Verstegen on June 15, 1940, at St. John Catholic Church, Little chute, where she was a lifelong member. She was a member of the Saint Elizabeth Society and the Fox Valley Golf Club.

    Ann is survived by her husband, Ernie; one son, Gary (Lois) Verstegen, Little Chute; three daughters, Janet Verstegen, Little Chute; Ann (Bill) Schaefer, Lone Tree, Colorado; Ellen Verbeten, Kaukauna; four grandchildren, Sara (Jim) Nieling, Jason (Theresa) Verstegen, Vanessa Mills, and Breanna Adams; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Nieling, Boone Verstegen, Brock Verstegen, and Michelle Mills; three brothers, Eugene (Bernice) Peeters, Don (Irene) Peeters, and Mark Peeters; one brother-in-law, Joseph (Charlotte) Verstegen; seven sisters-in-law, Bernice Vander Velden, Ida (James) Peeters, Irene (Don) Peeters, Joanne Hawley, Loretta Verstegen, Margaret Verstegen, and Marie Verstegen; special friends, Tim Verbeten and Jerry Mills, many nieces and nephews and cousins.     Ernest J. Verstegen
    Little Chute

    Age 85, died peacefully with his family by his side Thursday, December 27, 2001. He was born October 19, 1916 in Little Chute, son of Joseph and Anna [Van Gompel] Verstegen. Ernest married Ann Loretta Peeters June 15, 1940 at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute where he was a life long member and she preceded him in death April 30, 2001. As a High School Athlete his passion and skill for football earned him a scholarship at Jordan College, and the nickname 'Lightning'. He was a post World War Ii veteran, serving in Japan. Ernest was employed at Kimberly Clark Corp. for 38 years until his retirement. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling and golfing. His handy man skills were demonstrated in 1947, when he built his own home. He belonged to the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, Little Chute and the Fox Valley Golf Club where he won their President's Cup in 1961.

    Ernest is survived by a son, Gary [Lois] Verstegen, Little Chute; three daughters, Janet Verstegen, Little Chute; Ann [Bill] Schaefer, Lone Tree, Colorado; Ellen Verstegen, Kaukauna; four grandchildren, Sara [Jim] Nieling; Jason [Theresa] Verstegen; Vanessa Mills and Brianna Adams; four great grandchildren, Ryan Neiling; Boone Verstegen; Brock Verstegen; and Michelle Mills; a brother, Joseph [Charlotte] Verstegen, four sisters, Bernice Vander Veldon, Ida [James] Peeters, Irene [Don] Peeters, and Joanne Hawley; three brothers in-law, Eugene [Bernice] Peeters, Don [Irene] Peeters, and Mark Peeters; two sisters in-law, Loretta and Marie Verstegen; special friends, Mark Van Ooyen, Tim Verbeten, Jerry Mills; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the mass where military rites by the Jacob Coppus American Post will follow.   • Note: Janet Verstegen, age 69, passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 28, 2017 at St. Paul Villa in Kaukauna after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Janet was born in Little Chute on September 29, 1947 to Ernie and Ann Verstegen who preceded her in death in 2001.

    Janet is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Mills (fiancé Brent Vanden Heuvel); granddaughter, Michelle Mills; brother, Gary (Lois) Verstegen; and sisters: Annie Schaefer and Ellen Verstegen (partner Tommy Winch). Janet was ‘Grams’ to Brent’s children Jordan and Danielle (fiancé Brian Greengrass) and granddaughters Cassandra and Margaret. Janet’s nieces and nephews include Sara Neiling (Jim), Jason Verstegen (Nikki), Brea Adams (Aly Weier) and great nephews and nieces Boone and Brock Verstegen and Ryan and Ana Neiling.

    Janet graduated from St. John High School in Little Chute. Janet earned her Bachelor’s Degree from UW Oshkosh and Associate’s Degree in Interior Design from Fox Valley Technical College.

    Janet was a devoted city planner in Hillsborough, North Carolina and Appleton, retiring in 2003. Janet was then a Little Chute Trustee for many years, overseeing the Little Chute Beautification project, founding the Little Chute Garden Club, and numerous other projects. In 2011 Janet moved to Las Vegas to live with Annie and loved visiting Vanessa’s cottage in Mountain and Ellen’s log home in Chilton. Janet enjoyed gardening, reading, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, Las Vegas shows, the Packers and the Tarheels. Janet had many friends all over the country including her former spouses Ed Van Handel and Bobby Rigsbee.

    Visitation will be on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 5:00 p.m. After, join Janet’s family at the Fifth Quarter in Little Chute to celebrate her life with music by Tommy Winch and light hors d’oeuvres.

    All donations will go towards a memorial to beautify Little Chute. Per Janet’s wishes, she will be cremated. The Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home has assisted the family.

    Janet and her family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Paul Villa for their kindness, and Janet’s friends for all the love they showed in her final months.
