    Ambrose Berken

    Age 77, died at 6 pm Tuesday, June 7, 1988. He was born January 20, 1911 in Wrightstown. He married Agnes Siebers June 11, 1940, they settled in Sheboygan in 1943. He owned and operated Berken's Bee Line until his retirement in 1974. He had lived in Little Chute for the past one and one half years. While in Sheboygan, he was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Dominic Church and was also an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Armored Tank Division [Company 1334 Infantry Regiment] in which he was a tank mechanic. He was honorably discharged in January 1946.

    Survivors include his wife Agnes [Siebers] Berkens, a daughter and son in-law, Mary and William Graef, State College of Pennsylvania; a son, Tony Berken, Sheboygan; a brother, Leo Berken, Kailua Kona, Hawaii; a sister, Leona Killian, Kaukauna; and eight grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Judith Dierking.

    The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday from St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Lexa officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Wrightstown. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4--9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of service. There will be a parish prayer service 8 p.m. Thursday.rr.

    Berken, Agnes M. "Aggie" Agnes M. Berken, "Aggie", age 89, Pawleys Island, SC, formerly of Sheboygan and Little Chute, wife of the late Ambrose M. Berken, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at National Health Care rehab facility following a brief illness. Mrs. Berken was born in Outagamie Co., Kaukauna, WI on April 30, 1917 a daughter of the late Martin and Mary Siebers. She was a member of Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church in Pawleys Island, SC and a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. While a resident in Sheboygan, she was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

    Agnes was an active member of the Mission Group at St. John Nepomucene and enjoyed working on quilts with the ladies of the parish. She was a member of the Primetimers group, the Prayer Shawl Ministry and Mailing Committee at Precious Blood Church in Pawleys Island. In Sheboygan, she was employed at J.C.Penney in the yard goods department and did the altar linens at St. Dominic's Church.

    Mrs. Berken was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Dierking.

    Surviving are her daughter, Mary and husband William Graef of Pawleys Island, SC, her son, Tony Berken and fiance Nancy Wick of Sheboygan, and her son-in-law, William Dierking and wife, Diane of New Albany, IN; nine grandchildren: Michael Graef, David Graef, Susan Graef, Laurie Kennedy, Kim Anderson, Kelly Owsley, William Dierking, Walter Dierking and Noelle Rao and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Lloyd Siebers and his wife Delores of Kimberly, and Donald Siebers and wife Pat of Kaukauna.

    A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2006 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Wrightstown at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Agnes' churches: St. John Nepomucene or Precious Blood for their building funds.

    De Pere -- Mrs. Helena Baeten, 420 College Ave., died at her home Wednesday afternonon at the age of 93. Until last summer when her health began to fail, Mrs. Baeten pursued her two favorite pastimes, reading and knitting, without the aid of glasses.
    born Jan. 23, 1863, at Venlo, Holland, she was a daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Ambrosius. She was 13 when her parents came to this country and settled near De Pere. In 1883 she married Leonard Baeten. Her husband died in 1942.
    Survivors are four sons, Fre,d Henry, Dan and Leo Baeten, all of De Pere; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Vennix, Marinette; Mrs. Arthur OTis, W. De Pere; 17 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren.
    Friends may call after 7 o'clock tonight at the Ryan Funeral Home where the St. Boniface Christian Mothers and the Holy Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 8 o'clock. The Rev. Joseph Jansen will offer prayers at 8 o'clock Friday night. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning in St. Boniface church with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

She leaves behind her husband and 8 children, all in DePere; John, Henry, Leonard, Peter, Elisabeth (Mrs. J. Van der Bloemen), Petronella (Mrs. Arn. Van Lanen). Burial was held Monday, from St. Boniface's Church.
