    He was born and raised in the city of Kaukauna and attended local schools.

    In 1972, he was inducted into the Kaukauna Athletic Hall of Fame.

    Art was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd division for 38 years. During 5 of those years, he was on active duty in the New Guinea, Bung Mission Campaign, and World War II as a staff sergeant. He was discharged in September 1945. In 1947, after attending Officers Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, he re-entered the guard as a second lieutenant and eventually rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel. His duties included: command of his former Company D, and he retired from military service in 1978.

    Art was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years and worked in various positions ending as post master and superintendent of mail. He retired in 1978. After retirement, he and his wife, Pearl traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. He was a current and charter member of The Fox Valley Golf Club. In the late 1960's he shot a hole-in-one in Lakewood, Wisconsin at the McCaslin Brook Golf Course.

    Art was active in his former parish of St. Mary of the Annunciation serving as athletic director and coached it's basketball team of which he was very fond. He also served on the financial committee of the Parish. He was currently a member of Holy Cross Parish and served on the community meals on wheels program.

    Art was a member of the Kaukauna Lions Club, and he served three years as treasurer. He was elected President in 1976 and served as zone chairman for our area. Art was also a former member of the Kaukauna Elks Club and currently a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

    Art is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Pearl Casey Koehne; three daughters, Mary Beth (Ken) Schumann, Jane (Steve Vuchetich) Koehne, and Nan (David MacArthur) Luedke; and his three beloved grandsons, Matthew Schumann, Carl Schumann, and Brett Luedke.

    Funeral liturgy for Art will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. A time of visitation will be held at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Art will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.     Pearl was born on May 19, 1919 to Oliver and Jane (Hazen) Casey in Kaukauna, WI. Pearl lived in Kaukauna her entire life. She graduated from St. Mary's School, Kaukauna High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Madison.

    Pearl married her high school classmate Arthur Koehne on September 13, 1952. Together with her husband and sister Daid, she took care of her mother, Jane, until her death.

    Pearl was active in her parish of St. Mary's, serving in its Home-School Association. She worked as a helper in the Community Food Center. Pearl was a member of the Kaukauna Community Health Association. As a member of the Holy Cross Parish, Pearl and Art worked in the community Meals on Wheels program. Pearl and Art transported corneas to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee for the Lion's Club to help the blind.

    Pearl and Art were charter members of the Fox Valley Golf Association and were avid golfers. Pearl and Art were also members of the Kaukauna Alumni Association, which one year dedicated the Alumni News to the couple for services rendered during its formative years.

    Pearl loved reading, playing bridge, swimming, watching Jeopardy and completing the "Word Power" column in Readers' Digest. She was an adventurous cook who used her children as guinea pigs to taste meals. She loved to travel. After retirement Pearl and Art traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe and Asia.

    Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers and sisters and her husband Art who died in 2013.

    Pearl is survived by three daughters, Mary (Ken) Schumann, Jane (Steve Vuchetich) Koehne, and Nan (David MacArthur) Luedke; and her three exceptional grandsons, Matt Schumann, Carl Schumann and Brett Luedke.

    The memorial service for Pearl will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at FARGO FUNERAL HOME. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

    A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Oregon City for Edna VanderZanden, who died Nov. 19 at age 87.

    Edna Susbauer was born April 6, 1916, in Greenville. She moved to Clackamas in the late 1930s and was a homemaker. In 1936, she married Charles A.; he died in 1997.

    Survivors include her daughters, Lorraine VanderZanden, Donna VanderZanden and Bonnie Culley; sons, Ron and Barry; sister, Lucille Zimmerman; and five grandchildren.
