    Age 49, passed away after a year long struggle with breast cancer on March 20, 2000 at Kootenai
    Medical Center, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. She was born December 10, 1950 in Appleton, daughter of
    Gilbert Miller and Dorothy (Gehring). She was born and raised in Appleton and moved to North
    Idaho in 1997 to pursue baking her famous Kriss' Kringle (an elegant pastry) with her dear friend,
    Jim Wilger. She liked to ski, enjoyed outdoors, hiking and walking. She was very involved in her
    daughter's life which she considered her greatest accomplishment.

    Survivors include her dear friend and caregiver, Jim Wilger, Post Falls, Idaho; a daughter, Megan
    Coffey, Appleton; and her comforting dog, Ellie Kringle Wilger, Post Falls, Idaho; parents: Gilbert
    (Cecilia) Miller, Appleton; Dorothy Gehring, Flagstaff, Arizona; brothers: Gregg (Debbie) and Giff
    (Becky) Miller, Appleton; sisters: Jayne (David) Williams, Flagstaff, Arizona; Nan (Bard) Rozelle,
    Greenville; stepsisters: Karla West, Houston, Texas; Becky (Mark) Piette, Rothschild; stepbrothers:
    Donald (Heidi) Van Ryzin, Appleton; Jason Van Ryzin, Neenah; and paternal grandmother, Ethel
    Miller, Menasha. Kristine is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

    Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 9, 2000 at 2 p.m. at First Congregational Church in
    Appleton. Memorials to North Idaho Cancer Center, 700 Ironwood Dr., Coeur d' Alene, Idaho 83814.

  • Death: Arlene R Gehring died on March 18, 2014, at age 93.
  • Note: Arlene R. Mackin, age 93, of Waupaca, WI passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at her residence under the care of Thedacare at Home Hospice. Arlene was born in Knowlton, WI on January 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mathilda (Gardner) Gehring. On December 15, 1951, Arlene married Richard J. Mackin in Milwaukee and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2005. She is a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and the Wild Rose Hospital Auxiliary. She loved volunteering at Wild Rose Hospital, doing crafts, card games and being with her family.

    Arlene is survived by her sons: Dennis (Ruth) Mackin, Waupaca; Terry Mackin, Milwaukee and Rick Mackin, Wichita Falls, TX; her six grandchildren: Ryan Mackin; Kelly (Cesar) Ochoa; Patrick (Charis Anne) Mackin; Mark Mackin; Sharon (Alex) Heermann & Dawn Mackin and her four great grandchildren. Also survivng are her siblings: Irene Burnett, Weston, WI; Marcella Kobs, Kimberly, WI; Ralph Gehring Jr., Shiocton, WI; Dorothy Gehring, Cottonwood, AZ and Pearl Kunz, Appleton, WI. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dick, her sister, Lucille Sprague and many sister and brother in laws.

    The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March 22 at 11 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca with Father Amalraj Roche, celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Milwaukee. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 10 AM until the time of mass at the church.

    A memorial fund has been established in Arlene's name.

  • Note: Marcella "Marcy" Kobs, age 92, of Appleton, passed away at Rennes Health Care Center on Saturday, June 25, 2016. She was born on March 17, 1924 to the late Ralph Sr. and Mathilda (Gardner) Gehring in Knowlton, Wisconsin. She married Elmer Kobs in Kimberly on November 16, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1989. Marcy was employed as a receptionist at Zeiss-Mueller Eye Associates.

    Marcy enjoyed the many years she volunteered at Appleton Medical Center and the reading programs at Westside Elementary School in Kimberly. She was also a member of the St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Little Chute.

    Marcy is survived by her loving daughter, Linda of Appleton; two sisters, Irene Burnett of Weston, Wisconsin and Pearl Kunz of Appleton and her brother, Ralph Gehring of Appleton. She is further survived by many dear nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; daughter, Julie; sisters, Arlene Mackin, Lou Rogers Sprague and Dorothy Gehring; brothers-in-law, Dale Burnett, Dick Mackin, Harley Rogers, Gene Sprague and Robert Kunz and sister-in-law, Ethel Gehring.

    A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 705 E. Greenfield Drive, Little Chute. Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated in Marcy's name.     Marcy was blessed with many nieces and nephews that have been there for her over the years. A special thanks to all of them for the love and help they gave Aunt Marcy.

    Thank you to Dr. Montgomery Elmer of ThedaCare Physicians in Kimberly for the years of wonderful care and concern provided to Marcy and her family, you are greatly appreciated. Another thank you to the staff at Rennes Health Care Center. They gave Marcy the love and wonderful care that made her last days peaceful.
