  • Note: Kenneth Norbert Hietpas, age 75, son of the late Cornelius and Anna (Conrad), passed away peacefully on August 8, 2015 at Oakview Family Home in Spooner, WI, after a long battle with FTD (dementia). He was born on Oct. 3, 1939. He married Irene Wildenberg on October 8, 1959 at St. John's Church in Little Chute, WI.

    Ken was employed at United Grocers (Roundy's) for 28 yrs , where he drove semi and worked in the warehouse until the company moved to Milwaukee. Then he drove trucks for several different trucking companies until he retired. He also served in the Army and was sent with the 32nd Red Arrow Div. to the state of Washington for a year during the Berlin Crisis. He and his wife, Irene, also were owners of the "Sharp-It Shop" for 13 yrs. where they sharpened saws and all types of blades for local contractors and mills and residents of surrounding areas. After retiring, they sold their home and bought a motor home in which they put on many miles driving all over the United States. When they tired of driving, they spent their winters in AZ where they bought their winter home but came back to Kaukauna to live permanently. And the children were very happy because their "Mr. Fixit" was back!!

    Ken and Irene were blessed with three beautiful children: Lisa (Keith) Vanden Heuvel, Tammy (Clay) Eiting, Jody (Elizabeth) Hietpas. And those children presented them with seven grandchildren: Amanda (Albert) Van Eyck, Adam Vanden Heuvel, Tanner LeNoble, Joshua LeNoble, Noah LeNoble, Katherine Hietpas and Ryan Hietpas. And Amanda and Albert presented them with three great-grandchildren: Kayla, Logan, and Grant Van Eyck.

    Survivors include his wife of 55 yrs., Irene, and their children. Ken is further survived by his sister Lois Liebergen, Alice (Leo) Nackers, Sr. Germaine Hietpas, O.P. ; brothers, Merlin (Rose Weyenberg) Hietpas and brothers-in-law Leo (Alice) Nackers and Eugene (Susan) Wildenberg and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Paul (wife, Margaret Opsteen), Roger (wife, Pat Opsteen), Omar (wife, ShirleyMcCabe), Eugene (wife, Susan Jury), infant brother Vernon, and sister Irene (husband, Norbert Roffers), and sister Elaine (husband, Peter Van Dera) and brother-in-law Clayton Liebergen.

    The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Oakview Family Home in Spooner, WI. for the wonderful, understanding care that was given to Ken. We could not have asked for better care by all the staff.

    The Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 12:00 PM at ST. MARY'S CHURCH, 119 W. 7th St, Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass at church.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

    Tuesday, April, 2003 Depatie, Clara Weyenberg nee Fox Little Chute

    Age 92, died Sunday, March 30, 2003 in King. She was born June 28, 1910 in Freedom; daughter of the late Peter and Nellie (Kortz) Fox. Clara married George T. Weyenberg in 1930 and he preceded her in death October 21, 1970. She married Fred Depatie, September 27, 1974 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, where she was a lifetime member. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Little Chute.

    Clara is survived by her husband, Fred Depatie; four children: Thomas (Karla) Weyenberg, Little Chute; Angela (Joseph) Van Bakel, Amarillo, Texas; Rita Powell, Navarino, Wisconsin; Lori (Donald) DeGroot, Little Chute; a step-son, Mark (Rose) Weyenberg and a stepdaughter, Jane (Ervin) Van Dyke, both of Little Chute; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren, 20 step great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law: Hattie Fox and Dora Hogan; two brothers-in-law: Matt (Virginia) and Henry Weyenberg. Clara was preceded in death by three brothers: George, Edward and Henry (Josephine) Fox; a sister, Cecelia (Edward) Rosenthal; four sisters-in-law: Mary Van Dera, Frances Weyenberg, Rose (Chris) Vanden Heuvel and Ann (Peter) Dercks.

    Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogan officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

    The family would like to thank the caregivers at Care Partners, Little Chute and the VA Home at King for the care given to their mom. VERKUILEN FUNERAL HOME 101 Canal Street.

  • Note: Rosella M. Gitter, age 86, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2015. She was born on July 17, 1928 to Joseph and Ercelle (Steffen) on the family farm in the Township of Hortonia. Rosella worked for many years at the Hortonville Toy Factory until retiring. During her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the food pantry in Dale. She was a lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Hortonville. Rosella enjoyed going to the casino, listening to polka music, watching the Price Is Right and tending to her flowers.

    Rosella is survived by her brother, Jerome (Joan) Gitter; sister-in-law, Frances Gitter; nieces and nephews, David (Mary) Gitter, John Gitter, Mary (Ken) Verstegen, Joan (Dan) Nelessen, Joe (Joy) Gitter, Barb (Cliff) Bungert, Bev (Gene) Utke, Mary Wittlin, Tom (Theresa) Lienhardt and Jim Gitter. She is further survived by many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Virginia, brothers Robert and Leo, sister Ruth (Elmer) Lienhardt, niece Jane Gitter, nephew Charles Gitter, and a special friend Ed "Red" Sullivan.

    The Mass of Christian Burial for Rosella will be held at 10:30 am. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 103 N. Olk St., Hortonville, with Msgr. James Feely and Parish Director Greg Layton officiating. Friends and family may call directly at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

    The family would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Glenn Preisler for his care and concern for Rosella over the years. They would also like to thank Sandy, Dawn and the entire staff at Kindred Hearts of New London, along with the nurses of Heartland Hospice and Dr. Timothy Houlihan.
