    Kunstman, Robert E. "Bob"


    Bob Kunstman, 78, of Appleton, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010, at his home following a brief illness. He was born on June 27, 1931, in Appleton, to the late Ervin and Elsie (Kuborn) Kunstman. Bob married Barbara Kneip on February 19, 1955, in Appleton. He enjoyed sports, especially watching the Packers and baseball. Bob was a truck driver for the City of Appleton for 30 years, retiring in 1994.

    Survivors include his children, Catherine Kunstman, Appleton; Allen (Lisa) Kunstman, Appleton; Victoria Kunstman, Fond du Lac; Joseph (Mary) Kunstman, Appleton; Jacqueline McLay, Appleton; and Richard Kunstman, Kaukauna; his seven grandchildren, Joann, Ashley, Emily, Benjamin, Alexandria, Robert and Phillip; and his two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Elizabeth.

    He was preceded in death by his son, Peter; his daughter, Lois; his sisters, Margaret Lamers and Evelyn Martin, and his brother, Donald.

    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.

    Martin, Evelyn, age 84, passed away suddenly at her home Saturday, January 14, 2006. Evelyn was born on July 4, 1921, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to the late Ervin and Elsie Kunstman. She married Gilbert Martin on April 7, 1945. Evelyn was a very devoted mother to her children and her two granddaughters.


    Evelyn is survived by two sons: James Martin of Grand Chute; Terry (Cynthia) Martin, Town of Menasha; a daughter: Judith (Allen) Yingling of Black Creek; a brother Robert (Barbara) Kunstman; two grandchildren Heather and Cassie Martin; by a special niece Shirley O'Connell; and dear friends Ed and Ruth Spaeth. She is preceded in death by her husband: Gilbert Martin who died in 1990; and an infant son who died in 1951; her sister: Margaret Lamers who died in 2002; and her brother: Donald Kunstman.


    Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond, Appleton, with Pastor Tom Fritz officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2006, from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Interment at Highland Memorial Park Appleton, WI. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund is being established.

    Vandenberg, Eleanor "Ellie" (De Goey)


    Eleanor "Ellie" (De Goey) Vandenberg, 75, formerly of Freedom, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna, with her family by her side. She was born on Oct. 19, 1934, in Combined Locks, daughter of the late John P. and Amelia (Peters) De Goey. On June 23, 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald "Zeke" Vandenberg who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2002.

    Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren and keeping their candy dish full. She was one of the first to help get the Girl Scouts started in Freedom, and was a leader for three years. Ellie was a waitress at Colonial Lanes and also worked at Parkside Care Center for 17 years until her retirement. Her hobbies were cross-stitching, knitting dish cloths, and her favorite was reading.

    She is survived by her daughters, Laurie (Steve) Presteen and Linda (Gerald "Scooby") Schumacher; four sons, Dan "Butch" (Sue), David "Cricket" (Joan), Bruce "Clem" (Stacy) and Bryan "Cheesy" (Kristy) Vandenberg; 14 grandchildren, Sara and Andy Presteen, Connie (Bill) Erickson and Jamie (Ron) Lundrigan, III, Dana Vandenberg (fiance, Clint Dederich), Amanda Vandenberg, Nick, Jake and Matt Vandenberg, Kelly and Katie Schumacher, Monica, Deion and Riley Vandenberg; four great-grandchildren, Kallysta, Kadynce, Khylan and Kashtyn Erickson. Ellie is further survived by her sisters, Sylvia Bird and Angie Vander Steen; a stepsister, Joann Jansen; a stepbrother, John Wirth; and a brother-in-law, Leo Vandenberg; a sister-in-law, Ann Uehlein; her husband's family, Gene and Lou Ann Vandenberg, Pat and John Bougie, Diane and Don Krueger, Sue Pahl, Betty and Carl Evers; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Don; her stepmother, Ann De Goey; her only brother, Bill (Lea Ann) De Goey; sisters, Betty Keller and Marion Vandenberg; a stepsister, Betty (Alvin) Pennings; a stepbrother, Orville (Mary) Schommer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carol (Bob) Bumester, Bob Bird, Bill Jansen, Eugene (Stoney) Vander Steen; nieces, Sandy Bloom and Mary Brandle; nephews, Dan and Tom Vander Steen and Vernon Vandenberg, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lawrence and Ann Vandenberg; and a brother-in-law, Bernie Schuh.

    The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S in Freedom. Fr. Bob Vandenberg and Deacon Don Newhouse will concelebrate the Mass. Interment will be in the St. Nicholas parish cemetery. Friends may call DIRECTLY at the church on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the mass.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Eleanor's name is being established.
