On September 25, 1948, he married Gladys (Kampo) Moorehead at St. Therese Catholic Church, Appleton, sharing 57 years together. Charles served eight years in the U.S. Army, World War II, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired from Miller Electric, Appleton, and was a member of the Moose Lodge.
    Charles is survived by his children: Pat (Bill) Vander Weyst, Kaukauna; Mary (John) Brose, Waupaca; Charles (Davina) Moorehead Jr., Appleton; Nancy (Ken) Stumpf, Kimberly; Jackie (Dan) Birr Sr., Appleton; 12 grandchildren: Scott (Rochelle) Vander Weyst; Nichol Vander Weyst (fiance Derrick Kern); Kristen Brose; Kerry Brose; Jeremy Moorehead; Eric Moorehead; Shelly (Matt) Aures; Samantha Stumpf; Daniel (Heather) Birr Jr.; Markus Birr; Tiffany Birr; Brianna Birr; a great-grandchild, Chase Vander Weyst; sisters: Mildred (Arthur) Schaefer; Eva (Bob) Smith; brothers: Ernest (Bev) Moorehead; James (Nancy) Moorehead; Frank Moorehead.
    Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his parents; granddaughter, Cassie Stumpf; sisters: Donna Jean, Beverly and Helen (twins); brother, Donald.
    A memorial service will be held at Highland Memorial Park, July 13, 2008, with visitation from 12 - 2 p.m. Prayer service at 1:30 p.m. Inurnment is Monday, July 14, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. A memorial fund is being established for the Disabled American Veterans.

  • Note: Dorothy Otto Kampo, age 91, born May 26, 1924 in Menasha, daughter of the late Anton & Florence Ashman Otto, went to the Lord on June 8, 2015. Dorothy was married on Nov 23, 1942 to Roland L Kampo. He preceeded her in death on April 14, 1999 after sharing 56 years together.

    Dorothy worked at Kimberly-Clark Corporation from 1978 to retirement in 1989. She loved to camp and travel with her family and spent many summers at Boulder Lake Lodge Camping Resort, near Lakewood, WI. After retirement Dorothy and Rollie spent winters in Texas.

    Dorothy and Rollie raised, and are survived by their seven children, Rick (Sue) Kampo, Mary Kay Martin, Cathy (Randy) Huebner, Jim (Nancy) Kampo, Joan (Dan) Kossel, Pam (Rick) Pomerenka, and Paul (Tina Lausman) Kampo. Dorothy is also survived by her 15 grandchildren Ray (Wendy) Kampo, Caroline (Jon) Smith, Joe (Julie) Kampo, Tim (Stephanie Keeley) Kampo, Sarah (Greg) Waters, Kraig (Sara) Huebner, Kyle (and special friend Shelley Koplien) Huebner, Nick (Emerald) Kampo, Dustin Kampo, Sam Kampo, Jason (Emily) Kossel, Joshua Kossel, Emily Kossel, Nathan Kampo (and special friend Mary Timm) and Tyler Kampo. She also has ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by brother-in-law, Jim Kampo and sister-in-laws Nancy Otto and Collette Kampo.

    Dorothy was preceded in death by son-in-Law Gary Martin; grandson, Matthew Martin; two brothers, Gerald Otto and Thomas Otto; three sisters, Grace Hurley, Rosemary Raehl, and Betty Boegh, and brother-in-laws Don Hurley, Lavern Raehl, Robert Boegh, Alex Kampo, Andrew Lambie and Charles Moorehead; and sister-in-laws Ruth Otto, Elaine Lambie and Gladys Moorehead.

    The family would like to thank family friends Deb Nigh and Pat Fahrenkrug for all their help over the years. Also, Mary and Amy from ThedaCare Hospice and all the wonderful staff at Evergreen in Oshkosh.

    Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., with a funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha. A memorial is being established.

    On September 18, 1926 Earl was united in marriage to Luella Mitcheltree in Wittenberg. She survives.

    In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Lyle (Marlene) Long, Combined Locks, WI; two daughters, Arlean (Victor) Stedl, Little Chute, WI and Jacqueline (John) VanHeeswyk, Appleton, WI; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin (Vernetta) Long, Wittenberg, WI; three sisters, Hazel Drews, Wittenberg, WI; Fern Schank, Manitowoc, WI and Melda (Harold) Bernarde, Tomahawk, WI; one sister-in-law, Margaret Long, Wittenberg, WI; and one brother-in-law, Jack (Dot) Kobs, Appleton, WI.

    Earl was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Margaret and Grace, one brother, Willard, two great-grandsons and one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Long.

    Funeral services were held August 9, 1994 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Richard Gildseth officiated. Interment was in the Town of Almon Cemetery.

    Survivors include one son, Lyle (Marlene) Long, Wittenberg; two daughters, Arlene (Victor) Stedl, Little Chute and Jacqueline (John) VanHeeswyk, Appleton; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and one half-brother, Jack (Dot) Kobs, Appleton. In addition to her husband and parents, Luella was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Long.

    Funeral services were held February 3, 1997 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Richard Gildseth officiated. Interment was in the Town of Almon Cemetery.
