  • Note: Delores "Mitzi" Pouwels, age 91, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. She was born June 2, 1924, in Green Bay, to the late August and Stella (Rentmeester) Maes. On March 2, 1944, Mitzi married Llewellyn "Red" Pouwels at Annunciation Catholic Church in Green Bay. They celebrated 58 years together before Red passed away on November 12, 2002.

    Mitzi was a phenomenal seamstress, who made multiple bride and bridesmaids dresses and costumes. She would knit socks, mittens, hats, and muffs for her family and friends, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking, canning, and will certainly be missed for her wonderful cooking. Mitzi was the ultimate caretaker, always looking out for others and taking families and foster children into her home that were in need. She enjoyed the outdoors and going up north, but her utmost love was spending time with her family.

    Survivors include her son, Jeffery (Janice) Pouwels; daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Schickert; grandchildren, Christine (Andrew) Kubica, Andrew (Nicole) Pouwels, Katie (Robert) Behrend, Megan (Jeremy) Koehler, and Robert (Amy) Heroux; great-grandchildren, Ian, Claire, Molly, Dylan, Hailey, Waylon, Madelyn, Emily, Teagen, Ethan, Mia, Ava, and Carter; brother, Eugene "Bud" Maes; sister, Germaine (Edward) Hundt;

    Mitzi was preceded in death by her husband, Red; her parents; and siblings, William, Earnest, Earl and Alfred Maes, Lorraine Van Ark, Marcella Beth, and Pearl Celusek.

    Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay, from 11:00 am until the time of memorial service at 2:00 pm. Inurnment will be at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.

    Germaine grew up in Green Bay. She graduated from Green Bay West High School, Class of 1938. On February 8, 1945, she married Edward Hundt at Annunciation Catholic Church and later moved to Spartanberg, SC where Edward was stationed in the Army. In February, 1946, they returned to Green Bay. Together they traveled all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico. She was an avid Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan.

    When her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were in activities, she attended all of their events. Germaine enjoyed knitting and doing crossword puzzles and having a good cup of tea.

    She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sue Hundt, Suamico; grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Rhoades, Jason (Orlean Roerdink) Hundt, Maggie Hundt, Jody Minor, Brian Hundt; great-grandchildren, Amber, Jacob, Mitchell, Emily, Maxwell, Raven, Jada, Mason, Gavin, Blake, Gabrielle, Asia; a brother, Eugene "Bud" Maes; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Steve; her parents; and her brothers and sisters, William, Lorraine, Marcella, Ernest, Earl, Pearl, and Delores.

    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, followed by the Memorial Service at 5 p.m. with Rev. Brendan Wroblewski, O.F.M. officiating.     Edward grew up in rural Wisconsin and graduated from eighth grade. He served in the U.S. Army in the Medical Corps during WWII. On February 8, 1945 Edward married Germaine Maes at Annunciation Catholic Church and later moved to Spartanberg, SC where he was stationed in the Army.

    In February of 1946, they moved to Green Bay. For 31 years Edward worked as a machinist for the Green Bay & Western Railroad. Together he and Germaine traveled all over the United States, Mexico and Canada. Edward was proud to have participated in the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in June of 2010. He loved sports and was a dedicated Packers fan and season ticket holder since 1957. Edward worked part time for the Park and Rec. Department and officiated flag football and was a score keeper for baseball and basketball games. When his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were in sports, he attended all their events. Edward enjoyed gardening, maintaining a large garden in his yard for years.

    He is survived by his wife, Germaine; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sue Hundt, Suamico; grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Rhoades, Jason (Orlean Roerdink) Hundt, Maggie Hundt, Jody (Bryan) Minor, Brian Hundt; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Mitchell, Emily, Maxwell, Raven, Jada, Mason, Gavin, Blake, Gabrielle, Asia; brother-in-law, Eugene "Bud" Maes; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Edward was preceded in death by his son, Steve; his parents; five brothers, Leo, Bill, Wilfred, Howard, and Albert; and three sisters, Edith, Annabelle, and Esther.

    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, February 1. The Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev.
