    Janssen, Floyd J. Floyd J. Janssen, 86, Hobart, died June 9, 2006. He was born June 5, 1920, in Hobart to the late William and Viola Janssen. Floyd farmed his entire life on the family homestead. He helped his father clear the land of stones and trees to make it tillable. He was an avid hunter, and taught many young people how to hunt. In his younger years he also enjoyed to bowl.

    Floyd is survived by his siblings, Jean (Lloyd) Smits, Ashwaubenon; Willard (Mary Jo) Janssen, De Pere; Betty (Vern) Bruss, Milwaukee; 19 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

    His parents and his nephew, Paul Smits, preceded him in death.

    Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. to close the evening. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family Corner of Suburban Dr. and Lourdes Ave. De Pere until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Father Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating.     Age 86, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Whitefoot. She was born January 30, 1879 in the Town of Center and had been a resident of Appleton for the past 53 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Third Order of St. Francis. Mrs. Rettler is survived by one son, Joseph J.; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Margaret) Whitefoot, Mrs. Raymond (Genevieve) Anholzer and Mrs. Raymond (Jeanette) Williamsen, all of Appleton; one brother, Matt Huhn, Sherwood; three sisters, Mrs. Max Ewald, Nice, Calif.; Mrs. Anton Strover, Appleton; Mrs. Charles Hanke, Eagle River; 4 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He married the former Marie Verbeten in Wrightstown May 3, 1921. and the y farmed at Rt., 4 Kaukauna. Mr. Lamers wa a member of St. Paul Catholic church. Survivors are his wife, one son, Roy, of Rt. 4 Kaukauna; six daughters, Mrs. Paul (Gladys) Sc hool, Mrs. Pat (Judy) Schaeuble and Mrs. Roland (Isabelle) Brochtrup, all of Rt. 4 Kaukauna ; Mrs Dan (Toni) Vander Loop of Kaukauna, Mrs. John (Betty) Maney of Tulsa, Okla. and Mrs. Je rry (Ruth) Gerharz of Racine; one brother, Fritz Lamers of Rt. 4 Kaukauna; 37 grandchildren , and 34 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert; four sisters, three brothers, two grandsons, an d two great grandchildren. Funeral service were held Saturday morning at St. Paul Catholic church. The re. Richard Schae fer officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery with De Wane Funeral Home handling arran gements.

  • Note: Obit. De Pere Journal Democrat 10-19-1989 Mrs. George (Marie) Lamers, 88, 2500 Sullivan Ave. Kaukauna, died unexpectedly Thursday after noon at an Appleton hospital. The former Marie Verbeten, she was born Jan. 6, 1901, in the town of Buchanan to the late Joh n and Bardine Van De Hey Verbeten. She and George Lamers were married at St. Paul church Ma y 3, 1921 and he preceded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Lamers was a member of St. Paul Catholic church and the Christian Mothers' society. Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Paul (Gladys) School, Mrs. Pat (Judy) Schaeuble, Mrs. Rolan d (Isabelle) Brochtrup and Mrs. Dan (Toni) Vander Loop all of Kaukauna, Mrs. John (Betty) Man ey of Tulsa, Okla, and Mrs. Jerry (Ruth) Gerharz of Racine; one son Roy Lamers of Kaukauna; 3 7 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren; one brother, Howard Verbeten of Kaukauna and on e step-sister, Vi Verbeten of Little Chute. She was preceded in death by one son Robert in 1 950 and by four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Paul Catholic church with the Rev. Richard S hafer officiating. Sandy Vander Loop, Ronny Schaeuble, Jeanne Sprangers, Gary Brochtrup, Jess e Vander Loop, George Maney and Sue Olsen, Godchildren were pallbearers. Burial was in the pa rish cemetery with De Wane Funeral home handling the arrangements.
