Kaukauna Farmer Trampled To Death When He Faints Under Horse

Kaukauna—Trampled about the face and head by a horse after he fainted in the stall, John Rupert, 43, Kaukauna, died just as he reached St. Elizabeth hospital in an ambulance about 8 o’clock Wednesday evening.

Mr. Rupert was employed on the farm of his brother-in-law, Dan Glasheen, and he was engaged in currying the horse when he fainted. Mr. Glasheen found Rupert under the horse’s hoofs about 6:15 and a doctor was immediately called from Kaukauna. The Glasheen farm is on County Trunk Q, about two miles east of Kaukauna.

After an examination the ambulance was called to take Rupert to the hospital but he died just as the car drew up to the institution. The attending physician said Rupert’s skull was fractured in several places.

Rupert had been employed on the Glasheen farm as a farm hand for several years. He was born in the town of Buchanan and had lived in or near Kaukauna all his life.

Survivors are two brothers, Levi Rupert, Kaukauna, and Earl Rupert, Duluth, Minn., and three sisters, Mrs. Glasheen, Mrs. C. Schaefer, Kaukauna and Mrs. M. Ahern, Green Bay. Funeral services probably will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon from the First Congregational church here with the Rev. R. B. Falk in charge.
