  • Note: Karen Marie Janssen, age 61, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2012 at Cherry Meadows Hospice with her family at her side. She was born August 5, 1950 in Appleton to James and Julia (Coenen) Schuh and was united in marriage to Charles Janssen of Little Chute on June 2, 1972. Karen graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1968 and attended the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, where she met Charles. She enjoyed ceramic painting, flower arranging, jewelry design, cross-stitch, shopping, spending time with family and friends, and travel.

    Karen is survived by her husband Charles of Appleton; son Brian of Madison; daughter Amanda Borleske, husband John, and very special grandchildren Sorina and Malaina, of Verona; parents James and Julia Schuh of Little Chute; brothers: Gary, Kaukauna; Jim (Yvonne), Kaukauna; Bill (Mary Jo), Kaukauna; Mike (Cheryl), Appleton; and Jeff (Lynn), Appleton; brother-in-law Tom (Phyllis) Janssen, Kaukauna; sisters-in-law: Jan (Ron) Rabideau and Patricia (Patrick) Farrell, both of Kaukauna; and wonderful friends Penny, Jenny and Nancy; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and their spouses.

    Karen was preceded in death by her sister Susan Schuh; her beloved godmother Sharon Belling; her grandparents; and other uncles, aunts and cousins.

    Karen's celebration of life will be held Tuesday May 15, 2012 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev.   • Note: Joseph Gerrits, age 83, of Appleton, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, on October 10, 2010. Joe was born on December 28, 1926, in Kimberly to the late Martin and Odelia (Verhagen) Gerrits. He was employed as a painter at Omni Glass and Paint for over 24 years and was a member of the Painter Union, Local #145. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army. Joseph enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, bowling, and cribbage and horseshoes at Jerry Kamps.

    Survivors include his daughters, Tammy (Robert) Corey, Greenleaf; Debbie (Al) Lindsey, Appleton; his son, Robert (Sheri) Kraus, Appleton; his grandchildren, Chad Kraus, Jeff (Heather) Kraus, Matthew (Jenni) Corey, and Tyler Corey (fiancee Christina); his great-grandson, Jayden Kraus; his brother, Vern (Mary) Gerrits; and his brother-in-law, Corey Van Boxtel.

    He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Lucy (Ray) Montonati, Alice (Bill) Jansen, Clarence (Millie) Gerrits, Marge (Lloyd) Schmitt, Cecelia (Martin) Van Beck, Martha (Ed) Janssen, Wilbert (Rosella) Gerrits and Betty Van Boxtel.

    Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at JANSEN FARGO FUNERAL HOME, Kimberly. The visitation will be on Thursday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of services.

    The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital on the fourth floor, the staff at Colony Oaks Care Center, and to Amber Jochem, for their loving care.

  • Note: Mary Louise Gerrits, 81, Combined Locks, passed away on June 4, 2015 after a brief illness. Mary was born on December 27, 1933 in Appleton to the late Harvey and Lulu (Kloes) Sengstock. She was a 1952 graduate of Appleton West High School. On May 14, 1955 she married Vern Gerrits at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton and they enjoyed just over 60 years together. Mary was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In her younger years, her most important job was being a homemaker and raising her children. She was also an active member at St. Paul Parish in Combined Locks. She volunteered by preparing meals for the homeless and working with several organizations, including St. Paul Christian Services, Paul's Cares, Loaves and Fishes and The Garden Club. She also volunteered at The Warming Shelter and The Emergency Shelter. She was a very caring woman with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed growing flowers in her garden, sewing, doing crafts and working together with her husband Vern to finish or refinish furniture. Mary and Vern also played cards with friends in their card club and enjoyed camping with family and friends.

    She will be sadly missed by her husband Vern; her 5 daughters: Debbie King of Kimberly; Diana Brunmeier of Kimberly; Kathy (special friend Michael) Londo of Appleton; Karen (Scott) Peterson of Appleton; Cheri Gerrits of Combined Locks; grandchildren: Brenda; Katie (Dan); Dana; Brandon; Tanner; Janis (Jason); Neil; Max; great-grandchildren: Trenton; Trinity; Trevor; Peyton; Carson; brothers: Carl (Pat) Sengstock; Ron Sengstock; Gene (Dawn) Sengstock; Dick (Grace) Sengstock; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents; son-in-law Pat King; sisters: Shirley James; Beatrice Sengstock.

    Funeral Liturgy will be Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Parish, 410 E. Wallace Street in Combined Locks, at 11:00 am with Rev. Andrew Kysely and Rev. Jim Lucas concelebrating.     Schmitt, Magdalene H. "Marge" Marge Schmitt, Little Chute, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2006, at a local nursing home. Marge was born in Kimberly on May 12, 1915, daughter of the late Martin and Odelia (Verhagen) Gerrits. In August of 1937, she married Lloyd Schmitt; he preceded her in death in 1982. Marge enjoyed playing cards, reading, and playing bingo.

    Her most treasured times were those spent with her loving family, which includes a daughter, Donna (Larry) Wichman of Combined Locks; three grandchildren: Tim (Debbie) Wichman and their sons, Matt and Jacob; Christine (Jamie) Merckx and their children, Kyle and Eryn; and Lori (Terry) Ver Voort and their children, Nicole and Nathan; two brothers, Joseph Gerrits of Appleton and LaVern (Mary) Gerrits of Combined Locks; two sisters-in-law, Ceil Anderson of Kaukauna and Arlene VandenBoogart of Appleton; and a brother-in-law, Corey Van Boxtel of Kimberly.

    Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1982, and by brothers and sisters: Lucy (Raymond) Montonati, Alice (Bill) Jansen, Clarence (Mildred) Gerrits, Ceil (Martin) Van Beek, Martha (Corky) Janssen, Wilbur (Rosella) Gerrits, and Betty Van Boxtel.

    The funeral liturgy for Marge will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 East Wallace Street in Combined Locks, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.

  • Note: Rosie Tremmel, 81, Urbandale,was born on January 13, 1931 and entered eternal life on Saturday, August 4, 2012. She graduated from high school in 1949 and was employed at American Can until her marriage to George Tremmel. Rosie was a devoted mother to her three children. After moving to Des Moines area in 1976, she stayed at home 21 years to raise the children, then worked as executive secretary to assist with college tuition for the children. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and Rosie attended many games, meets, school and church events for them.

    Left to cherish her memory are her husband, George; children, Marlene Tremmel (David Beck), Laura Gilbaugh (Greg), and Karl Tremmel (Denise); grandchildren, Bethany Gugliano (David), Amy, Samuel, Alissa, Andrew, Emma, Grace, Zachary, and Caleb Gilbaugh, and Jessica and Emily Tremmel; brother, Donald Montonati (Yvonne); sister, Anna Mae Montonati; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard; and sister, Judy.

    Menasha, age 77, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014, She was born on August 28, 1936 in Menasha, the daughter of the late Raymond and Lucille (Gerrits) Montonati.

    Anna loved playing cards, especially poker as well as slots and bingo. She liked to read while enjoying many cups of coffee. She was an honorable and devoted Catholic who took her faith very seriously.

    Her true love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Survivors include her former husband and good friend William Madory; her children Kim (fiance' Bryant Hill) Madory, Green Bay, Colleen (Jon) DeCota, Menasha; her grandchildren Chad Bonnell, Brandon Bonnell, Jeremy (Sarah) Remter and TamiLee all of Menasha; her great grandchildren Summer, Hailie, Lillie, Jack and Connor. She is further survived by a brother Donald Montonati, Menasha.

    She was preceded in death by a brother Richard and two sisters Rosemary and Judith.

    A Funeral Mass will be held for AnnaMae on Thursday, May 1, 2014, 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha with Father Paul Paider officiating. Family and friends can gather before the Mass on Thursday at the church from 10:30 am until the hour of Mass. Interment will be in St Mary Cemetery.
