  • Note: LITTLE CHUTE — Police think the early Tuesday death of a teenager who was struck by a train was a suicide.

Cristian Aguirre, a 16-year-old boy from Little Chute, was struck and killed near the Washington Street railroad crossing about 4:20 a.m. The crossing is between Outagamie County OO and State 96.

Police say their initial investigation showed the crash didn't occur by accidental means.

The boy was struck by a Canadian National Railway Co. train. An autopsy was performed Wednesday.

Appleton Diversity Coordinator Kathy Flores has been helping with funeral arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established bearing the boy's name.

"The family is in need of financial assistance for the burial," Flores said.

Donations can be made at any Community First Credit Union or mailed to P.O. Box 1487, Appleton, WI 54912.
