  • Note: Jesse J. Schuchart, 40, longtime resident of Howard, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011. He was born Aug. 3, 1971, in Green Bay, to Sue Schuchart Garrity and the late Guy E. Schuchart. Jesse graduated from Green Bay West High School and Lakeland College. He presently was working on his M.B.A. On Aug. 21, 1992, Jesse married Angela Weber. For years he was involved in Restaurant Management and was very proud of his accomplishments as a gourmet chef. Jesse was currently employed by Insight Technologies as Project Manager and held multiple Microsoft certifications. He enjoyed boating with his family and many friends and loved being a part of the St. John the Baptist School family as a parent volunteer. Cookouts with his family and friends were very important to Jesse and he especially loved taking over. Jesse always lit up the room just by walking in.

    First and foremost, "He was a really good man" and will be sadly missed by his wife, Angela; a son, Alex; a daughter, Kelsey; his mother, Sue (Mike) Garrity; his grandparents, Marian Schuchart, Helen John; a brother, Ben (Caitlin) Schuchart; a sister, Lisa (fiance, Chris Jones) Schuchart; a nephew, Connor; a niece, Grace; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Ada Weber; his brothers-in-law, Mike, Jon and James Weber; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

    Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Guy E. Schuchart.

    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard, from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday.     Van Schyndel, Verona Verona Van Schyndel, age 94, of Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Brewster Village. She was born on September 8, 1912, in Kaukauna to the late Matthias and Anna (Romenesko) Weber. On June 14, 1932, she was united in marriage to Sylvester Van Schyndel, and they shared 68 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death in 2000.

    She was a charter member of St. Pius X. Catholic Church, the Lady Elks, St. Elizabeth Auxiliary, and United Commercial Travel. Verona enjoyed playing golf at Ridgeway Country Club, playing cards, especially bridge, and loved traveling.

    She is survived by her children: Phyllis (Gabe) Gabrielson, Appleton; Ruth (Francis) Leahy, Appleton; Joseph (Kit) Van Schyndel, Appleton; grandchildren: Janet (Clark) Kreider, Dee Wais, Sara (Joseph) Daniel, Ann (David) Hovell, Steven (Meg) Leahy, Karen (Dan) Suminski, Peter Leahy, Robert (Shellie) Leahy, Deborah (Joe) Welch, Joanne (Jim) Coates, Victoria (Ross) Chisholm, Susan (Jim) VerVoort, Jack (Jenny) Van Schyndel; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Mildred and Florence Weber.

    In addition to her parents and her loving husband, Sylvester, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet; brothers: Nicholas, Louis, Edward, Michael, Herbert, Charles; sisters: Mary Ann Specht, Kate West, Tess Kons.

    Funeral Mass for Verona will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 12 noon at St. Pius X Catholic Church (500 West Marquette Street) with Father Tom Farrell officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass at church. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

    Our family would like to thank the wonderful people of Angelus Retirement Community and Brewster Village for the loving care they've shown for our mom.

  • Note: VanSchyndel, Sylvester 2000 Appleton Post Crescent dated 7/12/2000, Sylvester VanSchyndel, age 88, died Monday, July 10th, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a short illness. Syl was born December 26th, 1911, in Little Chute to the late Henry and Anna (Heesacker) VanSchyndel. He married Verona Weber on June 14th, 1932, in Kaukauna, she survives. Syl was the founder and president of Badger Metals Inc.. (Distributor of heating and air-conditioning equipment), retiring on January 1st, 1998. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 607: 4th degree Knights of Columbus: Elks Club a 337: and Ridgway Country club. Syl enjoyed golfing, gardening and playing cards. Survivors include his wife of 68 years: his daughter, Phyllis (Gabe) Gabrielson, of Appleton: Ruth (Frank) Leahy, of Appleton: his son, Joe (Kit) VanSchyndel, of Appleton: his 13 grandchildren, Janet (Clark) Kreider, Dee Wais, Sara (Joe) Daniel, Ann (David) Hovell, Steven (Meg) Leahy, Karen (Dan) Suminski, Peter (Marilynn) Leahy, Robert (Shellie) Leahy, Debbie (Joe) Welch, Joanne (Jim) Coates, Vicky (Ross) Chisholm, Sue VanSchyndel, and Jack VanSchyndel and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet VanSchyndel: his sister, Agnes VandenHeuvel, his brothers, William, Lawrence and Jack VanSchyndel. Funeral liturgy will be 6:00 p.m. July 13th, 2000 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Appleton, with Father Donald Zuleger officiating. Internment will be in the St. John's cemetery, Little Chute.

  • Note: Floyd 'Gabe' William Gabrielson, 88 years passed away on November 30, 2016 at Heartwood Homes, Appleton. He was born at home on January 23, 1928 in Virginia, MN to Nellie & Olaf Gabrielson. Gabe graduated from Virginia High School. He proudly served in the US Army from 1946-1948 and 1950-1951. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater where he also met the love of his life, Phyllis Verona Van Schyndel. They married May 7, 1955 and celebrated 61 years together. During his career he worked for General Motors in Janesville, Bytof Realty (Coldwell Banker), and Badger Metals, Inc. Gabe loved bowling, golfing, traveling, visiting with his friends and family - both in Wisconsin and Minnesota, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and spending time with Phyllis in Venice, Florida during the winter months.

    He is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters, Janet (Clark) Kreider, Rogers, MN, Dee Wais, Neenah, Sara (Joe) Daniel, Appleton. Six grandchildren, Becky (Charlie) Aus, Craig Wais, Amy (Josh) Mattfeld, Joe (Chelse) Daniel, Casey Daniel and Nicole Kreider. Five great-grandchildren, Isaac, Gavin, Sydney, Freya, and Ivy. He is further survived by his brother, Reidar (Kathy) Gabrielson, Phoenix, AZ, brother-in-law Frank Leahy, sister-in-law Kit Van Schyndel, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Sylvester and Verona Van Schyndel, siblings Alice Fink, Olaf Gabrielson, Nancy Maryland, Conrad Gabrielson, Margaret Zins, Henry Gabrielson, sister-in-law Ruth Leahy, brother-in-law Joe Van Schyndel.

    The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11 AM at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N McDonald Street in Appleton. Visitation will be held on Monday starting at 9 AM until the time of the funeral mass with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Military honors will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, Gabe's family will be forwarding memorials to the Fox Valley Memory Project. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

    The family wishes to thank Fr. Gerald Falk for his many years of friendship and support, the staff at Heartwood Homes and Heartland Hospice for their supportive care of Gabe.   • Birth: Ruth Ann VanSchyndel was born on March 31, 1937 in Appleton, Outagamie Co, Wisconsin.
  • Death: She died on February 26, 2014, at age 76, in Kimberly, Outagamie Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Ruth A. Leahy, age 76, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 26, in Kimberly, Wisconsin. Ruth was born to the late Sylvester and Verona (Weber) Van Schyndel on March 31, 1937 in Appleton, Wisconsin. She attended school in Appleton at St. Joe's grade school, Appleton West High School, and St. Agnes School of Nursing, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse and worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. In 1958 she moved to Long Beach California, and worked at Veteran's Memorial Hospital. It was in Long Beach that she met her loving husband Francis "Frank" Leahy. They married on April 19, 1960 and have spent 53 years together. They returned to Appleton where Ruth continued her career at Appleton Medical Center for 26 years. Ruth loved gardening, knitting, hosting dinner and parties. She loved playing golf and said that she was "never good at it, but the sociability was worth every bad stroke." Even the hole in one was played with an orange ball. She maintained very close friendships with life-long friends in the Appleton area, California, and in Good Year, Arizona where many warm winter memories were made.

    She is survived by her husband, Frank, Kimberly, five children and eleven grandchildren, Ann (David) Hovell and their family, Andrew and Matthew, Kimberly; Steve (Meg Kidd) Leahy, Prattville, Alabama, and their family, Peter and Macaira; Karen (Dan) Suminski, Franklin, and their family Erin, David and Sean; Peter Leahy, New London, and family, Michael and Zachary Leahy; Bob (Shellie Blum) Leahy, New London, and their family Mackenzie and Dylan. Ruth is further survived by one sister, Phyllis (Floyd "Gabe") Gabrielson, Appleton and one brother, Joseph (Kathleen "Kit") Van Schyndel, Grand Chute and many nieces and nephews.

    Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 12:00 pm at Wichmann Fargo Funeral Home on Oneida Street in Appleton. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
