    Age 80, died Thursday morning at his home after a long illness. He was born January 28, 1899 in the Town of Vandenbroek and lived and farmed in the area until his retirement in 1969. Mr. Diedrich was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. Survivors include his wife, Mercedes (Maguire); a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Kreutzberg, Rt. 1, Hortonville; four sons: James, Rt. 1, Hortonville, Gary and Roger, both of Rt. 1, Kaukauna; Richard, Green Bay, 11 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna, with a concelebrated mass with the Rev. Mike Hoffman and the Rev. Gary Van Dantinne officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Kaukauna. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Friday.

    Mrs. Michael Murphy, 77, died unexpectedly at her home at Freedom about 5 o'clock yesterday morning.

    Mrs. Murphy was born June 2, 1862. She was a member of the Christian Mothers society and St. Therese society of St. Nicholas church, Freedom.

    Survivors are the widower; six daughters, Mrs. Pat Garvey, Mrs. Earl Smith and Mrs. Ray Smith, Oneida; Mrs. Joseph Byrnes, Mrs. Herman Coffey and Mrs. Arnold Hooyman, Freedom; four sons, Edward, Seymour; Robert, Appleton; Patrick and Archie, Freedom; forty-five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

  • Note: FRANK CALMES, who conducts the leading implement establishment in Appleton, is a native of Belgium, and was born July 30, 1850, a son of Michael and Annie (Shear) Calmes. Mr. Calmes' parents followed him to this country in 1871, he having come the previous year, and his father bought a farm in Wyoming county, New York, where he spent the remainder of his life, his death occurring in March, 1906. Mrs. Calmes died in 1904, having been the mother of six sons and five daughters, five sons and one daughter now living. Frank Calmes came from New York to Wisconsin in 1886 and located in Appleton, where for a time he conducted a saloon and hotel, but in 1901 he entered his present business and has made it the leading establishment of its kind in the city. He carries a full line of implements and accessories, and his goods may always be counted upon as trustworthy and reliable. In 1874, Mr. Calmes was united in marriage with Mary Miller, who was also born in Belgium, a daughter of Michael Miller, who came to New York during the same year that marked the coming of the Calmes family. Twelve children have been born to this union, namely: Mary, who married Nicholas Kline, a plumber of Grand Chute, Wisconsin; Frank, Jr., who died in 1910; Josephine and Annie, who are deceased; Theodore, a blacksmith of Appleton, working for his father; John, who is conducting the saloon established by his father; Bertha, who is deceased; Lydia, who married Chris Jensen; Fred, who is employed in his father's wagon shop; Edward, who is also employed by his father; Bessie, who is residing at home; and one child that died in infancy. Mr. Calmes and his family are connected with St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and he is a member of the Catholic Knights. His political belief is that of the Democratic party, and he has been active in local affairs for a number of years.

    Vandehey, Richard G. "Dick"
    Richard Vandehey, 68, lifelong Kimberly resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Brewster Village. He was born on July 7, 1940, in Appleton, the son of the late Donald and Martha (Kempen) Vandehey. He married Joanie Liebergen on Aug. 12, 1961, and together they raised four children. Dick was employed at Kimberly Paper Mill for 30 years, was a life member of Holy Name Parish and a member of Cross & Crown Prayer Group. His faith and religion were an important part of his life. He enjoyed times at his cottage, playing cards and spending time with family.
    Richard is survived by his children, Michael (Sharon) Vandehey, Oshkosh; Steven (Laurie) Vandehey, Little Chute; Linda Boschuetz, Wausau; Amy (Kip) Otto, Hortonville; eight grandchildren, Shannon and Steffanie Kinderman, Katie and Abbey Vandehey, Tyler and Ellisha Boschuetz, Christina and Matthew Otto; one great-granddaughter, Kaliyah Salinas; two brothers, Dave (Jacci) Vandehey, Mark (Pat) Vandehey; three stepbrothers, Jim (Janet) Weyenberg, Roy (Kathy) Weyenberg, Tom (Carol) Weyenberg; four stepsisters, Lois (Carl) Hietpas, Dolly (Larry) Diedrick, Mary Ann (Ken) VanderWielen, Carol (Gary) Micke; many nieces and nephews; one special niece, Nikki Vandehey; and former spouse, Joanie (Marv) Heller.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Lou Vandehey; and his stepmother, Myrtle Moser Weyenberg Vandehey.
    The funeral liturgy for Richard will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH — KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue. The burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
    The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Brewster Village for their loving care and attention.

  • Note: Dorothy A. Worm, age 97 of Menasha, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013. She was born October 14, 1915 to the late Gustave and Emma (Braun) Klingbeil in Manawa, WI. In 1934 she married George Worm, who preceded her in death in 1974.

    Dorothy will be remembered as a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She worked at Theda Clark Medical Center for 21 years and in her free time liked bingo and needle work. She was also a longtime member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.

    Dorothy is survived by her four children: Gordon Worm; Donald (Mary) Worm; Betty Reschke; and Diane (Tom) Schisel; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard; seven brothers and sisters: Edward; George; Walter, Oscar, and Melvin Klingbeil; Eleanor Buth; and Frieda Johnson; her daughter-in-law, Jean Worm; son-in-law, Wesley Reschke; and sisters-in-law: Lillian Klingbeil and Ruby Worm.

    The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 436 S. Lake St., Neenah, Pastors Richard I. Krahn, II and Jason Oakland officiating. Visitation will be at church from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
