  • Note: Edwin A. Schuh, of Antigo, died Monday, May 25, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 83 years old. He was born on May 2, 1932 in Elcho, a son of Raymond and Viola (Dunn) Schuh. He married Arlene Hommerding on September 5, 1953 in Elcho. She survives.

    He was a graduate of Elcho High School with the class of 1950.

    He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He was stationed at the Headquarters for Allied Land Forces of Eastern Europe in Izmir, Turkey.

    Following military service he returned to Antigo where he worked at Antigo Baker Canning Company for 39 years as a warehouse supervisor and plant manager. When the canning company in Antigo closed, he transferred to the Friday Canning Company in Coleman.

    He was a member and past Commander of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post #377 in Elcho. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Antigo where he belonged to the Men's Brotherhood, served as a Deacon and as treasurer of the Memorial Committee.

    He enjoyed fishing, cross country skiing, gardening, deer hunting and partridge hunting.

    Survivors including his wife are a daughter, Danelle (Roy) Philippi, Suring; two sons, David (Donna) Schuh, Wausau, Dennis (Margaret) Schuh, Antigo; five grandchildren Denise (Aaron) Lee, Theresa, Anthony and Julia Schuh, John Philippi; a brother-in-law, Bernard Andraschko, Antigo.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters Delores (Fred) Delarme, Beverly (Pat) Moliter, Judy Andraschko, Vivian (Henry) Hessil, Geraldine (Vilas) Tappa, Marcella (Owen) Jewell, Ethel (Leo) Hackzynski and her first husband Vince Kurten, Mary Schuh; two brothers Raymond Schuh and Shirley "Shirk" (Mary) Schuh.

    A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Faith United Church of Christ in Antigo with Rev. Wes Jedras officiating. Committal services will follow in the Elcho Cemetery where the Elcho American Legion Post will conduct military rites. Visitation will be Saturday from 3 - 6 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church.

    Memorials may be directed to Faith United Church of Christ in Ed's name.

  • Note: Ronald "Ron" D. Johnson, 76, Kaukauna, passed away on Friday evening, April 1, 2011, at his residence after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born on May 23, 1934, in Fond du Lac, son of the late Louis and Loris Johnson. He graduated from Brillion High School in 1953 and attended UW-Oshkosh prior to his serving in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958.

    He resided in Orlando, Fla., where he was employed by Martin Marietta. On June 3, 1961, he married Margaret Vaughan of Orange, Texas, who preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 1969. Ron then moved to Brillion where he was employed by Ariens of Brillion. He then moved to Kaukauna and worked at Thilmany Pulp & Paper Co. of Kaukauna for 20 years and presently at Fink Industries of Kaukauna.

    On May 15, 1971, he married Barbara Gast of Kaukauna, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. Ron's great passion was the love of the outdoors, canoeing, camping and he shared this passion with Boy Scout Troop 104 for ten years. Ron enjoyed working on numerous projects with his sons.

    Ron is survived by his wife, Barbara, Kaukauna; four sons, Kevin (Sharon) and Scott (special friend, Merry), Kaukauna; Brian, Black Creek; and Craig (Jane), Appleton; a sister, Janis Johnson, Kaukauna; four grandchildren, Christina and Christopher Johnson, Caitlin (Ben) VandenWyngaard, Tony Abel; and a brother-in-law, Lee (Ellen) Gast. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, numerous friends; and by his precious pets, Cuddles, Molly and Amber.

    Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Loris Johnson; a brother, Wesley; a half-sister, Elizabeth; brother-in-law, Michael Pavlicin; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law,Walter and Gertrude Gast.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon St., Kaukauna, with the Revs. Karl Schultz and Tim Wilkens officiating. Friends may call at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Ron's name is being established.

    The family would like to thank Dr. Aaron Douglas and his staff at Primary Care Associates, Dr. Michael Maguire, Dr. Tate Fors, Dr. David Brooks and staff, Theda Care at Home Hospice, and special family friend, Michelle Kalies.
