    Liske, Martin (28 OCT 1845 - 27 AUG 1926)

    Martin Liske, aged Civil War Veteran, died at his home in the town of Worden, Clark County, Wis., on Friday, Aug. 27, 1926, after suffering from a chronic trouble for some time past. Deceased was born in Germany on Oct. 28, 1845, thus reaching the age of 80 years, 9 months and 29 days. Immigrating to America at an early age, he enlisted in Co. D., Ninth Regiment, Wis. Infantry, and served his adopted country until honorably discharge. His wife passed away about fifteen years ago. He leaves to mourn, five daughters, Mrs. Matilda Huls, Mrs. Fred Driessen, Mrs. George Vandehey, Mrs. Wm. Oberle and Miss Helen Liske, and one son, Joseph Liske. The funeral, which was largely attended by friends and neighbors, took place on Monday morning last from St. Bernard's Church in this village, Father Muckerheide officiating, interment following in the Catholic Cemetery.

    He was married to Mathilda Henke April 16, 1872 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Sheboygan County.

    Martin enlisted in the Military Oct 10,1864 He lived in Schleswig Township (Manitowoc County) At the time of his enlistment he was age 19, and listed his ocupation as a laborer. He had blue eyes, light hair and stood 5'8".

    Mrs. Mathilda Liske, aged 63 years, wife of Martin Liske, of the town of Worden, Clark County, Wis., died on Friday last of cancer, after an illness of several months. She leaves her husband and six children. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place on Monday morning from St. Hedwig's Church, Father Arentz officiating.

    Huls, Barney (11 FEB 1870 – 30 SEP 1953)
    Barney Huls passed away of old age infirmities at Stanley on Wednesday evening, Sept. 30, 1953. He had reached the age of 83 years, 7 months, 19 days.
    He was born on Feb. 11, 1870 in Holland and came to this country with his parents when he was 1 ½ years old making their home at Hollandtown in Calumet County. About fifty-six years ago he came to the Stanley country where he resided on a farm two miles southeast of there. He also lived at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for a number of years thus being well known to folks of the Thorp and Stanley Country.
    He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Vanderloop of West Worden and Mrs. Hattie Haas of Stanley with whom he made his home the last few years, and many nieces and newphews.
    Funeral services were held at St. Ann's Church at Stanley on Saturday, Oct. 3, 1953 and burial was made in St. Bernard's Cemetery of Thorp.
    Serving as pallbearers were Math Lauer, Jacob Brown, Theodore Heiting, Nick Jankoski, Geo. Lawrence and Roman Streit.
    Those from away attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Emmers and John Emmers of Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Al Gauther of De Pere; Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson of Green Bay; Arnold Huls of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. John Capaul of Cornell; Mrs. Bill Nesvasci and Mrs. La Verne Roth of Cadott; Henry Haks, Alta Siehr and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Haks of Menasha.
