Jerome Wilmer Schmahl

- Birth: Jerome Wilmer Schmahl was born on February 3, 1935 in Valders, Manitowoc Co, Wisconsin.
- Death: He died on April 3, 2017, at age 82, in Chilton, Calumet Co, Wisconsin.
- Note: Jerome Wilmer "Jerry" Schmahl, age 82, of Chilton, died on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chilton surrounded by his family. He was born February 3, 1935 in Valders, son of the late Wilmer & Loretta (Brandes) Schmahl.
Jerry heard Freedom's Call, and proudly served in the United States Army. Following his discharge, he married Gloria Eickert on June 8, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion.
Throughout his life, Jerry was enthralled with anything that had wheels and a Chevy motor. He had collected many vehicles throughout his life and each one was special to him. It was this love of vehicles which also led him to work as a service manager at Mobile Equipment Sales for many years and later worked at Automotive Supply where he retired in 2000.
He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton and also a member of the Packerland Region, Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. Jerry was a magnificent story teller and those that knew him, know that he could spin fantastic tales and made even simple things sound exciting or exceptionally funny. It always brought him great joy to leave people laughing after sharing one of his stories.
He enjoyed vacationing to many places throughout his life, but especially treasured the several trips he took to Canada to spend some time fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. Saturday nights were especially memorable because he wouldn't miss a night of racing with his sons and grandsons.
For the many joys Jerry had in his life, his family brought him the greatest happiness. With a kind and patient manner, he cherished every moment he could be a loving husband, a father, and a grandfather. He forever went out of his way to put his family before everything else; he looked forward to attending all of his grandchildren's events and always made himself available to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife: Gloria; his children: Jeff (Dawn) Schmahl, Kevin (Tammy) Schmahl; his grandchildren: Curt Schmahl and his special friend, Shanna, Alissa (Cory) Van Eperen, Justin Schmahl and his special friend, Allie, Amanda Schmahl; and his sister: Judy (Ted) Voss who reside in Connecticut. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
