    Viola completed an earthly journey on September 10, 2005, which began August 1, 1905. She is the daughter of Fred and Agnes Radloff Bastian. On June 29, 1936, she married Joe Williamsen, which began a wonderful 52 year marriage. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Betty Bastian and Betty Williamsen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Viola was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Appleton for 69 years. She was very active in United Methodist Women, where she used her artistic talents in culinary arts. She worked for Design Unlimited for many years, a company owned by her friend, Georgia Schreiner. Viola loved children, especially babies, and sewed, knit, crocheted, and tatted for all members of the family.

    Interment will take place at Appleton Highland Memorial Park. A memorial service celebrating Vi’s life will be held at First United Methodist Church at a later date.

    The family would like to thank the pastors of First United Methodist Church for their dedicated efforts to be of help-Rev. David Brice, Rev. Kent Ingram, and Rev. Jane Voight; the wonderfully dedicated staff at Peabody Manor will always be remembered with gratitude, as will the Peabody Manor Auxiliary.     Williamsen, Elizabeth "Elsie" "Betty"


    Elsie, age 101, of Appleton, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Emerald Valley Assisted Living. She was born September 21, 1907, in St. John, WI, daughter of the late Francis and Margaret (Meier) Derfus. She married John Williamsen June 9, 1951, sharing 42 years together before his death February 8, 1993. Elsie was employed by Appleton Woolen Mills for 46 years and retired in 1973. She was a member of St. Benadette Catholic Church. She was strong in her faith and prayed the Rosary daily.

    Elsie is survived by: nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and God Children. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Mae, Anne,Vi, and two brothers: Norbert and Frank.

    Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, with Rev. Donald Zuleger officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

    The family would like to thank the staff at Emerald Valley Assisted Living for their love and compassion during Elsie's stay.

  • Note: Gerald John Williamsen, age 95, Suring (formerly of Kaukauna) passed away April 25, 2016. Gerald was born in Little Chute on January 10, 1921 to the late John and Mary (Hammen) Williamsen. Gerald served his Country in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during WWII from 1942 to 1944 aboard the USS Whitney.

    Gerald married Helen Hegel on June 29, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kaukauna. They lived on 6th Street on the south side of Kaukauna for 59 years. Gerald worked at Kimberly Clark paper mill for 44 years, and retired in 1984.

    Gerald is survived by his wife, Helen of Suring; 3 children, Mary (Dave) Gerndt of Suring, Dave (Debbie) Williamsen of Marshall, Missouri and John (Lorna) Williamsen of Illiniois; 6 grandchildren, Brian (Wendy) Gerndt, Lisa Williamsen, Anna (Troy) Thul, Steven Williamsen, Laura Williamsen and Kevin Williamsen and 13 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Williamsen on April 12, 2009; granddaughter, Trisha Simon on August 22, 2012 and his 10 siblings.

    Visitation will be held at St. Mary's (Katherine Drexel) Catholic Church in Kaukauna on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 9 am until the mass at 11 am with Father Jerry Pastors officiating. Gerald will be interred in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Kaukauna. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com

    Williamson, James J. "Jim"


    James J. "Jim" Williamson, age 85, of Brillion, formerly of Appleton died on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. He was born August 21, 1924, in Little Chute, son of the late John & Mary (Hammon) Williamson. He married June Bartz on April 16, 1955, at St. John's in Little Chute; she preceded him in death on February 9, 1986. Earlier in his life, Jim worked at Tuttle Press as a dye mixer for a couple months short of 43 years. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Appleton and enjoyed the simple pleasure of sitting on the bank with a fishing pole. He will be remembered as a true family man; a great father, great husband and a good friend to many. James was very mild mannered and never once becoming angry. He knew how to be patient and kind, and slow to anger; Jim continually gave of himself to help others.

    Survivors include his children: Greg (Leta) Williamson, Porterfield, WI; Sue (Gary) Punt, Reedsville, WI; Judy (Brian) Wolf, Brookfield, WI; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special friend, Lilly Mass; and a brother, Gerald (Helen) Williamson. James is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: June; and nine brothers and sisters.
