  • Note: Gladys Mae Kulick Stepanski, Menasha, age 78, passed away on February 14, 2012, with her loving family by her side. In her passing, we lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. On July 31, 1933, Gladys Mae was born the daughter of the late Felix and Bridget (Dachyk) Kulick in Stevens Point. Gladys was united in marriage to her Valentine, Frank A. Stepanski, on June 6, 1953, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha. Gladys embraced life and engaged fully in her relationships, community, and church. Her many accomplishments included raising her six children and in her early years of marriage, she opened her home to foster children. She served on both the Menasha School Board and Youth Go Boards for many years; Always a champion for causes to improve outcomes for others. She worked for US Bank for 22 years retiring in 1990. Gladys belonged to the YMCA and enjoyed singing with the Neenah/Menasha Y-Nots Chorus. She also liked playing cribbage, scrabble, dominos, and many other games with her family, most times being the life of the party. She celebrated with her family in song, prayer, and laughter until her last breath.

    Gladys will be missed by her loving husband of 58 years, Frank; their children: Mary (Richard) Kohler, Mark (Peg) Stepanski, Sue (Kelly) Riehl, Jennifer (Tim) Schillingowski, Paula (Matt) Rodriguez, Tim (Beth) Stepanski; grandchildren: Andrew, Abby, Brandon, Joe (Genevieve), Jason (special friend, Naomi), Ethan, Joseph, Tim, Nate, Phil, Sam, Mae; step-grandson, Trevor; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Michael, and Nicholas; a sister, Betsy Leopold; three sisters-in-law: Diane Kulick, Phyllis Kulick, and Doris Stepanski; and other family members and friends.

    She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Fred and Bill Kulick, nephew, Brian Kulick, a brother-in-law, Phillip Stepanski Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Carr.

    A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 De Pere Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery in the Town of Menasha. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial will be established.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Manor Care and Heartland Hospice for the excellent care given to our mom.

  • Note: Gertrude M. (Basche) Boehnlein, 85, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2012, at home with her daughter by her side surrounded by the love of her family. She was born Dec. 17, 1926, in Green Bay, to the late Phillip and Lucy (Adriaens) Basche. Gertrude married Wallace Boehnlein on July 22, 1961, at St. Joseph Church, in Green Bay; he preceded her in death in 1994. Gertrude was a graduate of West High School. She enjoyed her time working at Northland Hotel and later for North Central Airlines where she met her husband, Wally. After marriage Gert became a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandsons. Gertrude enjoyed flowers, embroidering dishtowels, playing cribbage, working on puzzles, and feeding the critters in her backyard.

    Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne (Marvin) Falish; grandchildren, Katie (Jordan) Sullivan, Tyler Falish, Megan Falish, and Alexander Falish; great-grandsons, Gavin and Brendan Sullivan; one brother, Edward (Dorothy)Basche; sister-in-law, Audrey Martin; numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Lucy (Adriaens) Basche; stepfather, Claude Thompson; a brother, William (Patricia) Basche; a sister, Phyllis (Dewey) Decker; brother-in-law, Robert Martin.

    Friends may call at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Rd. from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial noon at the church with the Rev. Ron Belitz officiating.
