  • Note: Bruce Walter Romenesko, 62, of Freedom moved on to the eternal light to be with his mother and father on December 27, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Bruce was born on July 8, 1949 to Orville and Isabel (Lamers) Romenesko in Little Chute.

    After graduation from Freedom High School, Bruce received a teaching degree through Outagamie County Teachers College before moving on to a position at Appleton Coated where he spent the rest of his career before early retirement in November 2010. Bruce lived for camping, traveling the world, riding his Harley, picking weeds in his garden with his grand sons, and spending time at large family cookouts and gatherings. Prior to and after his retirement he most of all loved to fish with his children/grandchildren in his new boat, along with becoming an avid golfer hitting his long freeway driver, hanging out with his brothers, and spending time with friends. Bruce will be greatly missed and loved by all.

    Bruce is survived by four children: Brian (Tanya) Romenesko, Kaukauna, Adam (Angela) Romenesko, Wrightstown, Erin (Jason) Buss, Kaukauna, Jonelle (Victor) Romenesko, Kaukauna, along with five grandchildren; Curran Buss, Korbyn Buss, Adrionna Balgie, Isabella Balgie, and Trenton Romenesko, with two on the way: Victor Reynolds and Aries Romenesko. Bruce is further survived by two brothers and four sisters; Mark (Diane) Romenesko, Kaukauna, Paul (Debbie) Romenesko, Appleton, Becky (Don) Green, Menasha, Kim (Jason Dries) Romenesko, Milwaukee, Ann (Dave Duquette) Romenesko, DePere, Amy (Cory Coleman) Romenesko, Milwaukee. Former spouse, Pat (Pendergast) Romenesko. A world apart, special friend Veliana Hristova, Madrid, Spain. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, special neighbors; Casey and Judy, Bob and Monica, Mike and Patty, Leroy and Carol, the Grader Raiders from the mill, and many many friends.

    Preceded in death by his father, Orville, and mother, Isabel, Romenesko. Also proceeded by grandson Ollie Romenesko, of Brian (Tanya) Romenesko.

    The memorial service for Bruce will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH (W2027 County Road S Freedom) at 11:00 AM with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 4 until 8 PM at the Fargo Funeral Home and on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the

    service at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Bruce's name.

She was born on December 21, 1929, in Little Chute, the daughter of the late Theodore G. and Minnie (De Bruin) Lamers. Issy was united in marriage to Orville Romenesko on September 25, 1948, at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute. Issy was a secretary for 21 years at Freedom High School. She had many hobbies with some of her favorites being bird watching, gardening, golfing, card playing, baking, and most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren. Issy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Orville Romenesko; her three sons, Bruce, Freedom; Mark (Diane), Darboy; Paul (Debbie), Appleton; four daughters, Becky (Don) Green, Appleton; Kim Romenesko, Milwaukee; Ann (fiance, David Duquette), Freedom; Amy (special friend, Cory Coleman), Milwaukee; 16 grandchildren, Brian, Adam, Erin, Jonelle, Dana, Dawn, Elizabeth, Jessica, Dustin, Neil, Abby, Tony, Kayla Mae, David, Kayla Marie and Jon. Issy is further survived by a brother, Paul (Joyce) Lamers, Little Chute; a sister, Margaret Verstegen, Michigan; a friend and sister-in-law, Carol (Leo) Lamers, Little Chute; and a brother-in-law, Frank Brooks, Menasha. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Pearl (Florian) DeGroot, Irene (Elrick) Brooks; a brother, Leo Lamers; two brothers-in-law, John "Toby" Elrick, Gerald Verstegen, and a sister-in-law, Irene (Baeten) Lamers. The funeral liturgy will be at noon on Monday, June 19, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom, with the Reverend Melvin Wierzbicki officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7:30 p.m., and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until the cortege leaves for church. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials to the American Lung Association for emphysema research would be appreciated. The family would like to extend a thank-you to all the health care professionals who took care of Issy, with a special thank-you to Dr. Maria T. Aristigueta and Dr. Alan Cherkasky.     Age 58, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon. He was born July 20, 1921 in Kaukauna and had been a lifelong resident. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Thilmany Quarter Century Club. He had been employed with Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for 38 years. Mr. Pendergast was a veteran of the Army, having served during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Kerkof Pendergast; two daughters, Barbara and Joan, both of Milwaukee; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Suzanna Pendergast, Portage, Michigan; and James Pendergast, Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Kabat officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 Wednesday evening.

    Pendergast, Eileen (nee Kerkhof)
    Eileen Pendergast (nee Kerkhof) died peacefully surrounded by family on November 9, 2008. Eileen was born on December 28, 1920, to William and Kathryn (Jackels) Kerkhof in the Town of Woodville in Calumet County. She attended grade school at St. Francis in Hollandtown and graduated from St. John High School in Little Chute. Eileen married Boniface Pendergast at St. Francis Catholic Church on June 11, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1980.
    They raised four children: two sons: David (Suzanne) Pendergast, Boston; James (Mary) Pendergast, Pewaukee; two daughters: Barbara (John) Arata, Menomonee Falls; Joan Pendergast, Wauwatosa. Five grandchildren and a great-grandchild further survived Eileen.
    Her parents and her brother Wilfred of Texas also preceded her in death.
    Eileen was employed for three years at the Baker Canning Co. of Dunbar as a secretary, and for sixteen years at Kaukauna Times. She enjoyed spending time playing bridge and sheepshead, knitting and being with her children and grandchildren.
    Eileen's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday at Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Kaukauna, 310 W. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna, WI 54130-2128 where Eileen had performed volunteer work for many years. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
