    Cosmetician/Volunteer

    Age 92, died on Friday February 21, 2003, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Sally was born in Little Chute, Wisconsin, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Heesakker) Van Boxtel. For twenty-five years, until her retirement in 1978, she was employed at Jandrey's Department Store in Neenah, Wisconsin. As a well known Cosmetician and Manager of the Cosmetics Department, Sally built a reputation of fine customer service for herself and the store. During her career she won numerous awards. Among them was winning first prize (an all expense paid trip for two to the Bahamas) in a national sales contest sponsored by Dana Cosmetics. On another occasion, also winning a national contest, she won a $1,000 diamond ring for a counter top display she had arranged. Sally also visited cosmetic factories and sales offices in the United States and Europe.

    In addition, she provided beauty and complexion advice on a local radio program and conducted programs on skin care and cosmetic use for groups of girls at the Y Community Center. She also served seven years as President of the Fox Valley Cosmeticians Association (1971-1978), and was an active member of the Business and Professional Women's Association.

    After her retirement in 1978 she eagerly pursued Volunteer work. For many years she worked as a Volunteer at Theda Clark Hospital's gift shop. Sally was a devout member of St. Joseph's Parish in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was also a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. Sally enjoyed her family, friends, playing poker, sheepshead, bridge, going to Las Vegas, and making candy (especially fudge for family and friends).

    She is survived by six of her seven children: Joan (Leroy) Thibodeau of Appleton, Jerry (Molly) O'Connell of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Patricia (O'Connell) Unger of Bethesda, MD., Mary (O'Connell) Oberlin-George of Fort Collins, CO., Judi O'Connell of Reno, NV., and June O'Connell of Arlington, VA also thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Her husband, William Bryan O'Connell, preceded her in death in 1958. Also preceding her in death were one daughter Jean O'Connell, and twelve brothers and sisters.

    The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 10:30AM Tuesday February 25th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., with Fr. John Holly officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church from 9AM Tuesday until the time of the service.

    In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Appletree Court, c/o St. Paul Elder Services, Kaukauna, Wisconsin.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Paul Home where Sally was a resident for the past four years, and especially to the staff in the Appletree Court area, who gave her such special care and love.

    Little Chute

    Age 90, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital with his family by his side. He was born November 15, 1911 in Little Chute, son of Peter and Mary (Haysaaker) Van Boxtel. He married Willie Voster on June 15, 1937, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Appleton. Peter was employed at Kimberly Clark, Kimberly for 45 years until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, where he attended the daily morning mass. He also attended the Monday night rosary and mass at St. Pius Catholic Church, Appleton and the Tuesday night rosary and mass at St. John Catholic Church in St. John. He also loved playing cards, gardening and spending time at the cottage with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Wilma Van Boxtel 'Willie' Little Chute

    Age 84, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Willie was born May 26, 1918 in Freedom, daughter of the late William and Minnie [Weyenberg] Vosters. She married Peter Van Boxtel on June 15, 1937 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Appleton, and he preceded her in death lass than one month ago, August, 2002. Willie was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. She enjoyed playing cards, baking and throwing a batch of homemade candy together to share with family and friends. He most time comsuming hobby was picking and cleaning hickory nuts. She was able to sell all the hickory nuts, however, Willie always kept some for her family. Her most cherished time was spent at the cottage, surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Willie is survived by her six children, Janice [Jerry] Dunham, Kaukauna; Donna [Ervin] Arnoldussen, Kaukauna; Terry [Carol] Van Boxtel, Kaukauna; Duane Van Boxtel, Little Chute; Vicki Zobel, Kaukauna; Rick [Kathy] Van Boxtel, Little Chute; 16 grandchildren, Angela [Robert] Schreiner, Sari [Gregg] Kahler, James Dunham, Stacy [Michael] Schmidt, Todd [Mary] Arnoldussen, Tammy [Jay] Van Deurzen, Tory [Fred] Jahnke, Todd [Heather] Van Boxtel, Lona Van Boxtel and fiance Darren Olson, Tara [Quentin] Kasuboski, Kathy [Joe] Chernowski, Christopher Van Boxtel and special friend Kristin, Jason Van Boxtel, Tiffany Van Boxtel; a sister, Myrtle Hietpas; three sisters in-law, Sally O'connell, Florence Zuren, Bernice [Chet] Kriplean; three brothers in-law, Cory [Betty], Joe [Delores] and Rich [Carol] Van Boxtel; also by special friends, Mary Jane Hartjes and Vi Hietpas.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2002 at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Friday, and at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the mass.   • Note: Cornelius "Cory" A.Van Boxtel, 90, of Kimberly, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012, with his family by his side. Cory was born on July 14, 1921 to Peter and Gerarda (Schopkema) Van Boxtel in Little Chute. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Cory married Betty Gerrits on June 29, 1949. He worked at Kimberly Clark for many years until his retirement. Cory loved hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a very talented and skilled person and could build or fix anything. Cory made many toys for his grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and those times will always be cherished. Cory was a member of American Legion Post #60 and the Kimberly Volunteer Fire department.

    Cory is survived by his children; Dave (Becky) Van Boxtel, Kimberly, Nancy (Gary) Rietveld, Appleton, Cindy Christians, Menasha, six grandchildren; Bridget (special friend Nate) Van Boxtel, Peggy (Matthew) Kurth, Matthew (special friend Brittany Meier) Rietveld, Evan Rietveld, Caitlyn (Mike) Jenkins and Carly Christians, one great grandchild, Brayden Jenkins. Cory is further survived by two sisters; Bernice Kriplean and Florence Zehren, two brothers Joe (Delores) Van Boxtel and Rich (Carol) Van Boxtel, a brother-in-law LaVerne "Grut" (Mary) Gerrits.

    Cory was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter Linda, and many half brothers and sisters and brothers and sisters-in-law.

    The funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 5:00 PM at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH (410 Wallace St., Combined Locks). A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 PM until the time of the mass at the church. Interment will be in the Holy Name Cemetery.
