    Age 86, passed away at Brewster Village in Appleton on Wednesday, January 26, 2005. She was born in Wrightstown on December 27, 1918, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Beaten) Liebergen. On May 17, 1937, she married Norbert Gonnering in Wrightstown. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1998. Florence was proud to have founded the Freedom Family Restaurant with Norbert and their son Bob. She was famous for her ability in baking pies. Florence enjoyed playing sheepshead with her family and friends and going on drives with Norbert. She further liked her garden and flowers.

    Florence is survived by her children: Robert Gonnering of Cecil, Thomas (Marilyn) Gonnering of Freedom, Judith (David) Rickert of Freedom, and Ron (special friend, Kelly) Gonnering of Appleton; grandchildren: Scott (Heidi), Todd, Greg (Gail), Jeff Gonnering, Bobbie Jean Guyette; Mike (Karen) Gonnering and Janey (Alan) Jaher; Bob (fiancé, Jodi), Lisa and Kristin Rickert; Jill (Chris) Rosenberg and Tim (Jamie) Gonnering; great grandchildren: Ashley, Jordan, Megan, Brianna, Taylor, Logan, Justice, Justin, McKenzie, Marlayna and Jacob; sisters: Eileen Spice and Martha Van Oss; and a brother: Clayton (Lois) Liebergen. She is preceded in death by her husband, Norbert; sisters: Della Wolfinger, Bonnie Vissers and Laurie Niece; and a brother, Jasper Liebergen.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2005, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, N4088 County Trunk E, Freedom, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the mass at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brewster Village for their wonderful care of Florence.

    A memorial fund in Florence’s name is being established.

  • Note: Clayton P. Liebergen, 80, Wrightstown, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, with his family by his side, following a long term battle with Parkinson's. The son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Baeten) Liebergen, was born on December 18th, 1934. On June 9th, 1955, Clayton married the love of his life, Lois during a double-ring ceremony with his cousin Leo Nackers and Lois's twin sister, Alice. The two were lifelong members of St. Clare Catholic Church, Wrightstown, where he was an usher, and was a member of the Men's Holy Name Society.

    Clayton dedicated his life to his family and his farm. He semi-retired from the farm in 1999, where his son Conrad, third generation farmer, carries on the family tradition. He was a volunteer firemen for the Hollandtown Fire Department for many years. He also loved caring for his horses, going bowling with wife and friends, and playing Sheepshead.

    Clayton is survived by his wife, Lois, five children: Carol (Rick) Stuyvenberg; Mark (Jean Wall) Liebergen; Tim (Lou Ann Huss) Liebergen; Paula (John) Van Dyck; Conrad (Lisa Koltz) Liebergen; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; sisters: Eileen Spice; Martha Van Oss; and brother-in-law, Cyril Nies. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, Lois's family, and many friends.

    He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Martha Leick, one brother, Jasper (Myrtle Liebergen; four sisters: Florence (Norb) Gonnering; Della (Richard) Ver Hagen; Bonnie (Sylvester) Vissers; Delores Nies; two brothers-in-law, Jerome Van Oss and Les Spice.

    Friends and family may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 North Webster Avenue, De Pere, on Thursday, May 28, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A parish prayer service will conclude the evening at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, at St. Clare Parish - St. Paul Site, Wrightstown, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken, officiating. Interment will take place in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.     Age 83, passed away Saturday, April 11, 1998 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1914 in the Town of Freedom, the son of the late Peter and Louise [Weyenberg] Gonnering. On May 17, 1938 Norbert married the former Florence Liebergen at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown.

    Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Florence Gonnering, Kaukauna; three sons and two daughters in-law, Robert and JoAnn Gonnering, Cecil; Thomas and Marilyn Gonnering, Freedom; Ronald Gonnering, Appleton; one daughter and son in-law, Judy and David Rickert, Freedom; 12 grandchildren; Scott, Todd, Greg, and Jeff Gonnering; Bobbie Guyette; Mike Gonnering; Janey Jahner; Bobby, Lisa, and Kristin Rickert; Jill De Groot and Tim Gonnering; five great grandchildren, Ashley and Jordan Gonnering; Taylor and Logan Guyette; and Justin Rickert; a brother, Daniel and Betty Gonnering, Freedom.

    Other than his parents, Norbert was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Lawrence and Vincent Gonnering, and Reging Kearney. The funeral liturgy will be held Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, N4088 Cty E Freedom, with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery.     Norbert J. Liebergen, 89, of Brillion died on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 at
    his home. He was born March 2, 1914 in Wrightstown, son of the late Martin
    and Anna (Baeten) Liebergen. On Jan. 23, 1937 he married Adele Eichhorst at
    Morrison.
    Norbert farmed in the Town of Maple Grove for 30 years, and worked at Larson
    Canning Co. in Brillion until his retirement. He also served on the Wayside
    Phone Co. board of directors for 29 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran
    Church in Wayside and served on the church board and school board. He was
    also a member of the Brillion Sr. Citizens and drove for the Meals on Wheels
    program in Brillion... (survivors omitted for privacy)...
    Norbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Adele on Oct. 9-1994;
    and a sister Lucille Lipske.
    Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Oct 17 at 11 a. m. at Zion Lutheran
    Church in Wayside. The Rev. Steven Kline will officiate. Entombment will be
    at Knollwood Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
    Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Thursday from
    5-8 p. m. and at the church on Friday from 9 a. m. until the time of the
    service.

    Elizabeth D. (Betty) Jirikowic, 87, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2010, at the Parkside Care Center where she has been a resident for two months. She was born September 3, 1922, in Wrightstown to Martin (Mike) and Anna (Baeten) Liebergen. She married Wesley (Bud) Jirikowic in Shawano on February 20, 1939. Together they owned and operated Jirikowic's Bar in Kaukauna for 35 years. After her retirement, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family. They were the most important thing in her life. She also enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, knitting dish cloths for everyone, going out to eat and an occasional trip to the cottage.

    Betty is survived by her children: Karen (Nyles) Priest, William (Carol) Jirikowic, Ron (Eunice) Jirikowic, Carolyn (Leon) Biesterveld, Connie (Dan) McMorrow and daughter-in-law, Judy Jirikowic. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Sarah Wissing, Amy Huber, Tim Jirikowic, Jeff Jirikowic, Glenn Priest, Wendy Weimer, Karla Woltman, Mike Jirikowic, Lisa Arent, Kelly Effa, Brian Biesterveld, Jenny McMorrow, Kevin McMorrow and Katie McMorrow and 22 great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, John (Jack) and brother and sisters: Norbert (Del) Liebergen, Lucille (Norman) Lipske Weglin and Hilaria (Earl) Lipske; in-laws: Blanche (Al) Klumb, Alice (Bud) Mlada, Dolly (Lother) Kemp and Ed (Blanche) Jirikowic.

    The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 510 Sullivan Avenue, Kaukauna, with the Pastor Melinda Feller officiating. Friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
