  • Note: Mary Kay Meulemans, 66, a lifelong resident of Freedom, passed away in the loving arms of her daughters and surrounded by many family members on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. She was born on April 21, 1949, daughter of the late Ray and LaVerne (Weyenberg) Romenesko. On June 6, 1969, Kay married Jim Meulemans at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom.

    Kay was a devoted member of St. Nicholas all of her life. She volunteered for many different things throughout the years at church. Kay was a marvelous baker and cook, always supplying her family with fresh baked goods and treats. If Kay didn't wake you up in the morning with a phone call, she most likely kept you up late talking on the phone! She enjoyed talking to her family and friends on a daily basis. The light of her life was her precious grandchildren. They could always put a smile on her face and they made her extremely proud.

    Kay is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jim Meulemans; her daughters: Lori (Craig) Hansen and Lisa (Mike) Sitter; her grandchildren: Cole, Caden and Ali Hansen and Rayna Kay Sitter; her siblings: Donna (Dick) Vande Wettering, Mike (Sue) Romenesko and Chris Romenesko; brothers and sisters-in-law: Carolyn Romenesko, Lois McMorrow, Janet Weyenberg, Barbara (Tom) Elliott, Joan Frederickson and Gary (Janice) Meulemans; a special aunt, Patty (Gary "Butch") Vande Wettering; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Kay was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Pat Romenesko; a sister, JoAnn Romenesko; brothers and sisters-in-law: Patti Romenesko, Tom McMorrow, Jim Weyenberg and Roger Frederickson; father and mother-in-law, Ted and Ruth Meulemans; maternal grandparents, Cy and Stenie Weyenberg; and paternal grandparents, Walter and Mabel Romenesko.

    Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home FREEDOM LOCATION, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom, and again on Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, at 12:00 noon on Monday.     Age 79, died unexpectedly Monday, June 22, 1988 at his home. He was born October 6, 1908 in Freedom, the son of the late John and Ameila [Kramer] Newhouse. Les farmed in the Freedom area for a number of yerrs, moving to Appleton in 1962. He then was employed by Fox Tractor until his retirement in 1972. He is a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Colombus Counsel # 8061, the Golden Agers fo Freedom and the Fox Valley Golf Club.

    He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Julia [Kerkhoff] Arnoldussen Newhouse; two sons and a daughter in-law, Robert and Darlene Newhouse, Oshkosh; Ronald J. Newhouse, Minneapolis, Minnesota; three stepsons andstep- daughters in-law, Fabian and Iris Arnoldussen, Wrightstown; Myron and LaVerne Arnoldussen; Hilary and Loretta Arnoldussen, all of Freedom; two stepdaughters and step sons-in-law, Julene and Pat Grady, Mountain; Florus and Robert Weyenberg, Freedom; a brother and sister in-law, Bernard and Marie Newhouse, Kimberly; a stepbrother and step-sister in-law, Emmitt and Clara Newhouse, Freedom; two step sisters and a step brother in-law, Catherine and Adrien DeWildt, Kimberly; Gertrude Noffke, Appleton; eight grandchildren; 22 step0grandchildren; two great grandchildren and 25 step great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie [Kuborn] Newhouse; a stepson, two brothers and a sister.

    The funeral service will be at 10;30 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom with Father Leander Nichol officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home, Kaukauna from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday until the cortege leaves for the church. The knights of Columbus Service will be at 7:30 a.m. and a parish prayer service at 8 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for the St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

    Mrs. Pat [Juline] Grady Mountain

    Age 65,was called to eternal life, April 4, 1992. The daughter of the late George and Julia [Kerkhoff] Arnoldussen, she was born November 21, 1926 in Wrightstown. She married Patrick Grady May 25, 1944 in St. Nicholas Church, Freedom. She was a member of the Appleton Order of the Loyan Order of Moose and a member of the Christian Mothers Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking and taking care of Scooter and Whiskers.

    Survivors include her husband, Pat; five daughters, Anne and Karl Hoffman, De Pere; Laura and Richard Willison, Muscoda; Rosilee Poquette, Appleton and her special friend, Ron Vandertie; Cindy Grady, Kaukauna; four sons, Michael and Dianne Grady, Mountain; Patrick and Lois Grady, Freedom; Fred and Pam Grady, Francis and Sally Grady, all of Kimberly; 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three brothers, Fabian and Iris Arnoldusson, Wrightstown; Myron and Laverne Arnoldussen; Hilary and Loretta Arnoldusson, all of Freedom; a sister, Florus and Robert Weyenberg, Freedom; and aunt, Marcella Grady, Green Bay; sister in-law, Mary Kieffer, Little Chute.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bert; three grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be 12 noon on Tuesday at St. Nicholas Church, Freedom with the Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. 10th St. De Pere from 4-9 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Christian Mothers prayer service 6:30 tonight and a parish prayer service at 8 p.m.

    Noffke, Gertrude Mary "Trudy" Gertrude Mary "Trudy" Noffke, age 88, of Pleasanton, Kansas, formerly of Appleton and Freedom, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2005, at home where she was staying with her son Rod William Noffke and his family. Gertrude was born on March 7, 1917, in Freedom, Wisconsin, to the late John and Catherine (Heauman) Newhouse. She graduated from Freedom High School in 1935. She was married to William F. Noffke of Appleton, Wisconsin, and they resided in the Appleton area until his death in 1986. She moved to Kansas City, MO in 1991 to be near her only son and his family. She is survived by her son Rod William Noffke and his wife Sheri and their three children Rachel Noffke, Stephen Noffke, and Christin Noffke of Pleasenton, Kansas; her sister, Catherine Dewildt of Kimberly, Wisconsin; and a sister-in-law, Clara Newhouse of Wisconsin; also numerous nieces and nephews. Gertrude (Trudy) was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, his parents William and Ida Noffke, her brother Emmet Newhouse, and five half brothers and sisters. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 6 p.m. Thursday, November 3rd at Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly, Wisconsin with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. A light lunch will be served following the service.
