Floyd was the son of the late Roy and Sophia (Marx) Zuleger. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and then graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School. Floyd served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was employed with American Can Company and retired after 40 years. When not at work, he enjoyed his cabin up north and spending time with family; particularly playing sheepshead with whistling, laughing, and way too much table talk!

    Floyd is survived by his siblings: Gloria (John) Haselow and Keith (Donna) Zuleger; loving nieces and nephews: Johnny Haselow, Susan (Philip) Birner, Nancy (John Nash) Haselow Nash, Chris (Cindy) Zuleger, Linda (Patrick) Murphy, Dan (Mary) Zuleger, and Beth (Paul) Dimka; great nieces and nephews: Ben, Zach, Sophie, Tyler, Taylor, Garrett, Brock, Erin, Megan, Molly, Matt, Travis, Jamie, and Tanner; as well as many other relatives and friends.

    Floyd was preceded in death by his parents.

    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, with Rev. Tony McKenzie officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah.

    We will miss him very much but know he is resting in his Savior's arms.

    John was born on June 24, 1929, in Neenah, son of Arthur and Viola Haselow. He graduated from Neenah High School in 1947, earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and completed his Medical Doctor degree at Marquette University, Milwaukee.

    He lived a full and very active life and contributed his time, intellect and energy to help many over his lifetime. He honorably served in the U.S. Army. He had a passion for medicine and for athletics, demonstrated by a very large and thriving medical practice of about 50 years, first in Freemont and then in Neenah. John left that practice to start a preventive medicine and cardiac rehabilitation program at the YMCA, which married his passion for medicine and fitness.

    Dr. Haselow also practiced what he preached, achieving many athletic goals over the years. He was the Neenah High School quarterback and then served as the football team doctor for 30 years. He swam across Lake Winnebago, from Neenah to High Cliff, twice. John participated in hundreds of running, cross-country skiing and triathlon races. Highlights were completing the Iron Man Race in Hawaii twice, and being selected as a member of the US National Triathlon team, to compete in Australia and New Zealand. He also completed the American Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Race over 25 times.

    John married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Jean Zuleger, on December 29, 1952, and they were blessed with 4 children. He was a wonderful father, providing generously and instilling a sense of adventure in his children. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah.

    John is survived by his wife, Gloria; 4 children: Johnny Haselow; Susan (Philip) Birner; Nancy (John Nash) Haselow; and Linda (Patrick) Murphy; 6 grandchildren: Erin, Megan and Molly Murphy, Benjamin, Zachary and Sophia Birner; and many other relatives and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.

    The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, with Rev. Doug Engelbrecht officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the funeral home, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., and again on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to High Cliff State Park or Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah.

    He ran the good race and has reached his final destination.

  • Note: William Baier, 72 years old, 1016 Wall street, was found dead, hanging by a rope in the basement of his home late Monday afternoon. Police were called and declared the case an evident suicide. Baier, who was found by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frank Baier, shortly before 5 o'clock when she went to the basement to get potatoes for supper, had been alone in the house during the day. It was stated Baier had been depressed mentally since the death of his wife a year and a half ago. He had also been in ill health for some time.

    Mrs. Baier said she left the house at 10:30 o'clock in the morning and did not return until late in the afternoon. Her husband, son of the deceased, reached home shortly after she did and he was in the house when she found the body, she said. Baier used a rope which had been a washline, it was stated.

    Mr. Baier was born in Germany, April 8, 1858. He came to Oshkosh directly from Germany thirty-two years ago. He is survived by three sons, Louis Baier, Oconomowoc, and Frank and Adolph Baier, both of Oshkosh. There are fifteen grandchildren.

    The prayer services will be held at the Lucas Stockinger home, 1033 Eighth street at 8:30 o'clock Thursday morning. Friends may view the remains there at any time prior to the services. Funeral services will be at the Sacred Heart church at 9 o'clock Thursday morning with Rev. M. J. Schmitz officiating. Interment will be at Riverside cemetery. The pallbearers were Lucas Stockinger, John Selwitschka, Michael Troiber, Frank Bauer, Ludwig Seibold and Joseph Baier.

  • Note: Mrs. Theresa Baier, wife of William Baier, died at her home, 1603 Ninth street this morning at 4 o'clock after an illness of a year. Mrs. Baier was 70 years old. She was born in Germany, June 19, 1858. She had been a resident of Oshkosh for the last thirty-two years. Mrs. Baier was a member of the third order of St. Francis,, the Mothers' society and the Altar society.

    The survivors besides her husband are three sons, Frank and Adolph Baier, both of Oshkosh, Louis Baier, of Oconomowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Bauer of Marshfield and Mrs. Anna Benderling, also of Marshfield; one brother, Alois Graff, of Oshkosh; and sixteen grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart church. A solemn requim high mass will be celebrated with the Rev. M. J. Schmitz as celebrant. Rev. Lawrence Loerke served as deacon and Rev. Edward Wagner was sub-deacon. The pallbearers were John Schneider, Lucas Stockinger, Charles Bauer, John Selwitchka, Joseph Baier and Kantus Bemiskern. Interment was at Riverside cemetery.
