    HENRY VANDERLOOP PASSED AWAY EARLY FRI. MORNING

    Mr. Henry Vanderloop passed on at his home very early last Friday morning. He had been in poor health for quite some time.

    Funeral service were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Anthony's church with burial in St. Anthony's cemetery. Father Buehler officiated at the Mass and the graveside services. Pallbearers were his grandsons, George and Francis Huhmann, Clarence Snodgrass Jr., James Kleffner, all of Spalding, Jim and Gene Vanderloop of Cedar Rapids.

    OBITUARY

    Henry Vanderloop was born in Holland Town, Brown County, Wisconsin. In the late '70's he came to David City, Nebraska.

    He was united in marriage to Mary Rutten March 1, 1892 at Center, Nebraska. To this union 8 children were born, three died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Vanderloop came to Boone County in 1900 and settled on a farm three miles north of Cedar Rapids where they lived until 1938. They then moved to Cedar Rapids where they have since made their home.

    Mr. Vanderloop is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. J. Huhmann; Mrs. August Kleffner and Mrs. Clarence Snodgrass, all of Spalding; two sons, George of Conoga Park, California and Harold of Cedar Rapids; one brother, seven sisters, 35 grand children, and 34 great grandchildren

    All of his children were present for the funeral services.

    Mr. and Mrs. Vanderloop celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on March 1.

    Father Strasser of Primrose and relatives from Spalding, David City and Palmer, also attended the funeral services.

  • Note: Mrs. Mary Ann M. Helgeson-Twetan, age 83, of Stevens Point, formerly of Iola, died Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at Oakridge Senior Living in Stevens Point.

    Mary Ann was born in Neenah, Wisconsin on May 25, 1929, the daughter of the late August and Anna (Lemke) Winter and attended schools in Neenah, Symco and Tigerton. She married Charles Helgeson on June 12, 1948. They farmed in the Town of Harrison in Waupaca County until his death on Dec 15, 1978. She then married Orin Twetan on August 23, 1986 and lived in Iola until his death on January 22, 2003. Mary Ann worked at Zwicker Knitting Mills in Waupaca and Krause Publications in Iola for many years. She was a sunday school teacher, member of various women's groups at Northland and Our Savior's Lutheran Churches and was a 4H leader. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening and especially enjoyed working with 4 H kids; teaching them how to sew.

    She is survived by Son: Randolph (Debra) Helgeson of Milton, Daughter: Deborah Zurawski of Plover. Grandchildren: Derek (Kathy) Helgeson, Renee (Phillip) Murphy, Jennifer Zurawski and Aaron Zurawski. Great Grandchildren: Kashton & Hadley Murphy and Ava Swanson. Sister: Lucille Vandenberg and Brother: Russell (Laverne) Winter.

    A Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 13th, with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10-11 AM. Interment will be in the Northland Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Harrison, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name to the Parkinson's Foundation. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakridge Senior Living and also to the hospice caregivers for their care of Mary Ann.
