  • Note: John Earl Cashman, 79, De Pere, passed away Jan. 18, 2012. He was born on Dec. 18, 1932, to the late Earl and Antoniette Cashman in the town of Rockland.

    He was married to Lorraine Piotrowski on May 14, 1960, at St. Stanislaus, Hofa Park.

    John was a dairy farmer in the town of Rockland. He enjoyed his purebred Holstein cattle and took great pride in the crops grown on his farm. He enjoyed working in the outdoors. In retirement, he and Lorraine moved to De Pere and he enjoyed his raspberries in his garden.

    John was a graduate of East De Pere High School in 1950. Attended University of Wisconsin - Green Bay to study veterinary medicine for a time. He was involved in FFA and 4-H during his youth.

    He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lorraine Cashman Piotroski; his sister, Mary Ann Totta (Paul); and his children, son, Patrick (Adriana), grandchildren, Wesley, Sophia and Sean, Montreal, Canada; son, Steven Cashman, Green Bay; and daughter, Barb Baudhuin (Tim), Brussels, Wis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews from the Edward Cashman family who he enjoyed playing cards with on a regular basis. He is also survived by his niece, Kathy Sanders (Greg). John was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward (Loretta) Cashman; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Sanders.

    Friends and family may call on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Church at 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere, from 10 a.m. to time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Patrick Beno officiating.   • Note: John Van Dyk, 86, De Pere, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at home. He was born on Feb. 17, 1925, to the late William and Rose (Hoks) Van Dyk. On Oct. 18, 1947, he married the former Mary Kane at Old St. Joe's Church by Father Abbot Pennings.

    John served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Van Dyk Shoes and Clothing on Main Street in De Pere, for many years. John enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his friends. He and Mary wintered in Florida for the past 25 years and continued his joy of fishing and their many friendships. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Abbot Pennings Council 3955. John was an active member of the West De Pere Businessmen's Assn., the Abbot Pennings High School Parents Club. He and other local businessmen were the founders of the Kelly Danen Little League Baseball Park.

    John is survived by his wife, Mary; their children, Rod and Ann Van Dyk, De Pere; Peter and Carol Van Dyk, Las Vegas; Bill Van Dyk, Port Washington; seven grandchildren, Andy and Mollie Van Dyk, Ellen and Elizabeth Van Dyk, Sara Van Dyk, Sam, Hannah, William and Olivia Van Hefty; as well as five great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Mary Beth Van Hefty and his son, Paul Van Dyk; as well as his brother and sister-in-law, William and Lois; and one sister and brother-in-law, Roseann and LeRoy Chase.

    Family and friends may call at Old St. Joe's Catholic Church, the Heart of St. Norbert College Campus after 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. James Baraniak and the Rev. Gery Meehan, O.Praem., officiating.
