    Age 81, died at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 1988 after a brief illness. He was born September 26, 1906 in Little Chute. Prior to his retirement he had worked for Appleton Papers, Combined Locks Mill. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Combined Locks Quarter Century Club and the Little Chute Golden Agers.

    Survivors include his wife, Isabelle [Marx] Van Boxtel; three daughters and sons in-law; Joyce and Ronald Steers, Kimberly; Arlene and Ves Grissman, Kaukauna; Pamela and Charles Swanson, Appleton; a son and daughter in-law; Ronald and Waneta Van Boxtel, Kimberly; a brother and sister in-law, Peter H. and Lydia Van Boxtel, Kimberly; three sisters; Minnie Brown, Kaukauna; Nellie Hopfensperger, Appleton; Martha Brezenski, Bredenton, Florida; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van Boxtel; two brothers; Antone and Frank. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday from St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Lexa officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of services. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

    Age 86, died peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, January 11, 2002. She was born March 30, 1915 in Sherwood, daughter of Anton and Johannah (Hopfensperger) Marx. Isabelle married Cornelius Van Boxtel, November 28, 1933 at Holy Angels, Darboy and he preceded her in death February 23, 1988. She remained close to the Lord by praying the rosary daily and was a member of St. John Parish, Little Chute. Isabelle was a member of the St. Elizabeth Society, Resurrection Choir, past president of the Little Chute Drum and Bugle Corps, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, member of the Little Chute Golden Agers and the Kaukauna High School Alumni Club. She had been involved with the Girl Scout Organization and was a volunteer worker at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute.

    Isabelle is survived by three daughters: Joyce (Ronald) Steers, Pickerel; Arlene (Ves) Grissman, Kaukauna; Pam (Chuck) Swanson, Appleton; a son, Ron (Waneta) Van Boxtel, Kimberly; 12 grandchildren: Debbie Van Boxtel, Karen (Tim) Aumann, Julie (Bob) Aschbacher, Michael (Vicki) Steers, Brian (Wendy) Steers, Kevin (Colleen) Steers, Scott (Joan) Grissman, Shawn (Wayne) Wyngaard, Shari (Bernie) Manders, Eric, Melissa and Keith Swanson; three brothers: Isadore (Bernice) Marx, Clarence (Dorothy) Marx, Edward (Alice) Marx; a sister, Lorraine Gauerke.

    Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Janet Fischer; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Marx; a great-grandchild, Caleb Aschbacher.Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2002 at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. Monday until the time of Mass. Arlene was born on June 30, 1940 in Little Chute to the late Cornelius and Isabelle (Marx) VanBoxtel. On January 6, 1958, she was united in marriage to Ves Grissman. They lived in Kaukauna for 58 years raising their 3 children. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

    She loved polka music, going to the casino, motorcycle rides with her husband and always lit up the room with her laughter and smile. She was a lifetime member of the 1000 Island Environmental Center and loved working at all the farmers markets. She belonged to the Kaukauna Athletic Club, loved working at all the baseball games and also enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul.

    Arlene is survived by her life-long companion Ves Grissman of 58 years; a son, Scott Grissman (fiancée Lori Schell); daughters, Shawn (Wayne) Wyngaard, Shari (Bernie) Manders; grandchildren, Jennifer Wyngaard, Becky (Jason) Arnoldussen, Kayla (Evan) Koehler; 2 great-grandchildren, Morgan and Kenzie Arnoldussen. She is further survived by her brother Ron (Wanita) VanBoxtel; sisters, Joyce (Ron) Steers and Pam (Chuck) Swanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Isabelle (Marx) VanBoxtel.

    A Funeral Service for Arlene will be held at Noon on Monday, September 12th, 2016 at ST KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH AT ST MARY CHURCH, 119 W 7th St, Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.     Marx, Isadore "Izzy" Isadore Marx "Izzy", Kimberly, 90, died on Friday, December 15, 2006, following a lengthy illness. He was born September 26, 1916, in the Town of Harrison, son of the late Antone and Johanna (Hopfensperger) Marx. On June 6, 1944, Izzy married the former Lorraine Plutz. The couple enjoyed 48 years together prior to her death in 1992. On April 29, 2000, Izzy married Bernice Paschen at St. John's Lutheran Church, Woodville. The couple lived in the Kimberly area their entire married lives. Izzy farmed his entire life. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golf, snowmobiling and woodworking. Izzy enjoyed volunteering for St. Vincent DePaul and the VNA/Hospice. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Kaukauna. Izzy served on the Town of Harrison School Board.

    He is survived by his wife of six years, Bernice, Kimberly; his six children, Tony (Karen) Marx, Town of Harrison; Jim Marx, Mich.; and his two sons, Ben (Holly); and Nick; Barb (Keith) Van Asten, Kimberly; and their two sons, Brian and Craig; Chuck (Julie) Marx, Ill.; and their two daughters, Jillian and Joy; Pat (Mike) Keberlein, Kaukauna; and their daughter, Izzy; Kris (Randy) Mahn, Town of Harrison; and their son, Troy; two great grandchildren, Dustin and Tamara Van Asten; his stepchildren, Glenn Paschen, Appleton; Lorna Menting, Neenah; Linda (Gordy) Lukasavage, Menasha; seven step grandchildren; 14 step great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence (Dorothy) Marx, Freedom; two sisters-in-law, Alice Marx and Florence Peters, both of Town of Harrison; one brother-in-law, Norbert Grishaber, Appleton; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

    He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lorraine Gauerke; Isabelle (Casy) Van Boxtel; Janet (Ray) Fischer; Sylvester Peters; a brother, Eddie Marx; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Grishaber.

    His funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH in Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends will be received on Monday at the BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 4-7 p.m. with the evening concluding with a Parish Prayer Service.     Marx, Clarence H.


    Clarence H. Marx, Freedom, age 90, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at Appleton Medical Center on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. He was born in Menasha on February 8, 1919, the son of the late Antone H. and Hannah (Hopfensperger) Marx. He graduated from Short Course in Madison in 1940. In February 1942, Clarence entered the United States Army, served in Europe, and was discharged in 1945.

    He served as a medic with the 8th and 9th Air Corp. in England, France and Germany. He earned the rank of Corporal. On June 28, 1945, he married his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Mischler, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown. After being discharged, he started farming in 1946. He served as Director of D. H. I. A. and Director of the 4-H Leaders Association. He was a 4-H leader for 35 years as a main leader and project leader in tractor and woodworking. Clarence was on the Advisory Board of the F&M Prime Time Club. He won trophies for High Herd, bowling and community service. He was a member of the Freedom V.F.W. Post #7692 and the Outagamie Retired Educators Association. He enjoyed making crafts, fishing, bean bagging and bowling.

    Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy; children: Conrad (Mary Jo) Marx, Atlanta, GA; Dick (Judy) Marx, Kaukauna; Diane (Rick) Wiegand, Hortonville; Donna Van De Loo, Kaukauna; grandchildren: Alison Marx, Emily (Mike) Alexander, Deanna (Craig) Verkuilen, Denise (Scott) Meshnick, Danette Marx, Dan (friend, Alicia Murphy) Marx, Jason (Stacy) Simpson, Gary (Nichole) Van De Loo, Rick (Katie) Van De Loo, and Jim (Melissa) Van De Loo; great-grandchildren: Tanner and Bryce Verkuilen, Paige and Hannah Meshnick, Derek and Hunter Simpson, Colin, Caitlyn and Cole Van De Loo, and Peyton Van De Loo; special extended family: Dan (Tammy) Wiegand and their children: Nicole. Chloe, Paige and Kirsten; Bart (Brenda) Wiegand and their children: Alexandria, Zach, Victoria, Isabella and Natalia; Brett Wiegand and Michelle Angell and their son, Henry; Jean (Rick) Howard and their children Andrew and Cheyenne; and sisters-in-law: Alice Marx, Bernice Marx, Gladys Zielke, and special friend Dave Klister.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.

    The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Parkside Care Center, especially Kelly, Carol and Olga; staff and Hospice at Appleton Medical Center, especially Dr. John Swanson and Dr. Timothy Culligan; and a special thank you to Jerry Fischer for his many visits and help to the family.

    Marx, Edward J. "Eddie" Edward J. Marx, "Eddie", beloved husband and father, age 83, Menasha, died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born August 12, 1922, on the Marx Homestead to the late Antone and Johannah (Hopfensperger) Marx. He married the former Alice Mary Ver Bockel on July 22, 1944, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. The couple farmed the family homestead their entire married life, even after retirement.

    He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Eddie loved his family and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He enjoyed card games, especially sheepshead. Eddie also enjoyed playing Old Maid, Uno and Scratch with his grandchildren. The grandchildren will never forget their special tractor rides with Grandpa.

    He is survived by his wife, Alice Marx of nearly 62 years. Ed was a wonderful father to his eight children who also survive: Edward A. (Pat) Marx, John (Carol) Marx, Cathy (special friend Mark) Marx, all of Appleton; Mary (Scott) Campbell, Springfield, OR; Dale (Cindy) Marx, Sherwood; Judy (Al) Dix, Kaukauna; Jerry (Connie) Marx, Wrightstown; Terry (Dave) Muntner, Waupaca; 20 grandchildren: Scott, Ryan (Kathy), Jenny and Andy Marx, Eric (Tammy) Marx, Lori (Pete) Gerbitz, Andrew and Melissa Campbell, Amy, Nate, Katie Marx and Leah (Frank) Cuda, Dylan and Michael Dix, Luke (fiancee Tina), Danielle and Makayla Muntner, three great-grandchildren: Hailey, Joe and Logan Marx. He is also survived by two brothers, Isadore (Bernice) Marx, Kimberly and Clarence (Dorothy) Marx, Freedom. He is further survived by his wife's nine siblings, whom he was very close to, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Lorraine Gauerke, Isabelle (Casey) Van Boxtel, Janet (Ray) Fischer, a sister-in-law, Lorraine Marx. He is further preceded in death by his wife's two brothers, Eugene and Jerry.

    Eddie's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2006, at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2401 Main Avenue, Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna on WEDNESDAY from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. and again at CHURCH on THURSDAY from 10 a.m. until the time of service.   • Burial: She was buried in Union Cemetery, Kaukauna, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Bernice Marx, nee Luckow, passed away at her home in Kimberly on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, and went to be with her Lord and Savior in heaven. She was born in Milwaukee on October 13, 1924, and was baptized and confirmed at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in rural Kaukauna. On May 13, 1944, she married Earl Paschen and together they operated the Paschen family farm. They were blessed with three children: Glenn, Lorna, and Linda. Bernice was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide, having held several offices over the years. She also sang in the church choir and belonged to the altar guild. She was one of the eldest members of the congregation. Earl passed away on September 27, 1990. In 1993, Bernice moved to her present home in Kimberly. On April 29, 2000, Bernice married Isadore Marx; he passed away on December 15, 2006. Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, embroidering, making rag rugs, and playing cards.

    Bernice is survived by her son: Glenn Paschen; two daughters: Lorna Menting of Kimberly and Linda (Gordy) Lukasavage of Menasha; nine grandchildren: Dawn (Dale) Draeger, Brian (Debbie) Paschen, Debra (Fred) Shadoski, Craig (Pam) Knaack, Joel (Chris) Knaack, Ryan (Sue) Burbey, Josh (Amy) Burbey, Jason (Tammy) Lukasavage, and Michelle (Don) McMullen. There are nineteen great-grandchildren: Derek (Carol) Draeger, Dustin Draeger, Travis Paschen, Tucker Paschen, Taylor Paschen, Kaitlyn Shadoski, Jenna Shadoski, Brent Knaack, Britni Knaack, Amber Knaack, Tyler Knaack, Tessa Burbey, Leighton Burbey, Breanna Burbey, Samantha Burbey, Emily Lukasavage, Sophie Lukasavage, Maddie Lukasavage, and Ella McMullen.

    Bernice is also survived by Isadore's family: Tony (Karen) Marx, Jim (Andrea) Marx, Barb (Keith) Van Asten, Charles (Julie) Marx, Kris (Randy) Mahn, and Pat (Mike) Keberlein. There are also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Alice Marx; a cousin: Bev (Wayne) Olson; as well as several nieces and nephews, and her card-playing friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents and Earl's parents: Henry (Emma) Paschen.

    The Christian Funeral Service for Bernice will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, N9125 Military Road in Kaukauna, with Rev. Andrew Luehring officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

  • Note: Dorothy K. Marx, 91, passed away on January 26, 2012, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on February 9, 1920 in Kaukauna to Henry and Laura (Haas) Mischler. On June 28, 1945 she married her husband of 64 years, Clarence Marx, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown. Dorothy was very active in her community and was a 4-H leader for 35 years, a past secretary and president of the Freedom Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Town of Freedom and Town of Kaukauna Historical Societies, the Outagamie Retired Teachers Association, the advisory board Prime Time Club and Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was also a very active poll worker at the Kaukauna Town Hall.

    Dorothy is survived by her children: Conrad (Mary Jo) Marx of Atlanta, GA; Dick (Judy) Marx of Kaukauna, Diane (Rick) Wiegand of Hortonville, and Donna Van De Loo of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Alison Marx, Emily (Mike) Alexander, Deanna (Craig) Verkuilen, Denise (Scott) Meshnick, Danette Marx, Dan (Alicia) Marx, Jason (Stacy) Simpson, Gary (Nichole) Van De Loo, Rick (Katie) Van De Loo, and Jim (Melissa) Van De Loo; great-grandchildren: Tanner and Bryce Verkuilen, Paige and Hannah Meshnick, Derek and Hunter Simpson, Colin, Caitlyn, Cole and Chloe Van De Loo, and Peyton and Addysen Van De Loo and Ava Van De Loo; special extended family: Dan (Tammy) Wiegand and family; Bart (Brenda) Wiegand and family; Brett Wiegand and Michelle Angell and family; Jean (Rick) Howard and family; sister Gladys Zielke, and sisters-in-law: Alice Marx, Bernice Marx, a special nephew Jerry Fischer, and many special friends and neighbors.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence, a daughter, Doris Jadin; a son-in-law, Gary Van De Loo, and a grandson, Joe Van De Loo.

    The funeral liturgy will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, (309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna) with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Appleton Medical Center ICU staff for the loving care and attention they have given Mom. We would also like to thank all of her Doctors and their staff for all the care she has received especially the Orthopedic Sports Center staff.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Dorothy's name is being established.
