    He was born April 18, 1927, in Kaukauna the son of the late Hjlmar and Eva (Martell) Johnson. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On July 17, 1948, he married Marie C. Deschaine at St. Peters Lutheran Church. They owned and operated the Mariner Café in Sister Bay, from 1966 to 1971, while Marie attended nursing school. In his earlier years, at age 14, Bill started working for his father at the family business, Congress Bowling Lanes, on 4th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay, which he later owned and operated with his father. He also owned the Westside bait shop at the Michigan Street Bridge. Moving back to Sturgeon Bay from Sister Bay, Bill then went to work for Midwest Wire where he was in charge of shipping until his retirement in 2000.

    Bill enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, fishing, camping with his family, and was proud to be a Packer Team shareholder. He loved his neighborhood and enjoyed putting on neighborhood fish boils. Bill was a member of the Am Vets in Sturgeon Bay.

    Survivors include his three daughters, Candace (John) Daoust of DePere, Nancy (Steve) Culver and Heidi (fiancé, Steve Trexler) Graf both of Sturgeon Bay; four grandchildren and families; Jeff (Sarah) Culver (and their children, Jackson and Grant) of Mosinee, Bradley (special friend, Lauryn Kroger) Johnson of Sturgeon Bay, Jon Daoust of Plover, Mark (special friend, Nikia Provenzano) Daoust of Los Angeles, CA; special niece, Sandy Smith of Sturgeon Bay; and many other dear nieces and nephews.

    Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Hjlmar and Eva Johnson; wife, Marie (2010); an infant son; son, Tom J. Johnson (2000); brother and sister-in-law, Bob (Betty) Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Fritz) DeBruin.

    A memorial gathering with military honors for family and friends, will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the pavilion at George Pinney County Park (Stone Quarry) on County Road B, just north of Sturgeon Bay. Interment will follow at Bayside Cemetery Columbarium.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to DOOR CANcer, Inc. (P.O. Box 423, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235).

    Our family would like to thank his neighbors for supporting and watching out for Dad and his pets for many years. We also want to thank the staff at Ministry Door County Medical Center, especially, RN Ellen Knipfer (one of his neighbors), and Dr. Antonio, for their kind and compassionate care given to our father.

  • Note: Alice M. (Kofler) Lorenz, 69, Black Creek, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 28, 2013. Alice was born March 16, 1944, daughter of the late Greg and Mary (Long) Kofler, of Neenah. On Feb. 19, 1966, she married Kenneth J. Lorenz of Black Creek. The couple farmed in Black Creek and raised a family of 9 children. Her children and grandchildren were a source of great pride to her and she especially loved spending time with them. She also loved attending her grandchildren's dance recitals, sporting events, piano recitals, and school concerts.

    Alice is survived by her husband, Kenneth and their children, Keven (Annette) Lorenz, of Kimberly; Lisa (Greg) Lorenz, of Black Creek; Mary (Bill) Fischer, of Suamico; Keith (Amy) Lorenz, and Julie (Eric) Young, both of Seymour; a step-son George (Liane) Lorenz, of Black Creek and two step-daughters Debbie (Bill) Krause, of Black Creek; Cindy (Dennis) Verstegen, of Appleton; 18 grandchildren: Danny (Marcy) Lorenz, Terry Lorenz, Amanda and Laci Krause, Tanner and Spencer Verstegen, Maria Lorenz, Tyler and Josh Lorenz, Allison, Kaitlyn, and Derek Fischer, Brett, Riley, and Lucas Lorenz, Gavin, Garret, and Grayson Young; one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Lorenz. She is further survived by a sister and a brother, Jean (Norbert) Braun of Menasha; John (Pat) Kofler of Neenah; two sister-in-laws, Millie Lorenz, of Kaukauna; Gerrie Werner of Black Creek; two godchildren Cathy (Braun) Jess and Paul Kofler; many nieces and nephews.

    Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Greg and Mary Kofler, a daughter, Laurie, father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Elna Lorenz, a sister-in-law and 3 brother-in-laws, Julius and Virgilla Robaidek, Eugene Lorenz, and Kenneth Werner, Sr.

    Family, friends, and others whose lives Alice touched are invited to Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home in Seymour, for a visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013, and at 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Green Bay Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1414 Shawano Avenue, with a service at 10:30, with Pastor Bill Ochs. Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Seymour.

    Mom you were our inspiration and rock. You were the person we went to when we needed someone to talk to. You are truly going to be missed. And will forever be in our hearts.

  • Note: JOHN FLANAGAN, SB. John Flanagan. Sr., 82, died shortly before 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home at Maple Creek. He Is survived by his widow; six sons, Thomas of Appleton, Dr. Garrett Flanagan of Kaukauna, James of Sugar Bush, and Edward, Lawrence and John of Maple Creek; and two daughters, Mrs. Mary McLaughlin of Clintonvllle and Miss Alice Flanagan of Maple Creek. Fifteen'grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning from the residence at Maple Creek and at 10 o'clock from the Catholic parish hall at New London. The Rev. O. Kolbe will have charge of the services. The six sons of the deceased will act as bearers.
