Biography

  • Birth: Adam Daniel Matzke was born on January 28, 1994.
  • Death: He died on December 31, 2015, at age 21.
  • Note: Matzke, Adam

On December 31, 2015, this world lost an incredible free spirit with a huge heart and an infectious smile. Adam Daniel Matzke, 21, son of Dan and Myra Matzke, was born on January 28, 1994 and died unexpectedly as the result of an auto accident. He was a 2012 graduate of West De Pere High School and worked for Salm Partners in Denmark. Adam fully embraced life! He loved time spent with family and friends, and enjoyed animals, music, and the outdoors.

Survivors include his parents, Dan and Myra (Rathke) Matzke; his maternal grandparents, Cliff and June (Oppermann) Rathke; aunts and uncles, Judy (Charles) Chada, Glenn (Joan) Matzke, Paul (Bridget) Matzke, Mark (Helen) Matzke, Jean (Charles) Guns, Sharon (Jeff) Dworak, Renee (Don) Knuth, Dave (Maryann) Rathke, Paula (Mike) Milas, and Nola (Mark) Halfmann; his godparents, Derek Matzke, Paula Milas, and Kristine Morano; his early childhood foster family, Al and Eileen VanderKinter and family; and many cousins and special friends.

Adam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roland and Ethel (Gonnering) Matzke.

Because Adam knew his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, he will find eternal rest in heaven. John 3:16, which Adam had chosen as his confirmation passage, held special significance to him. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Family and friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. 10th Street, De Pere from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, January 4, 2016. At 7:00pm there will be a time of sharing. Visitation will continue at Zion Lutheran Church, 453 Rosehill Drive, Oneida, on Tuesday, January 5, 2015 beginning at 9:00am. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am. Please visit www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.

Because Adam chose the gift of life, he lives on through organ donation in more than 100 recipients, including his eyes to help the blind see, heart valves to help someone live, and bones to help others walk again. In life, as in death, Adam wanted to help others; he always looked for the good in all others and in all situations.

Adam's family extends special thanks to the Brown County Sheriff's Office and the Medical Examiner for the extraordinary compassion shown to the family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Adam's name.
