Sprangers, Leonard A. Leonard A. Sprangers, Kaukauna, age 73, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center, with his wife and children by his side. Len married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Vande Hey, of Wrightstown, on October 12, 1954. He was born February 11, 1934, to the late Joseph and Edna (Hofphensberger) Sprangers in Sherwood. Len and Mary farmed side-by-side for 45 years on their farm near Freedom. Together they enjoyed time with their children, grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Playing cards, bowling, Friday night fish, and trips to Branson and Nashville were among their favorite activities. In April, 2007, they took a memorable RV trip thru the Dakotas to Las Vegas with one of their daughters and her husband. Len was a kind, gentle, loving man, with a sense of humor who loved to tease his grandchildren. He regularly donated blood to the Red Cross for over 40 years. After retiring in 1999, Len's love for farming kept him involved helping his son with fieldwork and chores.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, Kaukauna; a son, Leon (Ann) Sprangers, De Pere and their children: Nathan (Janelle), Ryan, Anna, Dan, and Amanda; five daughters: Judy (Chris) Jordan, Kaukauna and their children: Stephanie and Kevin; Sandie Nackers (special friend, Andy Paszkiewcz), Kaukauna, and her children: Tony (Cara), Kyle, Kurt, Cassie (fiance Matt) and their daughter, Taylor; Bev (Jerry) Van Elzen, De Pere and their children: Jared, Katie, Ashley (fiance Matt), Samantha, Megan, Mackenzie; Shari Vandenberg, Kaukauna and her children: Josh, Jackie, Joe, Justin; Wendy (Gary) Vander Heiden, Kaukauna and their children: Brooke, Maria, Olivia, and Sarah. Len is also survived by a brother, Joe (Kay) Sprangers; five sisters: Marge (Ken) Van Stralen, Elaine Gregoire, Lorraine Kohl, Beady Mueller, Janet (Don) Vanden Heuvel; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Sprangers; five brothers-in-law: Virg (Sandy) Vande Hey, Dick (Bev) Vande Hey, Butch (Jean) Vande Hey, Orville Vande Hey, Roly (Rita) Vande Hey, and Art Van Handel; and sister-in-law, Loretta Sanderfoot; and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2007, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom, with Fr. David Hoffman officiating. Friends will be received on Monday at Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family. 920-766-2099

The Sprangers Family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to Dr. Jessica Johnston for her support, compassion, and care of Len and his family. We'd also like to thank the Staff and Doctors at Appleton Medical Center ICU for their support and kindness shown to the entire family. The patience and support of all the nurses, especially Travis.

    We Thank You.

    Love and prayers,

    The Sprangers Family.
