  • Note: Joan Igl, 56, Neenah, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born Sept. 13, 1955, in Appleton, to Arnold and Eileen Gassner. Joan attended Neenah High School. She was united in marriage to William Igl on June 18, 1993.

    Joan was currently employed with Homes for Independent Living. She was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Menasha. She loved riding her motorbike in the summers and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Joan will be remembered for having a big heart, a woman who enjoyed life and always made the best out of situations.

    She will be greatly missed by her husband, Bill; children, Karen (John) Wendt, Menasha, and their children, Austin and Peyton; Chuck Oehlke, Neenah; Sue (Dan) Frank, Missouri, and their children, Logan, Joshua, Gabe, Noah and Jonah; B.J. (Heather) Igl and their children, Cameron and Tristin; her mother, Eileen Gassner, Appleton; siblings, Dianne (Ken) Geurts, Winneconne; Sue (Alan) Ansorge, Wisconsin Rapids; Ken (Charlotte) Gassner, Hortonville; Mike (Chris) Gassner, Greenville; Jo (Randy) Bockin, Hortonville; Tim (Joanne) Gassner, Neenah; and Kay Guyant, Berlin; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Jim) Zorko, Rosie (Ray) Galuska, Carol (Bob) Jira, Marge (Mike) Auger and Theresa (Steve) Seymour; brothers-in-law, Don (Verna) Igl, Ray (Sue) Igl, Gary (Shirley) Igl and Eugene (Judy) Igl. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

    Joan was preceded in death by her father, Arnold.

    Funeral services for Joan will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church (473 7th St.) Menasha, with the Rev. David Skarsten officiating. Friends may visit the family from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday at church.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
