    Age 77, died April 27, 1996 at the Gillett Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 8, 1918 in Center Valley to the late John and Francis (Schwab *incorrect: Schabo) Ahrens. Hank married Martina Peterman on June 29, 1947. The Ahrens lived and worked in Appleton until retiring and moving to Mountain in 1981. Hank enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a lifetime charter member of the VFW, currently belonging to the Lakewood VFW. Henry served his country during World War II in the Army and later enlisted in the Air Force from 1948 until 1951. Survivors include his wife, Martina; one daughter and one son; two brothers, Bill Ahrens of Appleton and Gilbert Ahrens of Menasha, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Irene and Evelyn Ahrens. Friends may call at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home i Suring on Tuesday, April 30, 1996 from 4 p.m. until the fueral ceramony at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Lakewood VFW chaplin officiating.     Age 88, died suddenly at her home at 5:30 p.m. Friday. She was born June 29, 1889 in the Town of Center and had lived in Appleton since the age of 15. Mrs. Horn was a member of the Golden Agers and was an active member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Wilma) Christen, Appleton; two brothers John and Alvin, both of Appleton; three sisters: Mrs. George (Martha) Schabo and Mrs. George (Olga) Wolfgram, both of Appleton; Mrs. Paul (Ella) Kamke, New London; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years ago and a daughter Mrs. Howard (Alice) Arent on February 26, 1977 and also by a sister Bertha, and a brother William. The complete funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard K Pankow officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 3to 9 p.m. Sunday, and after 12 noon Monday at the church until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established for Mt. She was a lifetime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Center. Martha greatly enjoyed the love of her family, gardening and farming. She is survived by two daughters, two sons, a brother, Alvin (Viola) Ahrens, Appleton; two sisters: Olga (George) Wolfgram, Appleton; Ella Kamke, New London. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in May of 1971; two daughters Esther and Dorothy; four brothers; Frank, Otto, William and John; four sisters, Rosie, Anna, Emma and Bertha. Funeral services for Martha will be held on Friday, December 27, 1991 at 11 a.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, N3505 State Hwy. 47, Town of Center, with Pastor Jeffery W. Suhr officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., on Thursday evening from 4 until 9 p.m. and also at the church only on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.     Age 97 passed away in Manawa on Friday, November 28, 2003. She was born December 4, 1905 in the Township of Center to the late Joseph and Marie (Levezow) Ahrens. Ella Elsa Emma Ahrens was baptized on January 7, 1906 in the Township of Center by the Rev. Gustave Schauee. She was confirmed on May 28, 1920 in St. John's Church in the Township of Center by the Rev. W. G. Haase. She married Paul Carl Kamke June 27, 1929 in Fremont, Nebraska. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska until 1933 when they moved to Rush Lake Wisconsin and farmed there for four years. They then moved to Manawa to the town of Little Wolf and farmed until 1973. They then resided in New London until January of 2003 at which time she entered Manawa Community Nursing Center. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, Golden Agers and a Grandmother of the Lutheran Pioneers for four years. She was well known in the area as an avid bowler, having bowled for 54 years in regular leagues into her nineties. She was an avid collector and maker of dolls of which she had a large collection. She also enjoyed fishing.

    She is survived by: one son Paul F. (Lois) Kamke, three grandchildren Gregory, (Lu Ann) Kamke, Rickie (Nancy) Kamke Sr., all of Manawa and Cindy (Elmer) Keller, New London; two step grandchildren: Linda Hollis, and Carol Soldo from Shakopee, MN; six great grandchildren Tracey, Chad, Kim, Kelly, Rickie Jr., Jonathon and six step great grandchildren: Wendy, Angie, Sue, Warren, Ryan and Ross; and one great great grandchild Jeremiah; five step great great grandchildren: Brandon, Conner, Jacob, Madaline and Hailey. She also had four foster daughters: Patricia, Kaye, Jean and Joan Eichorst.

    She was preceded in death by one daughter Vivian Ruth who died in infancy; her parents, her husband Paul, six sisters: Anna, Emma, Bertha, Martha, Rose and Olga; five brothers: John, Frank, Otto, William and Alvin.
    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. William Favorite officiating. Burial will be in the Little Wolf Cemetery in Manawa. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Monday, from 4-8 and on Tuesday at the church from 9 AM until the time of service.

    Age, 71, died unexpectedly Saturday in Antigo. He was born January 6, 1906 in Fremont. He lived and farmed in the New London, Manawa areas all his life. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London.

    Paul was survived by his wife: Ella; a son: Paul Jr.; two brothers: Eric, West Plaines, Missouri;and Arthur, Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

    He was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and three brothers. The funeral was held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with burial in Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa.

    Paul F. Kamke, age 76, Manawa, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at UW-Madison Hospital. He was born on December 23, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Paul and Ella (Ahrens) Kamke. Paulmarried Geraldine Boodry on June 30, 1951, in Manawa. They were married 26 years. He then married Lois Anita Berg on September 20, 1980, in Manawa; they were married for 29 years. Paul had started and ran many business ventures in New London and Manawa. His last being Kam-Art Industry, Inc., in 1971 with his family. He retired several years ago, but still showed up most mornings. He served on the New London Fire Department for six years. Paul loved bowling, gardening and hunting and fishing up-north at the cottage on Pickerel Lake.


    Besides his parents, Paul wass preceded in death by an infant sister Vivian Ruth, and in-laws, Leonard (Margaret) Boodry and Einert (Evelene) Berg.

    Funeral services for Paul were April 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating with burial in the Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf.
