  • Note: When my Grandpa was 16 he ran away from home. Then he hitchhiked all the way to California. When he was there, he found work on a ranch for a nice couple. They gave him a place to stay and food. They wondered where he came from but didn't ask him. One day when she was cleaning his room, the farmer's wife found his address on his luggage and wrote to his mom and dad. A few weeks later they got a letter saying they were so happy that Mark was safe. They have been looking for him everywhere and they were just about ready to give up looking for him. The farmer and his wife pretended that everything was normal and Mark kept on working for them. About a month or so later they got a letter saying that Mark's mom needed a surgery and would not get it until Mark came home. The farmer and his wife gave Mark some money to get home. But it was very hard because no trucks were going that way. Finally he hopped on a train and went home. His mother was so glad to see him. A few days later she got the surgery and was fine.

    My Grandpa Ran Away
At the age of 16 my grandpa ran away. He went to California and worked on a dude ranch. The couple he worked for figured he was a runaway. They found his address and sent a letter home saying he was fine. My great grandma got sick and wouldn't have the operation until my grandpa got home safely. He came home and my great grandma had the operation.
