  • Note: Elizabeth O. "Betty" Steffes, age 84, of Sherwood, died on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Facility in Sheboygan Falls. She was born October 22, 1930 in Sherwood, daughter of the late Herbert & Lillian (Schultz) Wolf.

    Betty married Robert H. "Bob" Steffes on September 17, 1953 and she devoted her life to the care and betterment of her family. Bob preceded her in death on May 7, 2005.

    She was a member of St. John Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood, St. Ann Society, and the Sherwood American Legion Auxiliary.

    In her free time, Betty enjoyed woodworking and gardening which provided a wonderful opportunity for her children to appreciate all of the joys of the pickle picking process. Later in life, Betty made sure to catch every Brewer Game.

    Survivors include her children: Craig (Terese) Steffes of Wauwatosa, Karen (Bob) Karste of Sheboygan, Chris (Virginia) Steffes of Green Bay; 2 grandchildren: Michelle & Anna Steffes; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lois Wolf, Ruby Gerner, Severina Marsh, Paul Steffes, David (Kathleen) Steffes, Elaine Weber, Alfred (Mary) Steffes. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Bob; a brother: Robert Wolf; as well as other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

    Funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. John Sacred Heart Parish (N361 Military Rd.) in Sherwood with Rev. Bob Rhyner officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am until 11:45 am on Saturday, January 31, 2015. A memorial fund in the name of Elizabeth O. "Betty" Steffes has been established.

    Betty's family would like to thank the entire staff of Harmony Assisted Living, Sheboygan Progressive Care Center and the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for all of the loving care that was shown to Betty.

  • Note: Gerald N. Horn "Gerry" N346 Military Rd., Sherwood, age 37, passed away unexpectedly Tues. June 30, 1998 at his home. He was born Aug. 21, 1961 in Chilton the son of Shirley (Bastian) and the late Marvin Horn. Gerry resided in the Hilbert-Sherwood area all of his life and was a graduate of Hilbert High School. Gerry's best times were spent with his family and friends, especially playing with his children. He was united in marriage to Jean Milheiser on July 13, 1993. Gerry owned and operated G & H Roofing in Sherwood for the past 13 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Sherwood.

    Survivors include his wife, Jean; his mother, Shirley Horn, Town of Menasha; daughter, Kaitlin Marie, at home; son, Adam Jacob, at home; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Debra and Robert Pierson, Hartland WI; Patricia and John Spatchek, Brillion; Mary Horn, Appleton; his godfather, Norbert (Barbara) Horn, Sherwood; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Lynn and Charles Milheiser, Sherwood, sister-in-law, Jennifer Milheiser, New London; two brothers-in-law: James (Cheri) Milheiser, Seymour; Joseph Milheiser and fiancee, Shellie Arndt, Appleton; also nieces and nephews. Besides his father, Gerry was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Horn.

    The mass of resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Fri. July 3, 1998 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood with Rev. Ken Frozena officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and then directly at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

  • Note: Roman F. Loerke, Formerly of Sherwood, age 97, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Rennes Health Center in Appleton. He was born August 27, 1915 in Sherwood, son of the late August and Anna (Schilling) Loerke. Roman was a Veteran of World War II having served as a Special Agent and Finger Print Expert. He was sent to an investigation training school in Washington, D.C. and upon completion of the course was assigned to the 9th Service Command remaining here until March, 1942 at which time he was transferred to the Panama Canal Zone, serving here as Special Agent of the Counter Intelligence Corps until April, 1944. He was also assigned as Security Agent at the United Nations Conference on international organization at San Francisco, California. Upon his discharge from the service he returned to the United States and later was employed by the State of Wisconsin as an Investigator-Agent with the Beverage Tax Division, and also served as Inspector-Investigator with the Division of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin Dept. of Justice, until retirement.

    Roman was a 60 year member of the "Thomas E. Kees Post #496", American Legion, Sherwood, WI and was a member of the Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree) Council #1033, Kaukauna.

    Roman is survived by two nieces and a nephew: Mercedes (Lee) Schaefer, Faythe (Mike) Weber, and Lonnie (Kathy) Wagner; great nieces and nephews: Wendy (Charlie) Gehl, Donald (Janet) Wagner, David (Kay) Wagner, Michael (Jody) Wagner, James (Darlene) Weber, Michele Berkholtz, and Jackie (Pat) Minick; great great nieces and nephews: Allison, Courtney, Meghan, Kristen, Joshua, Andrea, Brandon, Ashton, Caleb, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Thomas, Jacob, and Kristen; and a special friend, Don Kessler.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Beatrice (Edwin) Schulz and Estella (Norbert) Wagner.

    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, N369 Military, Sherwood with Fr. Michael Betley officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
