Henry James Scholl

    The little son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scholl narrowly escaped death last Thursday
    evening, on the way home after the Christmas Eve festivities at the north side
    Congregational church, a runaway horse and cutter dashed down the street and struck
    the little fellow, dashing into the ground and running over him. He suffered severe scalp
    wounds, but no bones were broken.

  • Note: Carol Rose Gloede, age 81 of Neenah, was reunited with her soul mate, Bud on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. She was born March 29, 1930 to the late Lawrence Sr. and Veronica (Philippi) Mulvey. On September 25, 1954, she married the love of her life, Elwyn "Bud" Gloede.

    Carol was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved her family. She was a 1948 Neenah High School graduate and held various jobs over the years, the most important of which was being a wife and mom. She was a founding member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, and a longtime member of Catholic Knights/ Catholic Financial Life. She also greatly enjoyed the luncheons she had with her special cousins.

    She is survived by her children: Karen (Rick) Dorn; William (Susan); Thomas (Mary Ann); Daniel (Becky Krause); Mary (Thomas) Ciske; Robert (Cynthia); Richard (Cynthia Hanson); Laurie (Daniel) Dahlke; Peter (Jamie); Jennifer (Timothy) Peat; Sarah (Al) Lacayo; her grandchildren: Michael (Jenny); Christopher; Jason (Katie); Kyle (Elise); Justin; Matthew; Nicholas; Kathryn; Taylor; Allyson (Skyliar); Crysta; Jacob (Sarah); Samantha; Benjamin: Lindsey; Emily; Sarah; Courtney; Rachel; Robert; Alexander; Olivia; Gabrielle; and Lucas; great-grandchildren: Lily; Aiden; Tucker; and one due in July. She is also survived by her siblings: Eunice Green; Francis (Addie) Mulvey; Lawrence Jr. "Charlie" (Janet) Mulvey; Merlin (Kay) Mulvey; sisters-in-law: Katherine Mulvey; Donna Gloede; Alice (John) Steffens; Nancy Eckberg; and Sharon Lichtenberg; brother-in-law Dennis (Sheila) Gloede; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwyn; two daughters: Susan and Jayne; an unborn child; brothers: Harold; James; Russell; a sister, Hazel; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church 900 Geiger St., Neenah, Fr. Larry Seidl and Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Visitation will be at church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be at St. Margaret Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Carol's name.

  • Note: Rick M. Dorn, age 58 of Neenah, passed away surrounded by his family at home, following a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was the first child born on January 1, 1955 in Neenah/Menasha, son of Gladyce (England) and the late Richard Dorn. Rick was a 1973 graduate of Menasha High School. After high school Rick took a job with American Can, and retired from Bemis-Curwood in March, 2013. On November 14, 1975 he married Karen Gloede in Oshkosh. The marriage was blessed with two sons and just short of 38 years. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, drinking beer, watching the SyFy Channel, and any time spent "Up North" at his land in Mountain.

    He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Karen; sons: Michael (Jenny), Oshkosh, Christopher, Neenah; two fur babies, Molly and Gracie; three grandcats, and one granddog; his mother, Gladyce Dorn; sisters: Susan (Roy) Nelson, Diane (Joe Omachinski) Dorn, Sharon (Mark) Pechotta; brother, Ron Dorn; several aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, friends from work, from school, and from up North. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Carol; father-in-law, Elwyn; paternal and maternal grandparents; aunts and uncles.

    The Funeral Service for Rick will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will immediately follow in St. Margaret Cemetery in Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
