    A lingering illness of three years was brought to close at 3:15 o'clock this morning for Mrs. Joseph Grimm, for 57 years a resident of the county, death occurring at the family home at Whitelaw. The cause of her death was given as complications of various illnesses.

    Mrs. Grimm was a pioneer resident of the county, spending her entire life in this county. Born at Whitelaw on May 9, 1862, she lived there a number of years, later moving to the city of Two Rivers where the family lived for 24 years before returning to Whitelaw 22 years ago.

    Death Came only a month after Mr. and Mrs. Grimm observed their 50th anniversary of their wedding, the event being observed at the family home at Whitelaw in August. Prior to her marriage to Mr. Grimm, she was Miss Barbara Grall, a member of a family of pioneer residents of Manitowoc county.

    Besides her husband, Mrs. Grimm is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John Grall and Mrs. Helen Grimm of Whitelaw and Mrs. Martin Brunner of Two Rivers, two sons, Charles and Albert at Whitelaw, seven sisters, and one brother, all residing in this county. Twenty-two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services are to be held Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the St. Michael's church at Whitelaw, Father Theodore Pufahl officiating. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.

    Mrs. Grimm was a devout member of the Catholic church and although the family moved from Two Rivers 22 years ago, she continued to hold her membership in the Altar Society of St. Luke's Church in that city.

    After a month's illness; Mrs. George Staudinger, a pioneer resident of Clark's Mills and Whitelaw, passed yesterday at the St. Vincent's hospital at Green Bay. She was 64 years of age. Burial will take place from the home and at ten o'clock from the St. Mary's Catholic church at Whitelaw, Rev. Khail officiating.

    The deceased, whose maiden name was Mary Grall, was born at Whitelaw. She was married to George Staudinger, who survives her, forty-nine years ago. The following sons and daughters survive: Mrs. John Reimers, Greenville, Wis.; Mrs. John Schmidt, Reedsville; Mrs. Matt Becker, Random Lake; Mrs. Sdw. Schmelter, Brillion; Mrs. Joseph Rathsack, Greenville; Mrs. Isadore Belonger, Two Rivers; Mrs. Wm. Boeckmann, Manitowoc, Mrs. Anton Vogel, Mrs. Anton Koppel, Mrs. Joseph Grimm, all of Whitelaw, Mrs. Frank and Joseph Gressel, Witchita, Kansas. Three sisters, Mrs. Frank Zipper, Mrs. Frank Brown and Mrs. Wolfgram Meyer and one brother, Ignatz Grall, all of Whitelaw, also survive. Burial will be at the cemetery at Whitelaw.

    GEORGE STAUDINGER (d. 1945)

    After a lingering illness death came to George Staudinger, 85, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Boeckman, 1810 S. 13th street, last night.
    Mr. Staudinger was born Mar. 25, 1859, in Austin, Germany. When ten years of age he came to America and diretly to Manitowoc. Until his retirement in 1933, when he moved to this city, he operated a farm at Clarks Mills.
    On Aug. 25, 1879, he and Mary Grall were united in marriage. His wife died in 1928.

    Eleven children, 67 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren survive the deceased.
    The daughters are Mrs. John Reimer, Greenville, Wis.; Mrs. John Schmidt, Reedsville; Mrs. Clara Becker, Random Lake; Mrs. Ed Schmelter, Green Bay; Mrs. Joseph Rathsack,
    Appleton; Mrs. Isadore Belonger, Two Rivers, and Mrs. Boeckman, Manitowoc. The sons are John and Joseph, both of Manitowoc; Charles, Valders and Ed, Cato Falls.
    Two sons and five sisters have preceded Mr. Staudinger in death.

    The body is lying in state at the Pfeffer funeral home where funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, following a requiem mass at the St. Andrew church. Interment will be made in the St. Mary's cemetery at Clarks Mills with the Rev. Lawrence Loerke officiating.
    Mr. Staurdinger was a member of the Catholic Knights of Clarks Mills. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 Friday evening, led by the Rev. Henry Letz.

Ignatz Grall

    Michael Catholic church in Whitelaw, the Rev. John Husslein officiating.
    Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Mr. Grall was born in Cato in 1867 and in 1892 married Miss Lena Meyer. They operated a farm in Cato and retired in 1932, moving into Whitelaw.

    Survivors are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Peter Hartlaub and Mrs. Louis Reimer of this city and Mathilda Grall of Milwaukee; five sons, John of Appleton, Joseph of Chicago, Frank of Whitelaw, Anton of Long Beach,
    Calif., and Alfred of Cato; two sisters, Mrs. W.F. Meyer of Whitelaw and Mrs. Frank Zipperer of Branch; and 15 grandchildren.

    The body was moved to the Grall residence this afternoon from the Reedsville Cooperative funeral home.

Mary Magdalene Meyer

  • Note: Mrs. Ignatz Grall, 76, lifelong resident of the county and residing in Whitelaw the past 18 years, died early Thursday at the Holy Family Hospital following several months’ illness.

    Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Grall home and at 9:30 at St. Michael Catholic church, Whitelaw. The Rev. John Husslein will officiate and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

    She was born Lena Meyer in Whitelaw in 1874 and in 1893 was married to Mr. Grall. They located on a farm in Cato and in 1932 moved to Whitelaw. Mr. Grall died in January, 1949. She was a charter member of the Christian Mothers of St. Michael Congregation.

    Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Peter Hartlaub and Mrs. Louis Reimer of Manitowoc and Miss Mathilda Grall of Milwaukee; five sons, John of Greenville, Wis., Joseph of Chicago, Frank of Whitelaw, Anton of Reedsville and Alfred of Clarks Mills; two brothers, Frank and Louis of Whitelaw; three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Meidl, Mrs. Marbara Menlik and Mrs. John Heinzen of Whitelaw; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

    The casket will be moved to the Grall home from the Mittnacht funeral home, Manitowoc at 2 p.m. Saturday where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday.
