  • Note: Pearl Vanden Langenberg, 92, of Kelly Lake, Suring, WI, formerly of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Woodland Village Nursing Home in Suring. Pearl was born September 3, 1920 in Green Bay to the late Frank and Antoinette (Dennisen) Parins, and graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1937. Pearl married Harvey Vanden Langenberg on September 28, 1940, and enjoyed over 62 years of marriage until Harvey passed away in 2003. Pearl worked as a bookkeeper at Kelly Photo in Green Bay after raising her family. Pearl was a long-time member and also served as President of the Bellevue VFW 9677 Ladies' Auxiliary. After retiring in 1982 to the home she and Harvey built at Kelly Lake, Pearl was an active member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Klondike and its Altar Rosary Society, and volunteered at Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls. The happiest times of Pearl's life were the years she spent at Kelly Lake enjoying her family, especially her 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, singing in the St. Wenceslaus choir, participating in church activities, assisting with bookkeeping at St. Wenceslaus, and traveling with her family and friends.Pearl is survived by her children, Judy (Michael) Strebel, Kelly Lake; David (Linda) Van, Coleman; Joan (Robert) Patterson, Kelly Lake; and Ellen (Gary) Rentmeester, Green Bay; and by her 9 grandchildren; Susan (Robb) Hepp, Steven (Carrie) Strebel, Michele (David) Spangenberg, Mark Strebel, Lisa (Steve) Arendt, Ryan Patterson, Jed (Sara) Vanden Langenberg, Kyle (Cheryl) Rentmeester, and Katie (Kris Kuhn) Rentmeester; 14 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her brothers Robert (Beth) Parins and Lloyd Parins; her sisters; Annette (Shelby Guilette) Watkins, Pauline (Bucky) McAbee, Cece (Pat) Blaser, and Mary (Joe) Brusky; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Arnie and Bernice Rentmeester, Raphael and Ida Vanden Langenberg, Ron and Jeanne Vanden Langenberg, Eloise VanderKelen, Betty Vanden Langenberg, Barb Vanden Langenberg, and Lorraine Vanden Langenberg; and many nieces and nephews. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Gertrude Parins; her siblings; Irvin Parins, Betty (Marv) Stone, Peter Parins, and Kathy Ashbaugh; and her sisters-and brothers-in-law, Howard and Jan Vanden Langenberg, Ray and Rosella Lamal, Lorraine and Orland Nick; Lloyd, Marvin, and Ken Vanden Langenberg; and Audrey Parins. Family and friends may call at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suring, WI, on Sunday, July 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Mass with Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating. Pearl's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the management and staff of Woodland Village Nursing Home, Suring, WI, for the loving care and compassion which they showed to Pearl.   • Note: Michael C. Strebel, age 77, Kelly Lake, WI (formerly of Peshtigo) passed away peacefully at his home in Englewood, FL on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. He was born July 9, 1939 on the family farm, in Casco, WI to the late Edward and Irene (Adams) Strebel.

    Mike graduated from Green Bay Preble High School in 1958. He attended Northern Michigan University (NMU) on a football scholarship and was a four-year offensive and defensive starter. In 1959, he married the former Judy VandenLangenberg of Green Bay. He graduated from NMU in 1962 and later received his master's degree from his alma mater. He began his career in Ashland, Wisconsin in the teaching/coaching profession where he found his calling and passion. In 1965, he moved his family to Peshtigo, WI, where he was a teacher/athletic director/football/track/wrestling coach. He coached for 32 years and during his tenure won 2 State Track Championships and 222 football games including the 1983 State Football Championship with the support of his longtime friend and assistant coach, Pat DesJardin. As an educator and coach, he took pride in teaching, motivating and encouraging students to reach their full potential, always seeing the good in everyone.

    Mike was active in the school and community for 35 years where he helped establish the Peshtigo Youth Football program, Peshtigo Booster Club, and organized numerous fundraisers in support of community projects including the complete renovation of the football/track facilities. He was inducted into the NMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994, the State Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997, named the Peshtigo Citizen of the Year in 1998, and was named the State Athletic Director of the Year in 1999. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he taught CCD and facilitated confirmation retreats. He retired from Peshtigo High School in 2000 as the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal.

    Mike loved his job, community, friends but most importantly his family. He was hard-working, humble, humorous, compassionate, and a loving husband, father and friend who will be deeply missed.

    Mike is survived by his wife Judy of 57 years, his children Sue (Robb) Hepp of Campbellsport, WI, Steve (Carrie) Strebel of Windsor, WI, Michele (David) Spangenberg of Peshtigo, WI, and Mark Strebel of Sun Prairie, WI, 7 grandchildren - Matt Strebel (friend Diana), Jeremy (Christina) Strebel, Nathan Strebel, Michael Hepp, Aaron Hepp, Nicole Hepp, Jenna Spangenberg, 1 great grandchild Minette Strebel, a brother Robert (Pat) Strebel of Sacramento, CA, a brother Russell Strebel (friend Barb) of Green Bay, a sister Jean Mead of Woodland, WI, a sister Marlene (George) Wanta, Wausau, WI, and a brother Peter (Karen) Strebel of Sussex, WI. Mike is further survived by his in-laws David VandenLangenberg (friend, Linda VanLanen), Joan and Robert Patterson, Ellen and Gary Rentmester and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kathy Reopelli, a sister-in-law, Mary Strebel, and his father and mother in-law, Harvey and Pearl VandenLangenberg.
