  • Note: Bill “Chilly” Allen, age 69, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully at his home after a short battle with cancer on Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born on September 19, 1947, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, son of the late William and Margarette (Chido) Allen. He was raised in Shawano, WI, and left home early to join the Army. Bill was very proud of his service from 1964-69. He was a medic during the Vietnam War. Bill was a former president of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 351.

    Bill married Donna Knaack on December 27, 1967, and together have shared almost 49 years of marriage. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. Bill enjoyed time spent at the cottage on Loon Lake, and was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Mostly, Bill adored his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and “Papa” to his grandchildren.

    Bill is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his children: Kelly (special friend, Brian) Hammen, Cory (Pauline) Allen, Barry (Laura) Allen, and Joseph (special friend, Mandy) Allen; grandchildren: Katie (Chris) Kuna, Jacob Hammen, Monica (special friend, Dan) Hammen, Emily Hammen, Justin (special friend, Mariah) Allen, Abigail Allen, Madeline Allen, Nathan Allen, Jack Allen, and Marley Allen; great grandchildren: C.J. Kuna and Saylor Allen; a brother, David (Wanda) Allen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Penny (Fred) Bartman, Jack (Ann) Knaack, and Donald “Butch” (Loralie) Knaack; an uncle, John (Janis) Allen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 25, 2016, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. He was born March 20, 1935, in Appleton, son of the late John F. and Martha (Haufe) Knaack. He married Theda Patten October 1, 1960, sharing 47 years together. He was employed by Albany International IPF Division, formerly Appleton Wire Works for 35 years and retired in 1990.
    He was member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, United Paper Workers Union, Agewise and AARP.
    Glenn is survived by his wife Theda; a son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Shelly Knaack of Land of Lakes; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Rick Meyer of Kimberly; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Eric Schaden) Meyer; Melissa (Rob) Meyer; Dennis Meyer; Brian Meyer; David (Ashley Schink) Meyer; Ashley Meyer; and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Jaydon.
    He was preceded in death by a son Gregory; a sister Helen Knaack and three brothers: Donald, John and Howard.
    Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 724 E. South River St., Appleton, with the Rev. Steven Savides officiating. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
    A memorial fund has been established.
    The family would like to thank all those who were so very caring and supportive to Glenn, including the Neenah Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, all attending physicians, St. Elizabeth Hospital staff and the Fresenius Dialysis Services of NE Wisconsin.

  • Note: Theda Jean Knaack, age 81, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Rennes Health Care Center. Theda was born in Neenah on February 21, 1933, to the late Alva and Angeline (Steiner) Patten Sr. On October 1, 1960, she was united in marriage to Glenn Knaack in Appleton. The couple enjoyed 48 years together until Glenn passed away in 2008. Theda worked in the cafeteria at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 11 years, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed playing bingo and cribbage, watching the Cubs and Jeopardy - but most of all, Theda loved spending time with her grandchildren. She belonged to AARP, Agewise, and First Congregational Church in Appleton.
    Theda is survived by her her daughter Karen (Rick) Meyer, Kimberly; her son Bradley J. (Michele) Knaack, Land of Lakes; six grandchildren: Jennifer (fiancé Eric Shaden) Meyer, Melissa (Rob) Kons, Dennis (Kendra) Meyer, Brian (Stephanie Trudell) Meyer, David (fiance Kimberly Schwobe) Meyer, and Ashley Meyer; 5 great grandchildren: Logan, Jaydon, McKenna, Mira, and Peyton.
    She was preceded in death by her parents Alva and Angeline, husband Glenn, son Gregory W. Knaack, and brother, Alva S. Patten Jr.
    A funeral service will take place at 4 pm on Tuesday, August 5, at First Congregational Church, 724 E. South River St., Appleton, with Rev. Jane Anderson officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 2 pm until the time of service. Interment will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Affinity Hospice nurses for their kindness, care, and concern.
