M, b. July 23, 1943, d. January 4, 2016
- Birth: Lee Sager was born on July 23, 1943.
- Death: He died on January 4, 2016, at age 72, in Tucson, Pima Co, Arizona.
- Note: Lee Sager 72, our loving dad, brother, and uncle, Joseph "Lee" Sager, died on Monday, January 4th, at his home in Tucson, Arizona. He was the oldest of four children born on July 23, 1943 to Paul and Libby Sager (Coleman, Wisconsin).
Lee was always interested in "how things work" from an early age which made him the world's best handyman and led him to a career with the Xerox Corporation as a Field Technician and Specialist/Trainer/Consultant. Several years after graduating from Coleman High School, Lee moved to California where he married Mary Vogel and they became parents to son, Paul. A couple of years later, they moved to Green Bay and then became parents to a daughter, Lauri. Lee hated Wisconsin winters so, after a few years of shoveling snow, he moved his family back to California where they settled in Lancaster. That area is located very near the San Andreas Fault which caused his mother and father to worry that they would someday fall into the ocean during an earthquake! In the early '90's, the Los Angeles smog and traffic congestion convinced Lee to seek a new location and he moved to Reno, Nevada. After retiring from 30 plus years with the Xerox Corporation, Florida became his winter residence and the open road his summer companion. In 2010, he relocated his winter residence to Tucson to be closer to his two children who still live in southern California. For many years, Lee traveled the Interstates and back roads all over America from coast to coast seeking adventures and visiting family and friends along the way. Everyone he visited had a "to do" list waiting for him as he was very handy and had great ideas for building and/or repairing any project. Lee's vast interest in people and places led him to seek out and find something fun and exciting in every town and city that he visited. His favorite places were museums and factories that allowed tours and, as a result, he was a wealth of knowledge about history, and how things were made from crayons to Corning Ware to Corvettes. He also loved seeking out local restaurants and had favorites everywhere he went. In 2014, Lee's main summer residence became the home that he shared with his daughter and son-in-law located in Friday Harbor, Washington. He was so excited about this new adventure and island to explore.
Lee is survived by former wives, Mary Sager and Judy Palmer, his children, Paul Sager and Lauri (Mike) Deverian, his siblings, Sue (Frank) Zaloudek of Fort Collins, Colorado and Monica (Ken) Stodola, and Rex (Robin) Sager of Coleman, Wisconsin plus many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed, always loved and adored by all who knew him. His wit and sense of humor will remain in our memories.
A celebration of his life will be held at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Coleman, Wisconsin on January 23, 2016 with visitation at 9:30 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Bring your best memories and stories of Lee to share with the family.
