  • Note: Louie and Esther (Rose) Janssen of De Pere are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on June 4th. They were married at St. Mary's church in De Pere. The couple has seven children: Michael (Julie) Janssen, Rick (Laurie) Janssen, Diane (Dave) Woelfel, Dave (Sue) Janssen, Cindy (Dave) VanVeghel, Rose (Dave) Hockers, and Randy (Tricia) Janssen. They have been blessed with 24 grandchildren and 17 (and counting) great granchildren that they adore.

  • Note: De Pere - Louis Peter Janssen "Louie" age 95, De Pere, passed away on January 2, 2018 with his family by his side. Louie is the son of late William and Gertrude (Coenen) Janssen, born on December 14, 1922 in the town of Rockland, WI. Louie married the love of his life, Esther Rose on June 4, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, De Pere WI, where they remained devoted members. Louie was an usher for many years and a member of the Holy Name Society.

    Louis purchased a farm in the town of Rockland WI shortly before he was married, and was proud to say he was the oldest living resident in the area.

    Throughout Louis's work life, he was the Rockland Town Supervisor for 10 years, worked at Milprint for 18 years, and for the majority of his career, worked as a Milk Inspector for multiple cheese factories. Along with working outside the home, Louie was a crop farmer. In addition to that, he and Esther were vegetable truck gardeners. For 28 years, they attended 3 farmer markets a week in Green Bay and De Pere, where they sold fresh vegetables and poultry. Louie enjoyed reminiscing with the customers, who he often referred to as friends.

    Louie enjoyed deer hunting, traveling with friends, playing card with neighbors, polka dancing, and watching the Packers play. He was also known to cook the best kettle of Booyah in the area. He cooked a 25-gallon batch a few times a year to share with family, neighbors and friends.

    Louis was a warm and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He enjoyed having his family around him, and visits from neighbors and friends. Louie greeted others with a heartfelt smile and deep sparkle in his eye. He loved to joke around and share his sense of humor. His hugs and 'I Love You' reminders will be missed, but never forgotten.

    Louie is survived by his 7 children: Mike (Julie) Janssen, Rick (Laurie) Janssen, Diane (Dave) Woelfel, Dave (Sue) Janssen, Cindy (Dave) Van Veghel, Rose (Dave) Hockers, Randy (Tricia) Janssen; 24 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. 3 Brothers; Bob Janssen, Dan (Dorothy) Janssen, Ken (Donna) Janssen.

    He is preceded in death by his loving wife Esther of 68 years, his Parents and 3 sisters, Johanna Wellens, Josephine Gossen, and Alice Hutjens as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

    Visitation will be held on January 6, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:30am at St. Mary Catholic Community, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery

A daughter of the late Adolph and Hildegarde (Danz) Rose, Esther was born December 10, 1926, in Bellevue. Esther married the love of her life, Louis Janssen on June 4, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, De Pere WI, where they remained devoted members. Esther was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Ladies Society.

    Throughout Esther’s life she was a loving stay at home Mom for her 7 children and 1 foster child. Along with raising her family, Esther and her husband were vegetable truck gardeners. For 28 years, they attended 3 farmer markets a week in Green Bay and De Pere, where they sold fresh vegetables and poultry. Esther worked hard on ensuring the produce was fresh, clean and ready to sell. Esther helped to pack cheese at Eilers Cheese factory during the Holiday season, and assisted with the Polls at the Rockland Town Hall on Election days.

    Esther enjoyed bowling, polka dancing, and playing cards and dice with family, neighbors, and friends. Esther was well known for planning parties and get-togethers, and valued the holiday celebrations with her family. She loved to decorating the house for every season.
    She was an avid baker and enjoyed sharing sweet goodies, fresh vegetables, or homemade breads and soups with those she visited. She was also known for making a mean Old Fashion or Grasshopper.

    Esther was a giving and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She had a genuine way of complementing others, and was ever so proud of her family. She enjoyed sharing meals with family, neighbors and friends, and never missed recognizing a birthday or anniversary. Her love and thoughtfulness will be missed, but never forgotten.

    Esther is survived by her loving husband Louis of 68 years, and her 7 children: Mike (Julie) Janssen, Rick (Laurie) Janssen, Diane (Dave) Woelfel, Dave (Sue) Janssen, Cindy (Dave) Van Veghel, Rose (Dave) Hockers, Randy (Tricia) Janssen; 24 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. Brothers; 3 brothers: Marvin (Sandy) Rose, Calvin (the late Barb) Rose, David (Shirley) Rose, and sister Gladys (the late Melvin) Larsen

    Esther is preceded in death by her Parents, and brother Harold (Shirley) Rose, as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.


    Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 9:00am until 10:45am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.   • Note: Sharon L. Peters, 72, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, January 20, 2012, at her residence in Appleton. She was born on May 10, 1939; daughter of the late Robert and Lottie Rudloff. Sharon enjoyed traveling with her husband Harold, trips to the casino, and was always a proud, loving owner of chihuahuas.

    She will be deeply missed by her children, Cheryl (Patrick Woods) Schultz, Hortonville; Edward (Lisa Keddell) Peters, Appleton; Mary (Bob) Hayes, New London; Paul (Mechelle) Peters, Appleton; and Jim Peters, Kaukauna; her grandchildren, Mike (Nicole), Eric, Heidi (Chris), Sammi, Kirstin, Desiray, Travis (Allyson) Megan, Samantha, Jenny, Scott and Brett; her great grandchildren, Devon, Bryce, Hailey, Ethan, Elizabeth, Jaidyn, Willow Jo, Ayden, Olivia, Abby, Kylie, Lexi and Blake; her brothers, Earl (Mitzi) Rudloff and Robert (Karen) Rudloff; her sister, Helen Hackbarth and her special friends, Dan Drinkall, Carolyn Weber and Gayelynn Tomaschefsky.

    She was preceded in death by husband, Harold Peters, her parents and her sisters, Mary and Sheryl. A memorial service for Sharon will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 6 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established in her name.

    Sharon's family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of Theda Care Hospice, especially Mary Littiebrant, RN, Mary Anaya, CNA and her many dear friends at Oneida Heights for their compassionate care and companionship. We will all miss you and love you very much, Love, your family.
