The couple operated a cheese factory near Marytown for six years and then farmed in the town of New Holstein until retiring in 1936. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1949. Mrs. Nett died in June, 1950, since which time he had lived with a son. He was a member of the Holy Name society.
    Surviving him are two sons, Alvin on the home farm, and Walter of Valders; two daughters, Mrs. Alvin Gregoire and Mrs. Vincent Walsdorf of near Kiel; a brother Frank of Milwaukee; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Six brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

    in the town of Calumet (Fond du Lac county), the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pitzen. She attended parochial schools at Marytown. On Nov. 21, 1899, she was married to Arnold Nett of Marytown. After
    residing at Marytown for six years, the couple moved to a farm one mile west of Kiel where they made their home for the past 45 years.
    The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1949.
    Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Albin (Irene) Gregoire and Mrs. Vincent (Loretta) Walsdorf, Kiel; two sons, Walter, Sheboygan Falls, and Alvin, Kiel; 19 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Casper, Marytown, and Mrs.
    Louise Braun, West Bend, and two brothers, Matt, Fond du Lac, and John, Marytown. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Walter Nett

  • Note: Mrs. Albin Gregoire, 79, of West 613 Highway 149, Kiel, was dead on arrival at St. Nicholas Hospital Tuesday evening, after apparently being stricken by a heart attack at her home.
    The former Irene Nett, she was born April 15, 1904, in Marytown, a daughter of the late Arnold and Anna Pitzen Nett. She attended St Mary Catholic School, Marytown. On June 1, 1926, she and Albin Gregoire were married in Kiel. The couple farmed in the town of Russell until 1942 and then farmed in the Town of New Holstein until retiring in 1965. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, its Christian Mothers Society and the Kiel Senior Citizens.
    Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Yaniak of Milwaukee; one son, LeRoy of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, and one brother, Alvin Nett of rural Kiel. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
    Funeral Mass will be at SS. Peter and Paul Church, Kiel, with the Rev. Francis Kerscher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Albin Gregoire

    Mr. Gregoire was born December 7, 1903, in St. Anna, son of Nicholas and Mary Meyer Gregoire. He attended Catholic Schools at St. Anna. On June 1, 1926, he married the former Irene Nett at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. The couple farmed in the town of Russell until 1942. They farmed in the Town of new Holstein until retiring in 1965. Mrs. Gregoire died in 1983. Mr. Gregoire was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, its Holy Name Society, Catholic Knights and Kiel Senior Citizens.
    He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Yaniak of Milwaukee; one son, Leroy of Minneapolis, Minnesota; four grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Howard and Mrs. Cyrilla Ernst, both of Irving, Texas, Mrs. Araya Murphy of Florida and Mrs. Marina Escher of New Holstein; and one brother, Edmund also of New Holstein. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
    A concelebrated funeral Mass was held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. The Rev. Frank J. Yaniak and the Rev. Daniel E. Yaniak were celebrants of the Mass. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Alvin Nett

  • Note: Alvin M. Nett, 80, W1413 Highway 149, Kiel, died Monday evening at his home, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
    He was born March 10, 1906, in the town of New Holstein, a son of the late Arnold and Anna Pitzen Nett. He attended Catholic school in Kiel. On April 16, 1934, he married Madeline Deville at St. Anne's Catholic Church in St. Anna. The couple farmed in the town of New Holstein after their marriage until retiring in 1970. She preceded him in death in 1981. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel.
    Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William (Theresa) Neils, rural Elkhart Lake and Mrs. Orville (Marilyn) Ausloos, New Holstein; five sons, Andrew, rural Elkhart Lake, Robert, Thomas and Kenneth, all of Kiel, and Jerome, Brillion; 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, two sisters and one brother.
    A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, with the Rev. Cyril Dickrell, a nephew of Mr. Nett, as celebrant. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

Madeline DeVille

    The former Madeline Deville was born April 13, 1909 in Fouches, Belgium, a daughter of Simon and Sarahine Perl Deville. In 1921 she came with her family to St. Anna, where she attended school. She was married to Mr. Nett April 16, 1934, at St. Anne Catholic Church in St. Anna. The couple farmed in the Town of New Holstein. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Kiel and the Christian Mothers Society. She belonged to the Swamp Edge Homemakers and was active in the area support group for retarded people.

    Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. William (Theresa) Niles of rural Elkhart Lake and Mrs. Orville (Marilyn ) Ausloos of New Holstein; five sons, Andrew of rural Elkhart Lake, Robert, Thomas and Kenneth, all of Kiel and Jerome at home; 21 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Anne Ollinger of Evanston, Ill. A grandson, sister, and brother preceded her in death.

    The funeral Mass will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. The Rev. Cyril Dickrell, a nephew will be Mass celebrant. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Loretta Nett

  • Note: Mrs. Vincent Walsdorf, 60, of Rt 1, New Holstein, died Thursday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Mrs. Walsdorf, the former Loretta Nett, was born Sept, 30, 1908, in Town of New Holstein, daughter of the lat Arnold and Anna Pitzen Nett. She attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Kiel, and was married to Vincent Walsdorf June 7, 1927. The couple lived on the Walsdorf home farm. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society, Catholic Order of Foresters, Kiel branch, and the Swamp Edge Homemakers.
    Survivors include the husband; four daughters, Mrs. Francis (Audrey) Keuler of Appleton, Mrs. Richard (Rosemary) Gordy of Sheboygan, Mrs. Leroy (Dorothy) Shad of rural New Holstein and Mrs. Edgar (Carol) Salm of Chilton; three sons, Charles and Edward of rural New Holstein and Nicholas of Kiel; a sister, Mrs. Albin Gregoire and a brother, Alvin, of rural Kiel and 25 grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death.

  • Note: Mathies Nett, 79, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Monday evening at his home, 402 Freemont St., Kiel.
    Mr. Nett was born at Marytown, Calumet County, on May 3, 1876, son of the late Peter and Gertrude Nett. He attended St. Mary Parochial School at Marytown and on Feb. 2, 1900, married the former Louisa Mahlberg of Jericho. She died March 13, 1929.
    At Marytown Mr. Nett operated a cheese factory before moving to Kiel in 1908.
    There he was engaged in the tavern business for 20 years until his retirement 26 years ago. On April 26, 1930, he married Mrs. Dora Engel of Kiel.
    She survives along with a son, Elmer of Kiel; a stepson, Edgar Engel of Port Washington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. A. J. Brill of Kiel; two brothers, Arnold of Kiel and Frank of Milwaukee; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
    Preceding him in death, were four sisters and four brothers.

Louise Mahlberg

  • Note: Mrs. Math Nett Dies at Plymouth
    Following a long period of illness, Mrs. Math. Nett passed away at the Plymouth hospital last week Wednesday at the age of 51 years.
    She had undergone an operation some weeks ago, and later contracted cerebral menengitis, which caused her death. Marie Louise Nett, nee Mahlberg, was born August 18, 1878, in
    Westphalia, Iowa. At the age of 13 she came with her parents to Jericho to reside. Here she lived until February 4, 1902, when she was united in marriage to Math. Nett. The young couple took up their residence in Marytown, living there until 1909, when they moved to Kiel, where they lived until the present time.
    Surviving the deceased are her husband, one son, Elmer, at home, her mother, Mrs. Anna M. Mahlberg, who is making her home here, and one brother, Thomas Mahlberg of New Holstein. She was a loyal member of the Sts. Peter and Paul church here, and was a member of the Altar Society, the Lady Foresters, and the Christian Mothers Society. The members of these organizations attended the funeral services in a body.

Dora Arnold

    Born Mary Nett, in Marytown, Aug. 7, 1881, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Gertrude Nett. She attended Catholic school at Marytown and on June 4, 1902 was married Hubert Mies of St. Joseph. The couple located on a farm one mile west of Kiel, later moving into the city to make their home. Mr. Mies died on Sept. 8, 1917, and in 1926 she was married to Frank Schaller of Kiel. He died in 1942. Mrs. Schaller was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of the SS. Peter and paul Catholic Church, members of which will recite the rosary at the church at 7 p.m. Thursday.

    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Voelker, and a son, Claude Mies, both of Kiel; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Arnold and Matt Nett of Kiel and Frank Nett of Milwaukee, and a sister Mrs. Joseph Klinkner of Plymouth.

    Services will be held at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, at 9:30 a.m. Friday and at 10 o'clock at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. F.X. Kheil officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. Thursday
    to time of the Friday morning services.

Hubert Mies

  • Marriage: He and Mary Nett were married on June 4, 1902.
  • Death: Hubert Mies died on September 7, 1917, at age 39.
  • Note: In his home on Friday evening at 11:30 PM, Mr. Hubert Mies a well-known innkeeper in Kiel died of a lingering illness of kidney disease and edema of the heart. The deceased was born on August 19, 1878 near St. Joseph in Fond du Lac County. In 1902 he married his now surviving wife, Mary Nett and the couple lived for many years in Hinzeville where Mr. Mies owned a saloon. Later the family moved to a farm in Town New Holstein, and three years ago to Kiel where the deceased purchased the Market Saloon, which he operated until his death. The marriage was blessed with two children who along with their mother mourn the all too early death of her husband and their father. Additionally, his mother, four brothers and three sisters survive him. The burial took place on Tuesday morning at the Catholic Cemetery following the funeral service at the St. Peter and Paul Church with Father Rumbel officiating.

Frank Schaller

    A Kiel tavernkeeper, Alfred A. Schaller, 65, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home, 523 Fremont St., in Kiel. He operated a tavern and barbershop at St. Anna until 1942, when he moved to Kiel, where he was in the tavern business until the time of his death. For seven years prior to last year, he also was employed at the North Gate barbershop in Sheboygan. He was born near Cleveland on Nov. 26, 1899, the son of the late Frank Schaller and Anna Van De Loo Schaller. The family later moved to rural Kiel and he attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School. He also is a graduate of Wisconsin Barber College. His marriage to the former Eleanor Jugenheimer took place on Nov. 3, 1927. He was a member of Ss. peter and Paul Catholic Church, of Redman Lodge and of 24-Hour Club of the lodge.
    Survivors include his wife; two daughters (names omitted for privacy), seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Herman Maurer of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. John Kistner, Sheboygan, and Mrs. Sylvester Grott, Plymouth. The requiem mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, preceded by brief rites at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, at 9:30. The Rev. George Kiefer, pastor, will be celebrant and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Eleanora Jugenheimer

  • Birth: Eleanora Jugenheimer was born on January 28, 1907.
  • Marriage: She and Alfred Schaller were married on November 3, 1927 in Kiel, Manitowoc Co, Wisconsin.
  • Death: Eleanora Jugenheimer died on July 25, 2001, at age 94.
  • Note: Eleonora "Ma" Schaller, 94, formerly of 532 Fremont St. in Kiel, died peacefully Thursday morning, Sept. 13, 2001 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
    She is the former Eleonora Jugenheimer born Jan. 28, 1907 in the town of Rhine, daughter of the late Henry and Lena Reichert Jugenheimer.
    She attended Kiel grade school and was a 1925 graduate of Kiel High School. On Nov. 3, 1927 she married Alfred "Fritz" Schaller at the parsonage at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. Alfred and "Eleanor" made their home in St. Anna where they operated a tavern until moving to Kiel in 1942. Alfred preceded her in death on July 4, 1965. Eleanor operated Schaller's Tavern in Kiel until June this year.
    Survivors include two daughters; seven grandchildren; 10 great grand-children; one great-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law; many nieces,nephews and her special friends including her special buddy, the family dog, Maxine."Eleanor" was preceded in death by one daughter; two great-grandchildren and five brothers, Lester, Milroy, Allan, Aaron "Itzy" and Donald Jugenheimer.
    "Eleanor" was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all. Never say Good-bye, say Wiederschen.
