    Great Grandma
    July 24, 1909 - January 30, 1989

On July 24, 1909, a baby girl named Freda was born to Fred and Ida Krablean. Her mom and dad had eight children: Clarence, Marcella, Frederick (Fritz), Harold, Helen, Freda (my great grandma), Art, and Eddie. They grew up in Menasha.
When my great grandma was nine years old in 1918, there was the flu epidemic and her mother died that year from the flu. Her dad raised the kids alone, the youngest was a year old and one had polio and never walked alone, he used crutches and was in a wheel chair. When my great grandma was 16 years old, then her dad remarried. My great grandma never got over the loss of her mom, she talked about her often.

Great grandma Freda married Joseph S. Lewandowski on November 2, 1927. They had 11 children: Bonnie, Joan, Carlton (died at birth), Joseph (Louie), Suzie, Danny, Mert, Peggy, Jackie, Scott, and Debbie.
Together, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 2, 1977 and their 60th wedding anniversary on November 2, 1987!

My great grandma was a small little lady, she was 4 feet 11 ½ inches tall, and no one could forget about that ½ inch! She had lots of energy and was very active. When my great grandpa had a stroke, he was paralyzed on his whole left side and could not walk. He was a bigger man, but my great grandma took really good care of him. She had a belt around him that she used to help her get him out of his chair and into his wheel chair for meals or to use the bathroom. One time she was pulling to get him out, and the belt broke, she fell and broke her wrist. She had to go live with one of her daughters while she healed, which meant my great grandpa had to go to a nursing home. She did not like being separated from him, so, as soon as she was healed enough, she took him home.

My great grandma died on January 30, 1989, ten months after my great grandpa. They are laid to rest by my great grandma's mother.
    Story

My great grandma Freda went on a double date, which was also a blind date. Her and her best friend went to meet two boys from Menasha. My great grandma decided she liked her friend's date more than she liked her own date. The boy she ended up liking more was my great grandpa Joe. When she asked him what his last name was, he told her his name was Joseph Levan. For some reason, he was afraid if he told her his name was really Joseph Lewandowski, she would not go out with him. He was afraid if she found out he was Polish, she would not be interested in him! Even after she found out his real name, she kept dating him. She actually loved it that he was Polish! She had a sign that she put on their wall that said "You Betcha' Duppa I am Polish". That sign stayed on their wall until they both died.
