  • Note: Kathleen C. Le Gault, age 89, of Appleton, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Matthews of Appleton. She was born on April 3, 1924, in Appleton, the daughter of the late Alton and Marian (Kopanski) La Plante. Kathleen had a love of children and was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and childcare provider to many families. She loved to play cards on Saturday nights with her dad and his friends. Kathleen loved to play cribbage and dance at weddings. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church.

    Kathleen is survived by her children: Dennis (Christine) Le Gault of Appleton and Sandra (Paul) De Ruyter of Freedom; grandchildren: Brian Le Gault and Scott Le Gault of Appleton and Michelle (Joshua) Dobbins of Hopkins, Minnesota; Kimberly De Ruyter of Kaukauna and Michael (Amy) De Ruyter of Green Bay; great-grandsons: Aidyn and Ryan Corrigan and Everett Dobbins; sister: Virginia Ulman of Appleton; brother: Eugene La Plante of Appleton; and her special friend: Don Du Chateau of Appleton. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kathleen was preceded in death by her brothers: Francis and Theodore La Plante; brother-in-law, Ervin Ulman; and sister-in-law, Joan La Plante.

    The funeral liturgy for Kathleen will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Morrison Street at Wisconsin Avenue, Appleton. Fr. William Hoffman will be officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Appleton. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of mass. Memorials to St. Therese Catholic Church or St. Jude Hospital are appreciated. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

    Hortonville

    Age 78, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Monday, November 18, 2002. Janice was born in Ottowa, IL on September 6, 1924. In 1953, she married Oscar French, who preceded her in death. Janice grew up on a small farm in Ottowa. In 1970, she and Oscar moved to Fremont. In 1974 they purchased the Gala Resort and owned and operated it for many years. This endeavor took a lot of hard work and many long hours, but they enjoyed every minute of it. Janice will always be remembered for helping people as she did in so many ways.

    Janice is survived by her son, Steven French of Chicago, IL; two sisters-in-law: Mary Jane Ferguson of Pauley's Island, SC and Barbara Ferguson of Rolling Meadows, IL; and is further survived by nieces and nephews. Janice is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three brothers: Bill, Tom and Jack Ferguson.

    A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2002, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, with Deacon Pete Reinl officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

    A special thank you is extended to the staff at Appleton Medical Center, especially the fourth floor and intensive care unit, for their compassionate care.

    He was born on September 4, 1966 in Chilton, son of the late William & Charlotte (Ricker) Diederich. He married Nicole "Nikki" Burns on April 23, 2010.

    John started his career as a heavy equipment operator working for J&E Construction of Stockbridge, Lunda construction of Hilbert, McMullen & Pitz Construction of Manitowoc, and was currently working for Highway Landscapers of Little Chute.

    He was a member of the Engineers Local #139, and the First Alabama Cavalry Civil War Reenactment Group. He was a retired member of the Stockbridge Fire Department, where he had served for 21 years, and a former member of the Winnebago East Shore Conservation Club. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, taking care of the family home, and all of the horses, dogs, and cats, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife and children.

    Survivors include his wife Nikki; his children Alyssa "Weeds" Burns, and Jordan "Gordy" Burns; his siblings, Lori Diederich of Sherwood, Theresa (Duane) Rohm of Appleton, Gerald Diederich of Stockbridge, Jeanne (Tim) Bornemann of St. John, Joseph Diederich of Sherwood; 3 nieces, Jenna and Kaylee Bornemann, and Callie Rohm; his mother-in-law, Tami Verhagen & fiancé Jerry Ortlieb of Menasha, his father-in-law, Timothy (Bobbi Jo) Birling of Menasha; a sister-in-law, Heidi (Tim) Schaefer of Hilbert, a brother-in-law, Dustin Pfile of Menasha; many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Charlotte Diederich.

    A memorial mass will be at 7 PM on Friday June 14, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church (Military Rd.) in Stockbridge, with the Rev. Mike Betley officiating. Friends may call at the church from 3 to 6:30 PM on Friday.

    John will be loved and missed by his family and friends, and by keeping him in our hearts, we will be able to keep the memories of him with us forever. We love you John.
