    Vande Hey, Jean L.


    Jean L. Vande Hey, 76, Denmark, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, June 20, 2009, with her husband and son by her side. She was born March 26, 1933, in Green Bay, to the late Theodore and Mary (Christensen) Hansford. She married Gerald F. "Butch" Vande Hey, on Jan. 26, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Green Bay.

    Jean and Butch bought their farm in 1968 and together, along with their children, operated it for 41 years. She was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown. She was an immaculate housekeeper, a great cook and baker, and enjoyed crocheting. Jean was especially proud of her two granddaughters.

    Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Butch; son, Frank (Cindy) Vande Hey; granddaughters, Jessica (special friend, Jesse Van Groll) Vande Hey and Laura (Troy) Bomski, all of the Denmark area. Also surviving are Jean's sisters, Mabel Gaecke, Green Bay; Elizabeth Schroeder, Green Bay; and Doris (Wilfred) Malfroid, New Franken; brother, Robert Hansford, Green Bay; brothers-in-law, Orville Vande Hey, Virgil (Sandra) Vande Hey and Art Van Handel; sisters-in-law, Mary Sprangers, Rita Vande Hey and Beverly Vande Hey; and many special nieces and nephews.

    Jean was preceded in death by her parents; three children, infant daughter, Geraldine, son, Glen and daughter, Brenda; brothers, Alfred Hansford (and his late wives, Dorothy and Esther), Antone (Beatrice) Hansford, and twins, Richard (Helen) Hansford and Raymond (Myrtle) Hansford; sister, Helen Zinka; brothers-in-law, Jim Gaecke, Merlin Schroeder, Howard (Johanna) Vande Hey, Ralph Vande Hey, Gordon (Margaret) Vande Hey, Clayton (Loretta) Vande Hey, Roland Vande Hey, Mark (Florence) Vande Hey, Myron (Murilla) Vande Hey, Aloysius Vande Hey, Eugene Vande Hey, Hillary Vande Hey and Leonard Sprangers; sisters-in-law, Vivian (Ray) Eisenman, Marleen Griesbach (and her late husbands, Lawrence Sprangers and LeRoy Griesbach), Bernice Van Handel and Janet Vande Hey.

    VandeHey, Hilary H. "Dick" Hilary H. "Dick" VandeHey, 69, Wrightstown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at a Ledgeview Nursing Center. He was born April 7, 1938, on the family farm in Wrightstown, son of the late Henry and Petnella (Kerkhoff) VandeHey. Dick farmed his entire life on the family farm in Wrightstown, retiring in 1996. He married Beverly Orlando in 1961 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown. Dick loved spending time with his grandkids, vacationing in the Crivitz area, and enjoyed doing odds and ends around the farm. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Beverly; three children, Rodney VandeHey, Wanda (Gerry) Klister, Celina VandeHey; seven grandchildren, Matthew VandeHey, Evan VandeHey, Glen VandeHey, Gabrielle Knaus, Corrine Klister, Megan Klister, Virginia Knaus; brothers and sister, Roland (Rita) VandeHey, Gerald "Butch" (Jean) VandeHey, Orville VandeHey, Mary Sprangers, Virgil (Sandra) VandeHey; and many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; and three sisters.   • Note: Beverly (Orlando) Vande Hey, 76, De Pere, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at home with her family by her side. The daughter of the late Richard and Florence (Rymer) Orlando was born on March 5, 1940 in the township of Crivitz. She graduated from Crivitz High School in 1959. She worked at Witt's IGA in Crivitz during and after school. Beverly then journeyed to Milwaukee to work at Milwaukee Resistors. She met the love of her life Hilary Vande Hey, and the two were married on November 21, 1962 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wrightstown; "What a pair of socks would do." After they were married, they moved to the family farm and raised three children. Beverly shared 46 wonderful years with the love of her life, and she kept his loving memory going for nine more years after his passing in 2007. She enjoyed feeding the calves, cooking and grilling for her family, shopping and doing the dishes. She liked to go to Crivitz for a little get-a-way vacation, and loved spending time in the backyard with all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Survivors include her three children: Rodney Vande Hey, Wanda (Gerry) Klister, Celina Vande Hey, seven grandchildren: Matthew (Leah) Vande Hey, Evan Vande Hey, Glen Vande Hey, Gabrielle Knaus, Corrine Klister, Megan (Martrell) Webster, Virginia Knaus; three great-grandchildren: Landon Vande Hey, Abigail Vande Hey, Lauren Vande Hey; two sisters: Eunice Orlando, Verona Van De Hey; two brothers: Floyd Orlando, Richard (Lorraine) Orlando; and many nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her husband, Beverly was preceded in death by two sisters: Ileen Sikowski, Patricia Rogacewski; and two brothers-in-law: Marvin Subert, Sonny Van De Hey.

    Family and friends may visit Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere, on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 4pm until 6pm. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Knights of Columbus auxiliary; financial secretary of St. Anne's court, Women's Catholic Order of Foresters; and the Altar society of Holy Cross church, Kaukauna.
    Surviving are the widower; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mignon, Sr., Appleton; five sons, Richard, Donald, Carlton, David, Kenneth, at home; two brothers, Alex, Jr., Weyauwege; George, Appleton; a sister, Mrs. Henry Otto, Appleton.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o'clock Monday morning atHoly Cross church, Kaukauna, The services will be conducted by the REv. Peter J. Grosnick. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body may be viewd at the funeral home where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight, 7:30 and 8 o'clock Saturday night and 8 o'clock Sunday night.

    Liebergen, Stella E. Stella E. Liebergen, age 90, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2005, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. She was born on October 4, 1915, to the late Arnold and Rose (Daul) Verstegen. Stella married Harold Liebergen June 14, 1936. Stella retired from the Red Owl and enjoyed her cottage in Winneconne where she loved fishing with Dad. In her earlier years she did volunteer work for St. Vincent De Paul. She loved to knit and crochete. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church for many years.

    Stella is survived by seven children: Donna (Tom) Lesselyong, Appleton; Vonnie Hillman, Plover; Joanie (Marv) Heller, Appleton; Sharon (Jim) Waters, Menasha; Barb (Chip) Waters, Appleton; Karen (Randy) Kempf, Fremont; Mary (Kraig) Ruhnke, Menasha; 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Elsie Branchford; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

    She was preceded in death by husband, Harold; three brothers: Orville (Mary) Verstegen, John Verstegen, and Norman Verstegen; five sisters: Lena (Henry) DeBruin, Rena (John) Gonnering, Blanche Vandenberg, Marie Williams, and Emma Verstegen; and a son-in-law, Tom Hillman.

    Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Tom Farrell officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown.

  • Note: Age 90, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 8, 2003 and completed her life’s final journey. She is now in the presence of her lord and God. Hilda was born in Wrightstown on September 20, 1913, daughter of the late John and Antoinette (Kerkhoff) Liebergen. In 1938, she married Hubert Captain at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton; he preceded her in death in 1988. Hilda was a Christian role model who was deeply committed to her faith life. She lived each day by embodying her Catholic principles. For many years, Hilda was an active volunteer and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and also supported missions and orphanages worldwide. Near and dear to her heart was the St. Joseph Food Pantry, where she volunteered countless hours, and was honored to be the 1988 Volunteer of the Year. She also enjoyed tending her garden and reading.

    Survivors include five children: Ken (Daryl) Captain of Carson City, Nevada; Lynn (John) Pfefferle of Appleton; Dennis (Joan) Captain of Appleton; Leann (Jay) Ross of Denver, Colorado; Lois Constantine of Coal Creek Canyon, Colorado; six grandchildren: Cary Captain, Anne (Jay) Walkowski, Michael (Lydie) Pfefferle, Amy (Eric) Oelhafen, James J. Captain, and Sara Constantine; four great-grandchildren: Joseph and Lauren Walkowski, Charlie Pfefferle, and Emma Oelhafen; a sister: Elsie Branchford of Appleton; a daughter-in-law: Carol Captain of Appleton; and a sister-in-law: Stella Liebergen. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1988, sons Thomas Captain and James S. Captain, brothers Alvin (Ceil) Liebergen, Harold Liebergen, and Marvin (Hattie) Liebergen; sisters Mildred and Irene Liebergen, and a brother-in-law Howard Branchford.

    The funeral liturgy for Hilda will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 10, 2003 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Hilda’s name.

    She was born on April 15, 1921 in Wrightstown, WI the daughter of the late John and Antoinette (Kerkhoff) Liebergen. She loved the river as a young girl growing up on the family farms along the Fox River in Wrightstown and was fortunate enough to enjoy almost 40 years along the banks of the Wolf River in Fremont. Elsie was married to Howard Branchford. Together they built and ran Howie's Fiesta Supper Club in Appleton until selling it in 1968. Howard preceded her in death in 1975.

    Elsie was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega. Elsie worked at and later retired from Zwicker Knitting Mill in Waupaca. She also managed the Jim Dandy Diner in Fremont. She will always be remembered as a person who made the best of what came her way. Prior to her illness, Elsie enjoyed volunteering for the Meals on Wheels Program in Waupaca Co. and also enjoyed taking her daily walks around the Fremont community, taking care of her yard, and from time to time, shooting the breeze with her neighbors.

    Elsie is survived by her daughter, Dawn; her son, Bruce Branchford); Kristi Branchford and their children, Hailey and Grace Branchford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

    She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Hilda (Hubert) Captain, Mildred and Irene Liebergen; three brothers, Harold (Stella) Liebergen, Alvin (Ceil) Liebergen and Marvin (Hattie) Liebergan.

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega. Father Brian Belongia will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
