  • Note: Bruce D. Robinson, age 69, of Silver Cliff, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Horizon's Hospice in Mequon. He was born on March 5, 1945, in Norway, Michigan, the son of the late James and Eva (Holgren) Robinson. Bruce was employed at New Page for 35 years, and retired in 2001. On July 11, 2009, he married Candy (Puckett) Mattioli. Bruce served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Parker Jose Stockwell American Legion Post 66 of Athelstane-Silver Cliff. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Bruce collected tractors and farming implements, and looked forward to trips to the casino. He had a great love for his dog Benji and enjoyed the precious time with his grandchildren.

    Bruce is survived by his wife, Candy Robinson; children: Jeff (Teresa) Robinson, Little Chute; Julie Fries, Kaukauna; Jackie (Doug) Sprangers, Combined Locks; Jenny Robinson, Little Chute; Janis (Nick) Johnson, Little Chute; Thomas (Kari) Mattioli, Sherwood; Angella (Jared) Woerishofer, Kaukauna; and Christopher (Tamara) Mattioli, Kaukauna; sixteen grandchildren: Caleb Robinson; Matthew and Ryan Fries; Trevor, Alyssa, Emily, and Rachel Sprangers; Taylor Clark; Torey and Dominic Johnson; River, Harper, and Skyler Mattioli; Genna Mattioli; Elijah and Lilliana Mattioli; brothers: James (Eloise) Robinson, Neenah and Dick Robinson, Loretto, Michigan. He is further survived by a special friend of many years, Ed Binsfeld of Kaukauna, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

    Bruce was preceded in death by his brother Dale Robinson, sister Shirley Smeester, sister-in-law Helen Robinson, granddaughter Erin Fries, and former wife Lorraine Robinson.

    The memorial service for Bruce will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha. Rev. Micah Martin will be officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

    Erin Fries, age 16, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at home on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 25, 1995 in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of Michael and Julie (Robinson) Fries. Erin was a junior at Kaukauna High School. She enjoyed scrapbooking, music, art and drawing. Erin loved spending time with family and friends. Part of her everyday life included Facebook and texting. Erin loved animals, including her two dogs, Petey and Gizmo, who were always there to keep her company.

    Erin is survived by her mother: Julie Fries, Kaukauna; father: Mike Fries, Stevens Point; brothers: Matt and Ryan Fries, Kaukauna; grandparents: Gary and Shirley Fries, Wisconsin Rapids and Bruce and Candy Robinson, Silver Cliff; aunts and uncles: Jeff (Teresa) Robinson, Little Chute; Jackie (Doug) Sprangers, Combined Locks; Jenny Robinson, Little Chute; Janis (Nick) Johnson, Little Chute; Scott (Michelle) Fries, Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Sonia (Paul) Egbert, Sheboygan and Sara (Pete) Esser, DePere. She is further survived by cousins, other relatives and many friends. Erin was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Lorraine Robinson.

    The funeral liturgy for Erin will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 12, 2012 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL, ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. Seventh Street, Kaukauna. Fr. Jerry Pastors will be officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. A vigil service will be held Sunday at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Ronald McDonald House are appreciated.

    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday July 7, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 311 14th Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Martin Baur will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by Wisconsin Rapids American Legion Post #9. Visitation will be held from

    3:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and at St. Paul's Church Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.

    Gary was born May 6, 1941 in Antigo, Wisconsin to Lyle and Genevieve (Buetow) Fries. He married Shirley Kolbet on January 4, 1964 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1959 Gary joined the US Navy, he was discharged from the Naval Reserves in 1965. He was employed by Domtar for 38 years, retiring as a lab technician on September 1, 2005. After his retirement from Domtar, he enjoyed working at Bulls Eye Country Club with the grounds crew.

    Gary was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served in visitation and jail ministry. He was a member of the Heart of Wisconsin Sportsman's Club and the Nekoosa Conservation League. As an active outdoorsman, Gary enjoyed bicycling, hunting, fishing and splitting wood. He loved traveling and having fun at the Kolbet campouts. Gary also looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sports and special programs.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley Fries; four children Michael Fries of Kaukauna, Sonia (Paul) Egbert of Sheboygan, Scott (Michelle) Fries of Chanhassen, MN and Sara (Pete) Esser of De Pere; his grandchildren Matthew and Ryan Fries, Derek, Amanda and Emma Egbert, Tyler, Brandon, Isabella and Liam Fries, Jordan, Austin and Kaitlyn Esser and Alexandria Lockert and his sister Carole Schauer of Elcho, WI. He is further survived by uncles, Bob and Bert Buetow, and many nieces and nephews.

    Gary was preceded in death by his father Lyle Fries; mother Genevieve Fries Beattie; step father Richard Beattie; granddaughter Erin Fries; grandson Connor Fries; and father and mother in law Joe and Loraine Kolbet.

    Gary was a great role model to others by having determination and a positive attitude during his stroke recovery. He found ways to continue to enjoy life and stay active by biking with Shirley on their tandem recumbent and deer hunting during the Wisconsin Disabled hunt. Gary has been an inspiration for all that knew him.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be designated in Gary's name at a later date.
