  • Note: William J. “Bill” Egan, Kaukauna, age 86, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Little Chute. He was born in Kaukauna on October 30, 1929 to the late George and Elizabeth (Ludke) Egan. Bill served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He married Arlene (Meulemans) Hopfensperger in 1988 in Crooked Lake. Bill was a man of many talents. He was a machinist and welder and owned and operated Marine Engine Service. From trailers to motors he could make or repair it. Bill loved boat racing and was one of the first men in Wisconsin to exceed the 100 mph mark on water. He loved to fish and pontoon while at the family cottage on Crooked Lake.

    Bill is survived by his wife, Arlene; children: Bill (Sara) Egan, Menasha; Patty Ellis, Tucson, AZ; Mary (Rafael) Rodriguez, Appleton; Julie (Jim) Schuster, Darboy; Lori (Jim) Altman, Neenah; Kelly (Jeff) Schmid, Sherwood; and Karen Egan, Kaukauna; Arlene’s children: Debbie (Dean) Cortright, Green Bay; Sandy (Tim) Harvey, Pulaski; and John (Kristine) Hopfensperger, Brentwood, TN; grandchildren: Jack, Alison and Troy Egan, Holly Ellis, Trevor and Clint Carter, Shawn Belling, Jackie Vargas, Magdalyne Altman, Becky Geiger, Corey (Trista) Du Frense, Jeffrey, Riley and Skyler Schmid, Darek Stuber, Cole Botzet, Kristin (Jay) Costin, Luke (Jennifer), Kyle (fiancée Amy Puschnig) and Laura Cortright, Amber (Bob) Meyers, Nathan (Wendy), Shane and Cody Harvey, Claire and Megan Hopfensperger and; great grandchildren: Blair, Grace, Clara, Selida, Maricxa, Rosalina, Isaiah, Sabastian, Zander, Brianna, Durango, Savahanna, Diego, Cheyanne, Lanora and Oscar; brother, Jim (Arlene) Egan; and sister-in-law: Betty Piso.

    In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his great grandson, Blake; brothers and sister: Chuck (Loreen), George and Marian Egan; and brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Dorothy) Meulemans and Mary (Ronald) Van Schyndel; and father and mother-in-law, Ray and Helen Meulemans.

    A private family service will be held at O’Connell Funeral Home. Bill will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Kaukauna.

    Although we are so saddened by our huge loss, we rejoice in the assurance that he is with our Father in Heaven.

    We love Bill dearly.

    Romenesko, Marvin E. "Whitey" Marvin E. Romenesko, age 74, of Appleton, died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 1, 2006. He was born in Kimberly on September 1, 1931, son of the late Walter and Ida (Natrop) Romenesko. Marv attended St. John's in Little Chute, UW-Oshkosh and St. Colleta College. Marv served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion, Post 258. On October 6, 1953, he married his wife of 53 years, Sheila Ebben, at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. He retired from the Appleton School System after teaching children with special needs for 30 years. He loved spending time at his cottage on Archibald Lake. His wife and children were a source of peace, love and comfort during his final days. They called him the "dad who could do anything" as he was always there to lend a helping hand.

    Marv is survived by his wife, Sheila; children: Lynn Palubicki of Green Bay, her daughter, Jordan, and her special friend, Tom Linssen; Robin Milis of Appleton and her children: Dylan, Molly and Sydnee; Brad (Jill) Romenesko of Marinette and their children: Hannah, Taylor and Jake; Lisa Romenesko of Longview, TX; Tammy (Kurt) Zacharias of Hudson and their children: Quinn and Griffin; Kelly (Mark) Cooke of Dallas, TX; and Kim (Jeff) Schuhart of Appleton and their children: Samuel and Grace; sister, Dorothy Kempen of Little Chute.

    He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dave Milis.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2006, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace St., Combined Locks, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

    The family wishes to thank the staff at Theda Clark, Appleton Medical Center, St. Paul Home, and Theda Home Care Hospice for their dedication and loving care.

    Milis, David J. "Mr. Pike" Dave Milis, age 48, Appleton, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, following a short but courageous battle with cancer. Dave was born in Appleton on March 19, 1957, son of the late Charles Milis and JoAnn (Naumann) Milis. On September 16, 1988, he married the former Robin Romenesko in Appleton; she survives. Dave was a loving and caring husband and father who knew how to make everyone feel special. He was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church and was a 1976 graduate of the Kimberly High School. For the past 25 years, he had been employed as a surveyor for the city of Appleton. Dave lived each day of his life to the fullest. He enjoyed nature and all the beauty that the Lord has provided. His greatest pleasures included spending time with family and friends while hunting, fishing, caring for his apple orchard, and watching his children participate in competitive sports. Dave was a great story teller and always knew how to put a smile on everyone's face. Many hours were spent smiling and laughing with family and friends at his land in Cecil and at the cottage on Archibald Lake. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Robin (Romenesko) Milis of Appleton; three children: Dylan, Molly, and Sydnee Milis, all at home; his mother, JoAnn Milis Van Cuyk of Kimberly; a brother, Charles (Tricia ) Milis of Cecil; five sisters: Debbie (Marv) Broslavick of New London; Diane (James) Roberts of Appleton; Cheryl (Jim) Brockman of Little Chute; Michele (Joe) Fernandez of Darboy; and Lisa (Jeff) Miron of Freedom. Other survivors include Robin's parents: Marvin and Sheila (Ebben) Romenesko of Darboy; a brother-in-law, Brad (Jill) Romenesko of Marinette; six sisters-in-law: Lynn Palubicki of Green Bay; Lisa Romenesko of Texas; Tammy (Kurt) Zacharias of Hudson; Kim (Jeff) Schuhart of Darboy; and Kelly (Mark) Cooke of Texas; numerous nieces and nephews: Jenny, Andrea, and Jolene Milis, Wendy (Troy) Van Nuland, Heather Treptow, Katie and Ryan Roberts, Jason Brockman, Jonathan Fernandez, Brendan and Theron Miron, Jordan Palubicki, Hannah, Taylor, and Jake Romenesko, Quinn and Griffin Zacharias, and Samuel and Grace Schuhart. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles in 1992. The Christian Funeral for Dave will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2006 at MOUNT CALVARY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, N8278 Coop Road in the town of Harrison with Rev. Virgil Hanson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (TODAY) from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
