    Bertha is survived by Nieces: Elaine (Loren) Clemence of Battle Creek, MI and Genevieve "Jenny" (Lawrence) Lowell of Plano, TX; Nephew: David Burtnett of Climax, MI; 8 Great Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her Parents: Lyman "Lynn" and Ethel (Keeler) Shupp; Husbands: Eugene Chlebowski (1988) and Leon J. Gauthier (1992); Sister: Evelyn Burtnett; Brothers: Kenneth Kopf and Richard Kopf

    Bertha was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she also belonged to the "50 Plus club". She enjoyed sewing, crafts and formerly enjoyed flower gardening and square dancing. She was an avid reader and was proud to help and befriend the shut-ins. She enjoyed entertaining and was a fabulous cook.

    Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 from 9:30 AM until the funeral.

    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2009, 10:30 A.M. at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Rev. Carolyn Robinson-Fisher of Christ United Methodist Church officiating.

    Entombment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI.

    Memorial tributes may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.

    The former Margaret Gauthier was born on May 19, 1918 in Phlox, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Navarre) Gauthier. She entered the Convent in 1944 and professed her vows in 1946. Sister Mary Rebecca earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister Mary Rebecca served as an elementary teacher at St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay, SS Peter & Paul, Kiel, Sacred Heart, Oshkosh, St. Joseph & St. Philip, Green Bay, St. Anthony, Neopit, St. Paul, Wrightstown, St. Mary, Kaukauna, St. Pius X, Appleton, St. Michael, Whitelaw, St. Paul, Manitowoc, Wisconsin; St. Ambrose, Ironwood, Michigan and St. Mary, Delaware, Ohio. Also, for three years, she was a member of the Infirmary Personnel. After retiring from active ministry, she performed various services at San Damiano Convent, Slinger, St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, and Holy Family Conservatory & Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Since 2003, she has been residing in St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a brother: Claude Gauthier, Broomfield, Colorado; and a brother-in-law: Clarence Holbrook, Antigo. Many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

    Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.

    The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. .to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (TODAY), November 15, 2011. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.

    The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

    Joan had many passions in life. She loved Jesus Christ, her Bible, volunteering, praying and reading with residents at numerous nursing homes. She enjoyed the outdoors, spending time at the family cottage and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Joan was a faithful member of His Church World Outreach Center in Oshkosh.

    Joan is loved and will be missed by her husband, Charles F. Ritter, Oshkosh; children, Mike (Shelly) Grovogel, Sturgeon Bay; Sue (Pat) Geniesse, Neenah; Lisa (Gavin) Rolston, Oshkosh; grandchildren, Amber, Rachel, Maria, Joel and Grace; brother, Roger Navarre; stepchildren, James (Kristi) Ritter, Lakeland, Minn.; Michael (Lisa) Ritter, Linstrom, Minn.; step grandchildren, Ashley, Rachel, Kayla, Tianna, Breanna and Seanna; nephews, Steve, David and Mike Navarre; other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard.

    The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, March 28, 2011, at His Church World Outreach Center, 2704 Jackson St., Oshkosh, from 3 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 5 p.m.

    A memorial fund in her name has been established.

    The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Century Oaks and Heartland Hospice for taking such good care of Joan.

  • Note: Richard C. Navarre, 57, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday Nov. 4, 2004. Richard was born Dec. 23, 1946, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., to the late Cyril and Katherine (Acker) Navarre. Richard was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay, Class of 1968 and was involved with the Fine Arts Dept. where he participated in the drama programs. He was also musically inclined and loved to play the piano; he enjoyed volunteering his time to local organizations.

    Survivors include his sister, Joan (Charles) Ritter, Oshkosh; one brother, Roger Navarre, De Pere; his aunt and uncle, Henry (Claire) Radi , Texas; six nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents.

    The family will receive friends at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home, East-Town Location, 2379 E. Mason Street, from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004. Funeral service 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with his brother, Pastor Roger Navarre officiating. Burial in St . Joseph Cemetery, Sturgeon Bay. Andrew J. Pfotenhauer, Funeral Director.

    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mary and all the staff at Our Place for all the support and love they have shown Richard through the years.
