  • Note: William "Bill" W. Taves, age 88, of Menasha, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. On June 27, 1927, Bill was born in Neenah to Alfred and Anna (Mazanetz) Taves. Bill joined the United States Army and obtained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged from the military after three years. He was a long-time employee with Kimberly-Clark and retired after more than 40 years of employment. Bill had a very close bond with his family and enjoyed every moment he could spend with them.

    Bill will be greatly missed by his loving daughters: Deborah (Brian) Buss and Jeanne (Jim) Pritzl; his grandchildren: Adam, Katie, and Laura Buss, Ben (Lane) Pritzl, and Luke (fiancée, Alissa) Pritzl; his precious great-grandchildren: Amelia and Mae Pritzl; his special friend, Marion Sokel; his extended family through his second wife, Phyllis, other family members and friends.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Beachkofski) Taves; his second wife, Phyllis (Endter) Taves; his brothers: Richard, Alfred, and Harold Taves; and his sisters: Mary Kolasinski, Helen Ernst, and Betty Kofnetka.

    A Funeral Service will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Wichmann Funeral Home-Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee Street in Menasha. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery in the Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

    Age 87, of Neenah, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill. Joyce was born January 7, 1922, in Menasha, daughter of the late Lyle and Irma (Julius) Remick. She married Jackson Grode in 1945. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1995. Joyce was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Neenah. She enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage. She also enjoyed reading, golfing, bowling, and playing dart-ball.

    Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Martin) Sizer, of Merrill, and Ellen (Kenneth) Siettlinger, of Connecticut; one son, Jack (Jan Pearson) Grode, of California; five grandchildren, Autumn (Jeff) Moxley, Samuel (Kate) Wollersheim, Bree (Mike) Perdun, Chelsea (Eric Annis) Wollersheim, and Eileen Kelly; one great-granddaughter, Peyton Perdun; and one sister, Mildred (Peter) Clark, of Menasha. Joyce was preceded in death by two children, Judith Grode and David Grode.

    The memorial service will be at 2 p.m.. Monday, April 20, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Neenah. Pastor Paul Holte will officiate. Burial will be take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.

    David Grode, 564 Hunter Point Re., Neenah, age 23, passed away Thursday morning following an auto accident. He was born October 15, 1948 in Neenah and was a life resident and a graduate of Neenah High School. He was employed with the Banta Publishing Company and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

    Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Grode; a brother, Jackson P. at home; two sisters, Karen and Ellen, both at home; his grandparents, Mr. Phillip Grode, Minneapolis; and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Remick, Menasha; his fiance, Miss Patrica McHugin, Appleton.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald F. McDermott officiating. Interment service will be private at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Westgor Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m. Friday.

    LUEBKE, JOAN TAYLOR (nee WALBRUN)

    Joan Taylor Luebke, age 83, of Grand Chute, WI, formerly of Menasha, left this world in the loving arms of Jesus on September 6, 2009, after a five month bout with cancer. Born on February 4, 1926, she was the youngest daughter of the late Thomas G. Walbrun and Mary E. (Orth) Walbrun. She attended grade and high school at St. Mary's Catholic School in Menasha and was a graduate of the class of 1943. Joan was a devoted and beloved wife, a mother of eight and an immediate friend to everyone she met. "Joanie" was well known as one of the Valley's best bartenders, an avid reader, as well as a fabulous cook and passionate gardener. Volunteering with the Theda Clark Auxiliary Ladies for 30 years and heavy involvement in the Elks Ladies for almost 50 years filled her life with abundant friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

    She was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Grode and husbands Eugene Grode, James E. Taylor, Harald Lund, her parents and all 15 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving husband: Vince Luebke, her children and their spouses: Lynn (Erv) Nowak, Oak Creek, WI; Jann (Mark) Kalawa, Menomonee Falls, WI; Peg (Dennis) Marquardt, Wichita Falls, TX; Gail (Steve) Moe, DePere, WI; Edmund "Tripp" (Paige)Taylor III, Neenah, WI; Jamie (Bob) Mazur, Menasha, WI; Mary (Sean) Grafenstein, Appleton, WI; step-children: Mike (Diane) Luebke, Middleton, WI; Linda (Don) Willett, Tucson, AZ; Bob Luebke, Garner, NC; and Luanne (Jim) Bridenbaugh, N. Fond Du Lac, WI; sisters-in-law: Janet Otten, Slinger, WI and Margie Hill, Brown Deer, WI; brother-in-law: Ron (Tina) Luebke, Wagon Mound, NM. Joan was a loving and beloved grandmother to 28 and had 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. We extend much gratitude to Dr. Richard Klamm, her family doctor of many years, and to the ThedaCare At Home Hospice employees, who treated her with such gentleness and dignity.

    A celebration of Joan's life will be held at 5:00 pm at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 528 Second St, Menasha on Friday, September 11, 2009. Visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 pm until the time of Mass. A private burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Menasha. In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

    Menasha-Thomas Eugene Grode, 7 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Grode, 311 8th St. died at his home early this morning following a cold. He was born May 23, 1946.

    Survivors are the parents; a sister, Lynn Ann; and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Grode and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walbrun, both of Menasha.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Hummel in charge. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. The funeral cortege will form at the Laemmrich Funeral Home at 2:15 Sunday afternoon. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock Saturday evening.
