  • Note: CHARLESBURG -- Arnold Weber Sr. died at the home of his son Arnold, Dec. 3, at the age of 88 years. He was born in Germany in 1830; and was married 57 years ago to Margaret Wild, when he settled on the farm where he died. His wife died one year ago.

    He is survived by four sons, Nicholas of Sherwood, John of Chilton, Peter of Iowa and Arnold who lives on the homestead; five daughters, Mrs. Louise Mahlberg of Sherwood, Mrs. Lena Conrad of New Holstein, Mrs. Mary Walber of Marytown, Mrs. Margaret Theobold of Iowa, and Mrs. Katie Flemming of Charlesburg; and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Rausch of Menasha. All were present at the funeral except Nicholas who was ill at the time.

    Burial services were held Thursday, Rev. Miller officiating, interment being made in the St. Charles cemetery.

    On Monday afternoon, Oct. 29th, Mrs. Margaret Weber, one of the respected citizens of East Brothertown, died at the home of her son, Arnold, after so short an illness that the news of her death could scarcely be credited by her friends and neighbors.
    The deceased was born in Germany in 1845 and came to this country with her parents in 1854. In 1862 she was married to Arnold Weber and they settled on a farm one mile southwest of Charlesburg and held possession of the same until 1905 when they transferred the property to their son, Arnold, with whom they have since lived. Mrs. Weber was recognized in the neighborhood in which she lived for many years as a true and upright Christian woman, always faithful to duty and helpful to her neighbors and friends. She was an excellent wife and mother bringing up a large family in a way that made them a credit to her in her old age.
    She leaves a husband, four sons, five daughters, Peter Weber and Mrs. Thos. Theobald of Iowa, Nick Weber and Mrs. Fred Mahlberg of Sherwood, John Weber of Hilbert, Mrs. Otto Conrad of New Holstein, Mrs. Jacob Walber of Marytown, Arnold Weber and Mrs. Elgelbert Flemming of Charlesburg, all of whom were present at the funeral.
  • Immigration: She immigrated in 1854.

John Martin Weber

  • Note: John Weber, 89, retired Calumet County farmer of Rt. 3 Chilton, died Tuesday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He had been a patient at the hospital since Friday. Mr. Weber was born at Charlesburg April 1, 1867, the son of Arnold and Margaret Wild Weber. He attended St. Charles Parochial School at Charlesburg and was married at St. Charles Church April 28, 1903 to Miss Elizabeth Klinkner.
    The couple lived at Charlesburg for a time after their marriage, operated a farm in the town of Woodville, Calumet County for a number of years, then moved to a farm in the town of Chilton 35 years ago where they had resided since. Mrs. Weber passed away Jan. 19, 1955. The couple had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1953.
    Mr. Weber leaves two sons, Roland, on the homestead and Claude of Chilton; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Virginia) Mecklenburg, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Lawrence (Lillian) Schneider, Fredonia; five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Flemming, Charlesburg; and two brothers, Peter of McIntyre, Ia., and Nick of Appleton. One brother, Arnold, died June 15, 1956, and six sisters also preceded Mr. Weber ion death.
    Funeral services will be held at the Pfeffer Funeral Home at Chilton and at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Chilton. The Rev. Joseph Bartelme, pastor, will conduct the services and burial will be in the church cemetery.

  • Note: Arnold Weber, 81, of Charlesburg, died today at his home following a short illness Born May 25, 1875, at Charlesburg, the son of Arnold and Margaret Wild Weber, he attended St. Charles Parochial School. He was married to Minnie Conrad of the town of New Holstein, and they resided on the Weber homestead a half mile south of Charlesburg. Mrs. Weber died in July of 1926, and he retired 12 years ago and moved to the village of Charlesburg.
    Survivors are three sons, Francis at home, Norman and Joseph of Charlesburg; four grandchildren; three brothers, Peter of Meyer, Iowa, John of the town of Chilton, and Nic of Appleton; and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Flemming of Charlesburg. Six sisters preceded him in death.
    Funeral services will be held Monday at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral Home in Chilton, and at St. Charles Catholic Church at Charlesburg, the Rev. Francis J. Melchiors officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
