    beencared for the past few weeks. She was one of th e early settlers
    ofElysian township, and lived on the farm north of town for many
    yearsunti l after the death of her husband, when she came to the village
    tomake her home. She was bor n in New York State, and would have
    reachedher 83rd year in April. She is surrived by her so n Emory
    Davison, and abrother Wm. Fish. The funeral held at the M. E. church
    yesterdayaftern oon was conducted by Rev. Skews.

    immigrate d to Le Sueur county where he has since made hishome. Funeral
    services on the 30th ult, in t he M. E. church under theauspices of the
    G. A. R. and conducted by Elder Burgess, was attend ed bya large number
    of relatives and many friends. Ceceased was a member ofCo. C., 2nd Minn
    . Regiment. By his kindly disposition, his readiness torender assistance
    to anyone in time s of trouble, his utter unselfishness,he was endeared
    to a large circle of friends and will b e sadly missed.He leaves a wife
    and one son (the only survivor of a family of seven) tomour n their

    St.Josephs hospital in Manka to, following an operation fpr tumor
    andcomplications. He was taken to the hospital two week s before, and
    hisrecoverywas expected until shortly before the end, when his heart
    failed.
    William Harrison Fish was born July 15, 1849 at Peru, Indiana,
    andcame here with his par ents when ten years of age. He was married
    atElysian, Feb 18, 1870, to Minerva Jane Johnson , who passed away on
    Sepr30th last. One daughter Ruth die 34 years ago. Surviving are one s
    on,Herbert Fish, of Portland, Ore., and five daughters, Mrs. Alta
    Robertsonof St. Louis Park , Mrs. Abbie Morlock of Kechikan, Alaska, Mrs.
    AliceRachel and Mrs. Mabel Steinhaus of Elysia n, Mrs. Nell Austin of
    NorthMankato. Also 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
    Deceased had been a resident of this vicinity for 71 years, and
    inthat time had seen man y changes in and about the village. His early
    lifewas on a farm before the family moved int o the village whish had
    longbeen their home. Later he was an organizer for the W. O. W. an d was
    atthe head of the local lodge for many years.
    Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon by Rev. Morgan, pastorof
    the M. E. church, a t the home of E. W. Steinhaus, and burial at
    CedarHill cemetery. The pallbearers were the gr andsons, Mere Austin,
    BenMorlock, Roland Steinhaus, Ross Sheldon, John Remiger, Wm. Moen.
    Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were
    Wm.Steinhaus and wife, Leo We ckwerth and wife, and Mrs. E. Steinhaus of
    NewRishland; Wm. Moen a and wife, Ben Morlock an d wife, Frank Piper,
    G. H.Sterling and wife, of Minneaopolis; Emery Davison and wife, ofWate
    rville; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Elis and Miss Ellis of Mankato.Elysian

    Benjamin Fish died at his residence in the town of Janesville, Friday
    morning, Dec 21st. He was born in the State of Vermont, April 22nd,
    1801. He moved to the State of New York an an early age, was married to
    Minerva Carpenter in the year 1824. Shortly after he moved with his wife
    to Ohio, where they lived for several years, when he returned to New
    York. He did not remain there long however, before he returned west and
    settled in the State of Indiana, residing t here for 16 years. His next
    move was to the State of Minnesota, settling in the town of Janes
    ville.This was his last move on earth. He has now to a country where his
    home will be permanent. He has entered a "tabernacle not made with
    hands, eternal in the heavens." He has gone to occupy the mansion which
    Jesus Christ has prepared for him. He was converted and joined the
    Methodist church in 1833, hence has been in the army of the Lord for 50
    years. His life was one of unswerving devotion to the truth. His
    remains were interred in the Elysian cemetery , on Tuesday, Dec 25th.
